LeBron lost to Disease

Lets go over which are NOT the reasons LeBron left for LA, before we get to the reason that he did:

A. He did NOT leave Cleveland for more money....he could have made more here on a long term deal.

B.  He did not leave Cleveland out of a lack of loyalty to NE Ohio necessarily...his loyalty to this area was not a factor.

C. He did NOT leave because he hated Dan Gilbert or could not get along with him, or because Gilbert did not do enough to provide a team around him.  Dan did everything he could...but there was nothing he could do about LeBron leaving no matter how much money he spent.

D. He did NOT leave Cleveland because the team he is going to gives him a better chance to win titles.  If you compare the Cavs roster without LeBron to the Lakers roster without LeBron, right now, the Cavs roster is much better.  The current Lakers have NO player anywhere as good as Kevin Love, or likely Tristan Thompson. They have some OK young players....but none of their young players, as far as I can see have any better of a future than does the young guard that the Cavs just drafted, Collin Sexton.  Now, maybe if Kawhi Leonard goes there eventually that team may have a potential to challenge, but him going there is no sure thing...nor is it a sure thing that Kawhi will be healthy...nor that LeBron will be. So, "Winning Basketball is NOT there reason he left.

No....LeBron was stricken with a disease, and that disease is why LeBron is gone, and that disease is:

Hollywooditis.

LeBron is in LA because he has become starstruck with Celebrity.  He certainly is a celebrity and wants to hang with celebrities.  He wants to sniff celebrities butt cracks and he was to have his butt crack sniffed by other celebrities.  All he (and apparently his wife and his "management group) does is have stars in his eyes. They  simply want to indulge themselves into the phony Hollywood lifestyle. Some may claim that he made this move based on his future business concerns; and while that may be true, those business concerns involve trying to make movies...and to try to star in movies.  He has really now turned his career into one of being more concerned about the success of his "production company"  than with the success of his basketball career.  Of course he needs to continue to play basketball for a while....because he is only a celebrity because of basketball....and he will have to put in a few years of smooching up to the people buying the Lakers courtside seats, before he can move on and just pay sole attention to his sychophancy to celebrity. But that is why he is in LA now, and not in places that would be much better for basketball.

I personally would take Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Julius Randal and Josh Hart over those remaining busters on the Cavs roster any day.

$1000 says any one of them would know the f'n score in game 1 of the NBA Finals.

Still cannot believe that happened

IMO the real "Disease" is all the critics who keep harping on "MJ's 6 RINGS" Nobody outside of Cle thinks LeBron is anything special. They think he's "decent" but he's no Kobe, MJ or Bird. You think that doesn't eat away at him? You think he isn't sick of hearing about it?

If he wants to be considered the GOAT, he needs at least 1 more rings to really state his case. I'd like to see him do it just to shut up the Kobe and MJ fanboys who won't shut up about his losing record in the finals.

I can tell you one city who's delighted that he went to the Lakers.... Boston. Now they actually might get back to the Finals

By the way, boys and girls.......The Urban Dictionary has accepted and published my Definition of Hollywooditis.  Here is their email to me:

The uncontollable urge to leave everything behind be it your family, your home, your history with an area and to move to Los Angeles to try to become a movie star or to be involved in the entertainment industry. Similar to "having stars in your eyes"

LeBron James has acquired a bad case of Hollywooditis because the LA Laker team he went to actually really sucks and has no chance of winning anything; and all he really wants to do by going there is to schmooze and share the aroma of his asscrack with the celebrities out there who also will want to smell his asscrack; and to try to become some kind of movie mogul, even though most of the entertainment he has produced has sucked pretty badly as well.

Wouldn't he be considered the most famous athlete in the world right now? He's an absolute mega star.

I was listening to a sports talk show driving home last night. The host thinks LeBron is the most valuable player in NBA history. Cavs went from 12-1 odds of winning the NBA championships to 500-1 overnight when he went to the Lakers.

