Gonna hit here and in PA pretty hard most likely. I got family in newcastle steel plants that are prob ok cause of seniority, but trumps promise tonprotect those industries are gonna cost republicans in PA and Ohio. Thats the cost of running ur mouth about things u cant deliver. Trump thought these steel companies were essentially state owned or something and would bow to the will of the president

U misunderstood my point cal. Trump blew it out of his a'ss telling any industry that he and he alone can save them. He basically thinks free markets bow to his will. We called him out here when he said schit like this but you all totally agreed capitalism bows before emperor trump. But now ur prob acknowledging that isnt the case......which is what we tried explaining to u

has nothing to do with that - there are many causes - global and otherwise - far more than just a fair

competitive tax structure. Your point is not valid - a lot of industries will be saved. The steel industry

has it's own problems globally. Different deal. I don't believe Trump promised a rose garden to every single industry on

earth, in one year. They passed a huge tax break - the steel industry is having global problems - Trump isn't president of the world,

nor does he think he is, whereas your obamao certainly wanted to be.

and that is the problem - china DUMPING, is what Trump has correctly been talking about. Bad trade deals.

Whereas, your obaMao made those bad deals - he isn't the only one - his idea seemed to be redistribution of

wealth about the globe - except it has come back to bite us. Trump isn't a dictator - he also has Congress and

Demoquackic corrupt obstructionists, and leftwing dicktatorial "judges" who try to stop anything he does.

Trump NAILED it.

eh. they've been doing it all along. chinese stuff every freakin store, every where. go look.

Yeah but thats trinkets and crap, not steel. Steel is very diff. Btw ur talking to someone who agrees with protecting american industry "to an extent". So im not wholesale against trumps ideas on this matter, they just have to be properly executed by people who know what they're doing. This is a delicate balancing act that him and his people atent qualified for, whether u beleive that or not..its a fact.

World class economists have been debating this very balancing act for centuries. Trump would actually be called a communist/socialist for his protective measures by most free market philosophers throughout history. Capitalists want completely open borders and completely open trade no restrictions. But its ok to flirt with socialism when ur guy is in the white house, i get it we've down this road before.

The larger issue for ur side is u just lost PA and possibly OH in the next elections depending on how these layoffs shake down. Its a shame cause i feel like he's right on alot of stuff but his execution is awful and his mouth writes impulsive spur of the moment checks he cant cash. Telling steel he's gonna do everything he can to protect them but make no guarantees was the rational move. Be honest with people, have grown up conversations.

Like west virginia coal...u gotta tell those people coal is on its last legs and that you'll do everything u can for the people currently in the industry but that successive generations need to start finding other schit to do. And helping those regions transition to something else. Thats what govt was supposed to be. Not actually running stuff but helpibg the market transition in infrastructure and human capital. Getting people trained in the bew emerging technologies that AMERICAN BUSINESSES tell the govt they need workers for.

I grew up around some coal people. They always knew it wouldn't go on forever - but artificially trying to destroy it beforethat new tech is discovered was just a leftist/marxist ploy to get the gov to own our country's energy. and wealth.Hint - that is the marxist/commie connection you should be alluding to.

And protecting ourselves from unfair labor practices isn't communist - it's protection frombeing taken advantage of by those countries who come from state owned everything - and a lot of extremely low wages paid across the board, like china.

and capitalists want...open borders? lol. that's ok, Bluto.

But cal, the countries in nafta for example are not communist. But trump stil wants to manipulate trade with them. What is unfair about mexico fir example? Yeah they have lower wages but that isnt artificially instituted by the mexican govt. they just have a lower standard of living and american companies love it.

not after the reps and Trump have lowered the corp tax rate, etc.

It's very complicated, as usual, it was obaMao that created a giant

rat's nest of agreements that would sound good politically, but in reality,

bites.

Here is a funny story for you.  I work for a large millwork company.  So during the Obama age they bought a fabrication mill in Mexico.  I am trying to get some custom benches fabricated and they have metal legs.  Typically we buy all the material state side and send down for fabrication.  Now you can import steel to Mexico because they want to protect their industry
