The Browns (or any other team that signs Suh) won't be on the hook for the dead money. That's money the Dolphins will have to pay to tell Suh adios. He'll get a new contract from the team that signs him. It will be for a lot less than what the Dolphins were paying him. That's why I initially thought Suh wouldn't- or couldn't be cut. The Dolphins are already in cap hell, and to fork out $22 million to get rid of a player, regardless how good (and Suh is still regarded as one of the top DTs in the league) is about nuts. Cap manipulation to pay that over two years, and not have to pay NS $8 million more this year almost makes sense. OK, if Suh is being paid by the Fins....then any team, including the Browns, can sign him for any kind of money that can be agreed on....even a cut rate price. Only issue is the old "Offset" issue. Can Suh double dip....or does what some other team pay him offset what the Fins have to pay him? Either way, it seems that the only real issue is whether or not there comes a bidding war for his services that will determine what it would cost his new team to pay him. Fair to say? Oh yes the wild and wacky world of professional football 2018. Why does this sound like a very strange and expensive game of musical chairs? The boom before the crash (in stock market terms)?