Why comment when you are going to make clueless  like this.. LeBron certainly IS a megastar....in basketball.    But he is not one in the entertainment industry....and THAT is what he wants.  Yes....other celebrities will sniff his asscrack.....that is WHY he wants to be in LA.   LeBron's time as the greatest basketball talent on the earth has a close expiration date.....but he does not want that to be the expiration date on his celebrity. Thus, he has to move into a different genre.    So, what kind of genre....what kind of occupation can he move into that will maintain for him his celebrity status?  He could go into politics.   Maybe he could run for Mayor of Akron....but that is too mundane for him...and he really doesn't want to get into a business where half the people out there will hate you just because you are a D or an R.    What else is there will will maintain his celebrity high?  Entertainment.  There are do other requirements for it other than being famous.  So there you go.  That is Hollywooditis and that is where LeBron is.

Well....here is a comprehensive list of what he has contributed so far to the entertainment industry.   To be honest with you, nothing much here floats my boat. About the best thing that I can see is basically his own story.  90% of this is about being young and growing up black in America. So, OK, I can't relate.  I guess I should ask my nephew how much he can relate to, seeing that he and LeBron went to school together for like 6 years. I doubt there is a lot.

OK sports ability aside what else has LeBron got going for him? Hmmmmm. No dribbling involved,

And compare this to a typical TV or movie star, REQUIREMENTS: LOOK good on camera, remember your lines.

Let's see......

Media figure and business interests

James is represented by agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports.[323] His first agent was Aaron Goodwin, whom he left in 2005 for Leon Rose. Rose joined Creative Artists Agency (CAA) in 2007, and he worked with fellow CAA agent Henry Thomas, who represented Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, to bring James to Miami in 2010. James left CAA for Paul in 2012.[324] James, Paul, Maverick Carter, and Randy Mims—all childhood friends—formed agent and sports-marketing company LRMR after James left Goodwin. LRMR handles James's marketing, including the marketing of The Decision, for which it was criticized.[325][326]

Throughout his career, James has taken a unique approach to his NBA contracts, usually opting to sign shorter-term deals in order to maximize his earnings potential and flexibility;[327][112][328] for example, in 2006, he and the Cavaliers negotiated a three-year, $60 million contract extension instead of the four-year maximum as it allotted him the option of seeking a new contract worth more money as an unrestricted free agent following the 2010 season.[329] This move ultimately allowed James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh to sign with the Heat together.[330] During his second stint in Cleveland, he began opting out and re-signing on new contracts after each season in order to take advantage of higher salaries resulting from the NBA's rising salary cap.[171][331][332][333] In 2016, he signed with the Cavaliers on a three-year deal,[334] becoming the highest-paid player in the league for the first time in his career.[335]

220px-WS_07_%2830460920010%29.jpg
Nike installed a 10-stories-tall mural of James in downtown Cleveland.[336]

James has signed numerous endorsement contracts; some of the companies that he has done business with are Audemars Piguet,[337] Coca-Cola,[338] Dunkin' Brands,[339] McDonald's,[340] Nike,[338] State Farm,[341] Beats by Dre[342] and Samsung.[338] Coming out of high school, he was the target of a three-way bidding war among Nike, Reebok, and Adidas,[343] eventually signing with Nike for approximately $90 million.[344] His signature shoes have performed well for Nike.[345] In 2011, Fenway Sports Group became the sole global marketer of his rights, and as part of the deal, he was granted a minority stake in the English Premier League football club Liverpool,[346] who he has claimed his support for.[347]As a result of James's endorsement money and NBA salary, he has been listed as one of the world's highest-paid athletes.[348] In 2013, he surpassed Kobe Bryant as the highest paid basketball player in the world, with earnings of $56.5 million.[349] In 2014, James realized a profit of more than $30 million as part of Apple's acquisition of Beats Electronics; he had originally struck a deal to get a small stake in the company at its inception in exchange for promoting its headphones.[350] In 2015, he was ranked the sixth highest earning sportsperson,[351] and third highest in 2016 (after Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi).[352] James has stated that he would like to own an NBA team in the future, albeit in a hands-off capacity........ [DUMB STAR STRUCK JOCK? ]

James and comedian Jimmy Kimmel co-hosted the 2007 ESPY Awards.[354] In other comedic pursuits, he hosted the 33rd-season premiere of Saturday Night Live.[355] He has also tried his hand at acting, appearing in a cameo role on the HBO series Entourage.[356] In 2015, he played himself in the Judd Apatow film Trainwreck,[357] receiving positive reviews for his performance.[358] That same year, James's digital video company, Uninterrupted, raised $15.8 million from Warner Bros. Entertainment and Turner Sports to help expand the company's efforts to bring athlete-created content to fans. It is hosted on Bleacher Report and is used by several other athletes including New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski and Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman.[359]

