He did NOT leave Cleveland for more money....he could have made more here on a long term deal. B. He did not leave Cleveland out of a lack of loyalty to NE Ohio necessarily...his loyalty to this area was not a factor. C. He did NOT leave because he hated Dan Gilbert or could not get along with him, or because Gilbert did not do enough to provide a team around him. Dan did everything he could...but there was nothing he could do about LeBron leaving no matter how much money he spent. D. He did NOT leave Cleveland because the team he is going to gives him a better chance to win titles. If you compare the Cavs roster without LeBron to the Lakers roster without LeBron, right now, the Cavs roster is much better. The current Lakers have NO player anywhere as good as Kevin Love, or likely Tristan Thompson. They have some OK young players....but none of their young players, as far as I can see have any better of a future than does the young guard that the Cavs just drafted, Collin Sexton. Now, maybe if Kawhi Leonard goes there eventually that team may have a potential to challenge, but him going there is no sure thing...nor is it a sure thing that Kawhi will be healthy...nor that LeBron will be. So, "Winning Basketball is NOT there reason he left. No....LeBron was stricken with a disease, and that disease is why LeBron is gone, and that disease is: Hollywooditis. LeBron is in LA because he has become starstruck with Celebrity. He certainly is a celebrity and wants to hang with celebrities. He wants to sniff celebrities butt cracks and he was to have his butt crack sniffed by other celebrities. All he (and apparently his wife and his "management group) does is have stars in his eyes. They simply want to indulge themselves into the phony Hollywood lifestyle. Some may claim that he made this move based on his future business concerns; and while that may be true, those business concerns involve trying to make movies...and to try to star in movies. He has really now turned his career into one of being more concerned about the success of his "production company" than with the success of his basketball career. Of course he needs to continue to play basketball for a while....because he is only a celebrity because of basketball....and he will have to put in a few years of smooching up to the people buying the Lakers courtside seats, before he can move on and just pay sole attention to his sychophancy to celebrity. If he wants to be considered the GOAT, he needs at least 1 more rings to really state his case. LeBron's time as the greatest basketball talent on the earth has a close expiration date.....but he does not want that to be the expiration date on his celebrity. Thus, he has to move into a different genre. So, what kind of genre....what kind of occupation can he move into that will maintain for him his celebrity status? He could go into politics. Maybe he could run for Mayor of Akron....but that is too mundane for him...and he really doesn't want to get into a business where half the people out there will hate you just because you are a D or an R. What else is there will will maintain his celebrity high? Entertainment. There are do other requirements for it other than being famous. So there you go. Certainly he has been able to utilize his fame to make all those endorsement deals, and to do a lot of good things as outlined. Based on what you related, he could have been dumbstruck with politics....or any number of other eleomossynary endeavors; but that is not what he wants. He wants Hollywood. He could run for Mayor, or Congress. His record of activism...as you demonstrate could make him as qualified as anyone else. Maybe when the Lakers team turns bad, as they may, and the Hollywood production stuff sizzles out, which it could if he does not do better with his material, he may come back here and do that.
