THE BROWNS BOARD

Official Jacksonville Jaguar Game Thread

We have a very tough match-up against the Jags and this game is going one of two ways. Either we get blown out or we win. Let me explain. The Jags' defense is for real and laden with 1st round talent across the board. They get tons of sacks by rushing just 4 and remain physical everywhere else. They give up on average 10 less points and game than we do and they lead the league in sacks. They also average about 60 more rushing yards a game and this weather will dictate more ground yards are required to win.

So how can we win? Blake Bortles can help us win. If he has one of "those" games, and he does every year, we can steal it. Every week he puts the ball in harm's way and gives the defense chances to score points. The weather is going to be bad, and just one touchdown can be the difference. We get our crowd into it and put some pressure on them, and we can keep it close. Very similarly to how we beat the Bolts last year.

That being said, it can also be a complete blow out for the defensive reasons stated in the beginning of the post. Kizer has bruised ribs and is playing the defense who sacks the qb the most. Not good. He could fumble it, throw picks, or God forbid get hurt. Make no mistake, the Jags get to the qb. They didn't sack Rivers, but they made him extremely uncomfortable. Our defense HAS to score, our special teams HAVE to make a big play, and if we can keep it within a one score game, we have a shot to win late. It's not a great match up for us, we all realize that, but sooner or later, we have to win one guys. We have to put together a complete game. All 4 quarters, all sides of the ball, and limited mistakes. And I want it to happen at home.

Yeah, I believe Chris Ivory is the backup, and he can definitely hurt you. But still, I'd rather Fournette sit this one out. Lol. I also read Tretter and Coleman are expected to start on the OL, so that's a plus.

Thanks, jigs... giving us a shot we wouldn't have with the bot.

Fournette's ankle helps some, but we have to have Coleman and Tretter start to have a hope.

Well, at least we have a team and they're playing NFL football games on Sundays.  I remember when all of a sudden we had NO team.  It was miserable.  We not only went winless for three seasons....we went gameless.   Here's another chance to get off the schnide.  The Jags are a strong running team.   They're strong against the pass but allow rushing yardage.  We'll see if we can 'steal' a win this week.

Coleman and Tretter looking good for today, and we need EVERYTHING we can get to go our way for this one. I'm not kidding when I say this might be our worst match up so far during this painful season...and that's saying a lot. If we could JUST get defensive touchdown or other big scoring play...I think that would go a long way. I foresee an ugly weather type game where a single mistake could turn the tide early. And WE HAVE to keep it close early or this one could get away from us. You DO NOT want to get down to this team and be forced to pass all day because their pass rushers WILL destroy you. Jags defense doesn't stop the run particularly well, so hopefully we can establish it early and often.

Lil worried about Coleman, Shon as most he saw was "Light practice" on Friday, which I believe translates to "was not concussion cleared for contact".

Rest looks very promising with exception of Jamar Taylor and his ankle... but should not be a determining factor if he can't go.

JAX is looking worse with Hurns, Omameh and Parnell listed as "Out" by rotoworld, but strangely NFL.com has the two starting OL "officially" listed as questionable despite not practicing all week.

Then there's the matter of "Robby" Bortles?
