So... you are against the players who choose to speak, but you support the right of "people" to freely speak.  Except for the players, of course.. because to you, they aren't people any more.

And you don't recognize the inherent contradiction between "supporting freedom when it doesn't align with your opinion" and "telling the players that they don't get to have an opinion" ?

Got it!

Nobody is waiting around for your acknowledgement of anything.  Your "acknowledgement" has no bearing on the validity of a protest.

You have no power in this situation - none at all.

The only issue at hand is whether or not you support governmental clampdowns on their expression.  And frankly, if you do, everything you posted about believing in the constitution is complete and total bullshit.

You're pathetic.

My 2 cents:

The Jags and Rats protesting while in a foreign country borders on treason.

U are an idiot. Dont question this either, just take it in an accept it as constructive criticism from ur lord and master. There isnt anything remotely treasonous about kneeling on some grass or locking arms........idiot boy. Discuss this internally with urself we'll come back to it later.

Bad move by Trump here. The NFL has been quite strongly trying to push the "pledge" shit under the rug that the Mullatto man started and he brings it up again. Now Republican owners are pissed at him along with the other owners. Ouch.

Precisely^^^

from THE VERY BEGINNING i said here just leave kaepernick alone. Pay him no attn. But thats too much to ask. A colored boy has to be put in his place so ofc u hear this indignant slightly racially tinged rheyoric against him and now other players took up his cause just because it annoyed certain white folk.

Now we have trump full on playing into that narrative and in essence proving what alot of the players were saying from the beginning. Now this thing is gonna have legs. Now athletes from other sports are getting involved. Good work there asshole

"trump is obviously a smart dude". Not based on his tweets, speeches, limited vocabulary, endless lies, or track record of epic business failures. He's always wrong and never sorry. That's the best way to describe him. he's not a leader and never was. Leaders take the blame when shit hits the fan. he points fingers and hurls insults, and that's happened since the 70's. What he's a genius at is conning suckers and riling up the rubes/rednecks. It's what got him elected.

Regardless, he just throws gas on the fire with his Retarded tweets on these matters instead of diffusing them. It all goes back to his history of never admitting he made a mistake, lied about something, or that someone else had a good idea. The POTUS has better and much more important things to do than argue with NBA and NFL players over Twitter. The whole thing is beyond Retarded.

The problem is that hundreds of people who were veterans even said publicly on the browns facebook page that they would quit watching if our players would kneel. Kenny Britt kneeled a lot last year (even when I saw the rams play).

Remember, Jim Brown publicly told the Browns players not to kneel or disrespect the flag. Hue Jackson said publicly he "did not want our players protesting during the anthem". Does this say anything about Hue's control of the locker room, or do you think this will eventually calm down?

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/hue-jackson-does-not-want-to-see-browns-players-protest-during-anthem/

Hue Jackson and Jim Brown come off as HUGE sellout, so fuck what Jim Brown has to say about the topic. His friends with that orange faced buffoon that actually supports Nazi and the KKK ideas. And no this topic isn't going away as police brutality against minorities is a VERY real thing (which the POTUS encourages once again). Unfortunately a lot of middle age white dudes would just rather turn the blind eye or pretend racism isn't a real thing, than talk about the issues on hand. Protests aren't suppose to be convenient or away from the public eye and the players have repeated said they support our troops and non-blacking beating police officers.

News flash: The fact that you only want to give the label of "people" to protest that you approve of...... shows that you don't actually believe one word you posted.

The only issue at hand is whether or not you support governmental clampdowns on the expression of the players.  And frankly, if you do, everything you posted about believing in the constitution is complete and total bullshit.

How you got any of that from my post is beyond me. I think it's clear I support their right to protest even if I disagree with what they protest. I also made it clear I would never support the government forcing support.

It's real simple weather they like trump or not he does not matter.  They are entertainers period.  We the people consume there product.  And the players just pissed off a lot off people me being one of them.  So I will not be watching anymore.  I believe in there freedom to protest on there own time.  But I'm against them being assholes. So as I said no more for me.

if corrupt, dirty obaMao was president, these black players would not give a damn about

"inequality" and "poverty". About half of America put up with obaMAOass for eight years. If I had

been an NFL player, I would NEVER HAVE DISRESPECTED our FLAG, our MILITARY, etc.

But, the left has sour grapes over losing their chance at socialism.

boo hoo,  Was just watching "Tailgate 19"... Josh Cribbs said the president was being divisive and caused all this...

sorry, Josh, but Bob Golic nailed it - they started it before the president ever said anything. All this bandwagon stupidity over

losing the election. Next thing you know - Ken Brittlehands will say he drops passes because he is "protesting"

poverty and inequality. Well, there was just as much poverty during eight years of obamao, and you didn't give a frack then.

“During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition...

...It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.”

Not saying I wanted him or Hilary Clinton to be president. I think they're both awful in their own unique ways. However to come from a reality T.V. star to trick the American people into voting you into president has to say something about the dudes intelligence. His tweets are childish, and he's acting like a child with the NFL and NBA tweets, but it was remarkable and shocking how he upset the presidency and won.

