If we had jalapeno peppers at home I'd try those for an appetizer today haven't had them in a while. I used to buy the frozen ones and heat and eat but these are going on the menu for our next shopping trip. Today's GAMEDAY meal is going to be grilled smoked sausage on big buns and the usual go alone like olives, dill pickles, chips with spinach dip and whatever else we dig up. GO BROWNS, no skyline chili today.
ballpeen
String beans and taters. Love 'em. I make them to this day. Mama was born and raised in Alabama. She may have moved to Ohio when she got married to my father, but she brought her mama's cooking with her. She did add some onion to the recipe you posted.. Every time that I see that recipe I get really hungry for it, my wife too. You can smell it and almost taste it...... reminds me of my grandmother's kitchen who was the best cook I've ever known. So simple and so good. My wife prefers the corn bread...... which I like too. Ummmmmm, dang I'm hungry for it again. ........ edit add, showed this to my wife who agrees onions would be great with this dish ! Cbus Brownie
Fresh Thyme. Whole Foods like chain in Cbus. They had a sale way back and I backed up the truck and filled the freezer. Tomahawks are typically a rip off. They charge you more because of the curb appeal, but it’s just a ribeye with a bone in it. Looks cool though. 1

I know what you mean about almost being able to smell it when thinking about it. I think all of our grandma's were the best cook we have ever known. The onions add a nice flavor to the liquor. The onion itself is pretty tasteless after boiling out the beans, but does flavor the whole pot. My sister and I would take the corn bread and crumble it up in the bowl to form almost a cornbread "mush".

Once you get over the hump where your stomach shrinks and you're not ravenous f-ing starved it gets easy. Just don't need the food I once craved. Of course, not benching 400 lbs anymore either. 1

TexasAg1969
Looks like some great cancer generating meats there jcam. I on the other hand am indulging in God's cure for everything, an excellent little 2017 Zinfandel from a small vineyard in California called High Valley. It will be accompanied by a nice little Mozzarella string cheese. Nothing but heart helpers & cancer killer meds for me. LOL!🧀🍷😋 10 hours ago, jcam222 said: Nice fall day to smoke.
