Recommended Posts

For steaks - in no particular order ------Bardot, Tom Colichio's, Gallagher's, Mon Ami Gabi

Buffet - Caesars, by far

Hamburger - Sammy's Burgers and Pastrami on Decatur (#1) - Gordon Ramsay's Burgr,  Emeril's Sportsbar

Hot Dog - The D

I am headed there on Monday. Decided to see Wayne Newton. He and Donnie/Marie are really the last remaining acts from the heyday (Not Who Dey) of Vegas. My Mom was a big fan, it will be like a trip back in time.

Oh yeah............... if you can see only one show in Paradise, see Absinthe.............cussing,bawdy humor and phenomenal daredevil acts, right at arms reach.

I will send you some pictures from the desert.

Transfer to Barber Shop.

But, if we are on the subject:   best place is whatever the snack bar in the airport serves.  Vegas, any more, to me, is just an airport hub.  Fly in cheap. Get your rental car, then head out to:   Death Valley.....or up Zion Bryce....or over to Sedona....or down to Havasu or over to Mojave National Preserve.

And by the way:   Wayne Newton concert has been THE very WORST concert I have ever seen in my life.

Best Places to eat in Vegas

Steaks :

Budget - Ellis island Casino & Brewery behind Ballys. $8 steak dinner with mashed potatoes and green beans. $1.50 beers

Premium - Cornerstone bar in the Gold Coast

Buffets :

Wynn - top notch with everything

Aria - Best buffet on the strip I think Crab legs are amazing, red velvet pancakes with nutella, and anything you can imagine

Rio is solid, and Mandalay bay is the WORST

Hamburger - Heart attack grill on fremont street. Who doesn't love nurses, midgets, and giant burgers? Plus if you're over 350lbs you eat for free

Best (New) restaurant - Jaburritos Sushi Burrito over by The Linq. Sushi burritos are awesome and they taste amazing here.

Best place to stay - 1.) Aria, 2.) Wynn 3.) Cosmopolitan

Best budget casinos - 1.) The Orleans 2.) El Cortez 3.) Excalibur

With the wife or not? Have you been in the New T-Mobile arena yet Ghoolie? It's awesome.

With the wife Zumanity wouldn't be bad.

By yourself, Fantasy in Luxor is legit.

KA is horrible.

Haven't seen Absinthe.

Also, do you gamble? What's your game of choice and where?

You should bet a Josh Gordon prop bet.

Yes, and I agree, It is beautiful, It was a spectactular addition.

With the wife Zumanity wouldn't be bad.

We have seen all the Cirqe Shows. Michael Jackson and THe Beatles were garbage.

By yourself, Fantasy in Luxor is legit.

Saw it with the wife. T&A Maximus. PH has a lesbian Zombie show............. pretty hot.

Better than The Beatles and Michael Jackson,  but it also is not their best effort.

If you get a chance, do so. If you can swing 1st or 2nd row tickets, do that too. The show is performed in a tent, on maybe an 18 x 18 area. Very, good acrobats, very vintage bawdy stuff.

Also, do you gamble? What's your game of choice and where?

Slots. $5, $10, $25, $100.  Oddly enough, our success comes mostly in nearby Tunica, MS. Horsehoe is a Caesars property, and Gold Strike. Las Vegas is tighter than a nun's count for slots. If you play the higher denominations, the Strip pays higher than Downtown. If you play $ 0.50 and smaller, Downtown has better odds. If you play $1 slots, there is no difference. Of the places I do play in Vegas, Caesars is more likely to pay smaller hand pays, but more often ($ 4,000 or smaller). Bally's is the best if you want to build your tier score and lose your money over time, slowly. High Roller at Madalay Bay has been decent to us.

Since Caesars began their bankruptcy stuff it seems tougher, and if Caesars tightened up, so did MGM since it made no sense to be generous when the other guy was struggling. My bet is this will be a good trip. Based on Trump knocking the economic ball out of the park, travel to Vegas has picked up, even considering the shooting.

You should bet a Josh Gordon prop bet.

I usually don't bet on Sports, but I did put a $1,000 on the Browns to win less than 4.5 I would need to be there next Sunday to collect, but I will cash in, in February when I go back.

Best Restaurant....    For our money..  Hugo's Cellar---Four Queens.

It is indeed a wonderful place. Let's be honest, everyone has favorites, and it is pretty hard to get bad food on the strip or Freemont.

As far as Steaks go, however, Bardot, Tom Collichio's, (Craft at MGM)  Mon Ami Gabi and Gallagher's are above the rest. I had a $425 Waygu NY Strip at Collichio's, I don't know that it was that much better than a regular aged NY Strip, but it really was the tits.

Not a fan of that place. It's not anything to sneeze at, just not a favorite.

I do, but as I said in another post, the wife and I build our tier score mostly in near by Tunica, MS. We routinely make 7 Star w Caesars, and Platinum with MGM. Man, Vegas is really tight for slot play.

