THE BROWNS BOARD

Team of the Decade 2010s

Here is my calculation of the Team of the Decade for the 2010s.

Note on Methodology:   Scores for the Team of the Decade are alloted on a point system.  The team that wins the Super Bowl is awarded 10 points.  The team that loses the Super Bowl is awarded 6 points.  The two Conference title game losers are awarded 3 points.  Any other team that makes the playoffs is given one point.  The points are then accumulated for the entire decade.  In this case, all points are for all years from 2010 through 2017.  So, we are 8/10ths through the 2010s. As noted the scores you see here are the accumulated points over the past 8 years playoff performances.  So, the teams of the NFL, so far in order are:

 New England Patriots    42 points

 Seattle Seahawks  20 pts

 Green Bay Packers 20 pts.

Denver Broncos  19 pts

Baltimore Ravens 15 pts

Pittsburgh Steelers 13 pts.

Atlanta Falcons 12 pts

Philadelphia Eagles 12 pts.

San Francisco 49ers 12 pts.

NY Giants  11 pts

Carolina Panthers  9 points

Indianapolis Colts  6 pts.

Kansas City Chiefs 5 pts

Cincinnati Bengals 5 pts

Minnesota Vikings 5 pts.

New Orleans Saints 4 pts

Houston Texans 4 pts

Arizona Cardinals 4 pts

NY Jets 3 pts.

Chicago Bears 3 pts

Detroit Lions 3 pts

Jacksonville Jaguars 3 pts.

Washington Redskins 2 pts

Dallas Cowboys 2 pts

LA Chargers 1 pt.

LA Rams 1 pt.

Tennessee Titans 1 pt.

Oakland Raiders 1 pt

Miami Dolphins 1 pt

Buffalo Bills 1 pt.

Tampa Bay Bucs  -0- pts.

Cleveland Browns -0- pts.

Note:   The Patriots obviously have the Team of the Decade Title wrapped up for the 2010s....as they have 22 more points than any other team...and even if some team (and that could only be the Packers or the Seahawks)  were to win the next two SBs...they could still only have a max of 40 pts.

So they, already had this wrapped up before the season began, and they are extending their lead significantly...

Two decades in a row is pretty damn impressive!

Yes...very impressive.

The only other team to come in either first or second in two consecutive decades was......tada!.....The Cleveland Browns in the 40s and 50s under this methodology.   (and remember, the Browns were only in existence for 4 of the 10 years of the 40s).

And if you didn't count the AFL, the Browns came in 2d in the NFL in the 60s as well....when the Packers ruled.

I am certainly hoping that the Patriots do not have a 3rd decade of contention in them for this.