James and his business partner Maverick Carter own production company SpringHill Entertainment,[360] whose first work was the Lions Gate documentary More Than a Game, which was released in 2009 and chronicled James's high school years.[361]Series produced by SpringHill include the Disney XD sports documentaries Becoming,[362] Starz sitcom Survivor's Remorse,[363]and animated web series The LeBrons.[364] In 2016, CNBC aired an unscripted series hosted by James called Cleveland Hustles, where four up-and-coming Northern Ohio entrepreneurs will be financed on the condition of revitalizing a neighborhood in Cleveland.[365] In the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival, a 60-minute Vince Carter documentary entitled The Carter Effectwas executive produced by James and Maverick Carter along with rapper Drake and Future the Prince.[366][367] In February 2018 it was announced that James' production company will produce a new film in the House Party series with James expected to make a cameo.[368]

Activism

220px-LeBronJames_MichelleObama_DwyaneWa
James, First Lady Michelle Obama, and Dwyane Wade tape a public service announcement, January 2014.

James is an active supporter of non-profit organizations, including After-School All-Stars, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Children's Defense Fund, and ONEXONE.[369][370][371] He also has his own charity foundation, the LeBron James Family Foundation, which is based in Akron.[372] Since 2005, the foundation has held an annual bike-a-thon to raise money for various causes.[373] In 2015, James announced a partnership with the University of Akron to provide scholarships for as many as 2,300 children beginning in 2021.[374] In 2016, he donated $2.5 million to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture to support an exhibit on Muhammad Ali.[375] In 2017, he received the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award from the NBA for his "outstanding service and dedication to the community".[376] In November of that same year, the Akron School Board approved the "I Promise" Elementary School, a public school created in a partnership with the LeBron James Family Foundation to help struggling elementary school students stay in school.[377] James later reflected that it was his most important professional accomplishment of his life.[378]

Throughout his career, James has taken stances on controversial issues. On several occasions, he mentioned a feeling of obligation to effect change using his status.[379] Those include the War in Darfur,[380][381][382][383] the Trayvon Martin case,[384] the now-former NBA owner Donald Sterling's racist comments in 2014,[379] the Michael Brown verdict,[385] and the death of Eric Garner.[386] Following a racist incident at his Los Angeles home in 2017, James stated, "being black in America is tough. We got a long way to go for us as a society and for us as African Americans until we feel equal in America."[387] Later on that same year, in the aftermath of the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, James questioned President Donald Trump's Make America Great Again slogan by stating "It's sad what's going on in Charlottesville. Is this the direction our country is heading? Make America Great Again huh? He said that" and "Our youth deserve better!!"[388] James also called Trump a "bum" after the president rescinded a White House invitation to Steph Curry.[389] On the other end of the spectrum, on February 16, 2018, Fox News journalist Laura Ingraham told James to "Shut up and dribble" as a response to his political agendas.[390]

In June 2008, James donated $20,000 to a committee to elect Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.[391] Later that year, James gathered almost 20,000 people at the Quicken Loans Arena for a viewing of Obama's 30-minute American Stories, American Solutions television advertisement.[392] The advertisement was shown on a large screen above the stage, where Jay-Zlater held a free concert.[392] In November 2016, James endorsed Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in the 2016 Presidential election. ..........

No, because you are being a dumbarse.  LeBron IS moonstruck with Hollywooditis......but I never claimed that is all he was.  Certainly he has been able to utilize his fame to make all those endorsement deals, and to do a lot of good things as outlined.   Based on what you related, he could have been dumbstruck with politics....or any number of other eleomossynary endeavors; but that is not what he wants.  He wants Hollywood.  He could run for Mayor, or Congress. His record of activism...as you demonstrate could make him as qualified as anyone else.   Maybe when the Lakers team turns bad, as they may, and the Hollywood production stuff sizzles out, which it could if he does not do better with his material, he may come back here and do that.