FatBurger beats In-and-Out for a fast food burger. HOWEVER..............there is no Burger in Vegas that tops Sammy's Burgers and Pastrami. It is a local hangout. A walk up/drive through that cooks to order. Get a bacon Cheesburger and Parmesan fries. You won't eat a burger in Vegas anywhere else.

I play poker, blackjack, and high roller slots. I've hit $1195 on wheel of fortune $5 machines in the orleans. $10 max bet. That's my favorite machine in vegas. I hear they have a $100 wheel of fortune machine at the cosmopolitan. What are some of your favorite high roller slots? I'm sure you've probably tried wheel of fortune. All you need is one spin to win some serious cash.

Check your betting slip because some have a time limit on how long you can keep it before cashing. Sometimes it's like 60 days. If you're not sure, then check with the place where you made the bet to see if they have a time limit on collecting.

I almost got caught on that one. I had placed a bet during the summer for an upcoming game the first college weekend which occurred more that 60 days from when I made the bet. I sent  it back after they had declined to honor it with a note that the game was played AFTER their time limit from the time I made the bet at their establishment and that if that was how they treated it, then they should not have had it up on the board. They realized that someone had screwed up by not seeing that I had gotten it in before their time limit which should have been from the day the game was played, not the day I made the bet.

Always some BS. I think at 0 - 12 they should pay my bet of "Less than 4.5 wins" since there is no way I can lose. However, if I am Caesars I am not going to pay the bet until the season is over. Interest on money....4 more weeks means interest on my money before they pay me. I imagine the odds on betting the Browns win 1 out of their remaining 4 will not be much more than even money. However, I bet the odds for betting the Browns to get 2 wins are pretty sky high.

I really think if the Steelers clinch early, the browns will be playing their third string bench, and have a crazy, overlooked chance to win.

We will see. It is hard for me to watch this poor bunch of guys play. It's really bad.

WTF is "KA" ?

Regardless....nothing is better than the Beatles.

It is a Cirque show that plays at MGM in Vegas. The Beatles and Michael Jackson Cirque shows blow goat caulk. KA is better, it is a very big, ominous looking show featuring some big machines. Two years ago a poor young girl lost her life on stage when she accidentally slid down a very tall climbing wall of war due to not having her safety cable attached. In the old days I think the show would have gone dark for a year (No show, but the headline stays up - That's what they did when Roy got chomped on by Monecore). I was surprised that they just churned on..............but I guess there is a big difference between a star being injured versus a replaceable  acrobat, eh?

I have secured an audition for a new Cirque show that will be released in the next 2 years........(as a multi-instrumentalist in the band........not as an acrobat, lol) It would be a dream retirement job for me. I hear however that for the young performers, the shows offer very little in the way of benefits and job security. That's why I persued science and not music as a career.

The shame of it is the same poor crew in the FO are going to squander a golden opportunity to make this team at least an 8-8 2018 improvement and Hue will insure that even if they pick right, he  makes them no better than 4-12. He is a godawful excuse for a HC even on the high school level in Texas. A good Texas HS would have sent him packing already.

The FO needs to do "the opposite" of what their instincts tell them. Trade away some of those later round picks to move up one or two of those 2nd rounders. Time to cash in, not trade down for more Sheet players. I swear a consensus of BB members could pick better in this upcoming draft than the brainiac losers in that FO. We have the worst 3rd team QBs (all 3 of 'em) in the entire league.

PS-good luck  on your retirement job audition. Nothing wrong with pursuing a dream. I have mine down pat---mowing the yard, still playing racquetball well, having a fine wine or a fine sipping rum now and again, grilling a nice steak and reading an excellent book. Throw in cussing bad football coaching every Sunday and my week is made.

PS Again-and now I get to see if $75mil finally gets A&M a national champion in my lifetime. 80 plus change years by the time that contract expires. Not gonna hold my breath for them or the Browns.

I have a betting slip  from 1999  when I was in Lake Tahoe.  It was the week when the Browns played the Bengals.  Akili Smith led the Bangles to like a one or two point last second victory.  This is like the only game he ever started and won in his career.  Though the Browns lost, they did cover the spread, which was like 3 or 5 pts.  I was pissed because they lost that way...and never cashed in the ticket.   It was only good for like 5 bucks anyway. I still have it in my souvenir album from that trip.

Can I assume it is no longer any good?

OK, you are saying that this particular Vegas show is better than the Vegas shows about the Beatles and MJ.  Fair enough.  I misunderstood.

Good luck on the audition.

Some of the hookers you were talking to, in fact, most of them in the strip casinos, were cops, not hookers. Prostitution is illegal in Las Vegas and while the constant influx of new girls makes cataloging them all pretty impossible, Vegas really does a good job of keeping that to a minimum. Those girls that sit down next to you in the Casino and ask you "would you like company" are looking to arrest you. And, no, it is not entrapment for them to do that.

However, there are a lot of hookers on the street for sure, not as many as one would think, but nonetheless, it is all part of the Vegas Christmas experience. I hope you had fun. There is no place on Earth that I would rather be. Can't get enough of it.