He doesn't take responsibility when he's wrong and admit being wrong, but he also doesn't bend the knee the way Obama did to social justice warriors. In fact, I think Unsympathetic said that Trump was trying to use his power to stop the protest of the NFL players free speech, but I think where Trump was getting at, was that people shouldn't be discussing politics or protesting politics during their work. Football is an escape, yet players sit or leave during the anthem. Sure, that's their right and I'm sure people respect that, but it doesn't do jack for solving things and making the country a better place to live.

Trump opposed the PC political cultural marxism and I think that's one of the main reasons he got voted in.... In his childish tweets, he was trying to say that social justice or politics doesn't have any place in football, but by doing that, it caused only more protesting. Trump should of just stayed out of football and kept his eye on running the nation since it was a very childish and dumb thing to do. He simply can't admit when he's wrong without acting like a ten year old.

I agree with you SD_Tom, but, also I don't think politics has any place in football, nor will it solve the nations problems at all.

I hear you. His rhetoric is exactly what got him in. I think it has less to do with his intelligence and more with the immense hate and fear in most of rural America. he's great at feeding off people's fears and hate.  He's a master at it  like all great con-men and salesmen. He'll say anything and promise anything to get the deal.

I think the players are just trying to bring enough attention so the issues get addressed by people who can actually do something. Other than donating $$$ (which many did, esp CK. he donated $1 million I think) they can't do anything. Now they're just doing it to spite him.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Trump's just using this as a distraction from the other bigger issues in the country. He always finds a way to get people riled up.

This sums up how I feel about protests during the National Anthem. I respect and cherish freedom of speech, but do you have to spit in the face of the very men and women who allow you to enjoy it?

To you NFL players kneeling........

Take a little trip to Valley Forge in January. If you don't know where that is, just Google it from the sidelines. Hold a musket ball in your fingers and imagine it piercing your flesh and breaking a bone or two. There won't be a doctor or trainer to assist you until after the battle, so just wait your turn.Take your cleats and socks off to get a real experience. Then take a knee.

Then, take a knee at the beach in Normandy where, man after American man, stormed the beach, even as the one in front of him was shot to pieces...the very sea stained with American blood. The only blockers most had were the dead bodies in front of them, riddled with bullets from enemy fire.

Take a knee in the sweat soaked jungles of Vietnam. from Khe San to Saigon...Anywhere will do. Americans died in all those jungles. There was no playbook that told them what was next, but they knew what flag they represented. When they came home, they were protested as well..and spit on for reasons only cowards know.

Take another knee in the blood drenched sands of Fallujah in 110 degree heat..Wear your Kevlar helmet and battle dress...Your number won't be printed on it unless your number is up! You'll need to stay hydrated but there won't be anyone to squirt Gatorade into your mouth. You're on your own.

There's a lot of places to take a knee. Americans have given their lives all over the world. When you use the banner under which they fought as a source for your displeasure, you dishonor the memories of those who bled for the very freedoms you have. That's what the red stripes mean. It represents the blood of those who spilled a sea of it defending your liberty.

While you're on your knee, pray for those that came before you, not on a manicured lawn striped and printed with numbers to announce every inch of ground taken...but on nameless hills and bloodied beaches and sweltering forests and bitter cold mountains...every inch marked by an American life lost serving that flag you protest.

No cheerleaders, no announcers, no coaches, no fans...just American men and women...delivering the real fight against those who chose to harm us...blazing a path so you would have the right to "take a knee."

You haven't an inkling what it took to get you where you are...but your "protest" is duly noted. Not only is it disgraceful to a nation of real heroes, it serves the purpose of pointing to your ingratitude for those who chose to defend you under that banner that will still wave long after your jersey is retired...

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Have you actually looked this up?  Because it doesn't exist.

http://operations.nfl.com/media/2725/2017-playing-rules.pdf

Search for anthem.  0 results

Search for flag.  Only results are for partial return for the word flagrant.

Took me longer to download the PDF than it did to find it.

Nopie. A lot of us don't like our Flag disrespected. That's all. The hypocrisy and cowardice of this NFL commish weasel is glaringly obvious. Consider: (Thanks to OBF for bringing THIS up)

http://www.dailywire.com/news/8332/nfl-rejects-dallas-cowboys-honoring-slain-police-hank-berrien

right. Cowboys weren't allowed to honor fallen policemen, but they think it's okay to DISHONOR our Flag, our Military, everything great about America  - but if they were going to walk back to the lockerroom to "protest" fake man made global warming... oh, the NFL would stomp that out right now. The left is organized, and corrupt/aggressive/fake narrative driven. It's their dangerous m.o.

The NFL is buckling under. I'm not happy with Trump for that mistake - it made a stupidass controversy worse. But Disrespect our Flag? WTF? Just because they CAN?  Hell with their player's union now.

Can we get back to talking about the Browns egg they laid yesterday? :)
