You don't read posts well, I just said earlier that we always donate to the firefighter fund raisers. Of course unions are needed.

But your blanket support of them is bs, that's all, Bob. Why do you donate to the AFL-CIO? RICHARD TRUMKA?

Thanks for donating, it helps more than you think.

I'm  sure Trumka gets a slice of my .50, not sure how much. I liken that to purchasing something from a company, like say Wal Mart, and they take a slice of that profit and back/contribute to a cause I can't agree with.

Bottom line, to me anyway, is no matter what we believe in, there's a counter to it in politics somewhere. Unfortunately,  capitalism breeds this. I don't  know how little folks can change it, and it's probably too far gone to change it. Lobbyists probably make more money than any of us on the Browns Board.

Well, I reckon you are just gonna have to ask that question some time... "can I stop giving my 50 cents to the AFL-CIO...", though that may not be a good idea. lol

My Wifie retired from teaching, long since had a masters, and she always had to pay her union dues...but she was conservative, like me. A lot smarter - but conservative like me. She never worried about it. She just never discussed politics at work. One day, a union rep tried to pin her down, so to speak, about if she was going to vote democratic. I think it was billy clinton? Well, my Wifie finally said "NO" and the union rep got in her face a bit. Well, my Wifie could have made her look like a turd, but her friends, who were pretty liberal, got all over the union rep and told her to get the hell out, mind her own business, and that that isn't what a union rep does.

If I had known, I would have gotten involved, but they really handled it, and never told me til later on, probly for good reason. lol

I started to question the use of "capitalism", but it's pretty much freedom and competition. "with freedom there must be responsibility" and there are always those who ignore the responsibility part. Lobbyists are like union bosses - they make huge money, and everybody else they "represent" doesn't. I'm actually pro-good union, Bob, I wish I had had a union as a corp programmer/analyst/business analyst. With no protection in your job - I could tell you stories of other people, and myself included.

I'd rather be in a good union that paid dues of 40 bucks a YEAR, but whatever. The big money flowing into big unions has far too often lent itself to abuse of power politics, corrupt representation, and international/national influence of marxist groups, etc etc.

Like, the SEIU - the "service employees international union"

   Here is some serious stuff:

http://sonorannews.com/2017/05/09/cair-fifth-column-us-targeting-american-children-public-schools/

"Members of the SDUSB has been endorsed and supported in their elections by CAIR, and by Soros’ funded Progressive, Marxists, Anti-American, and pro-Illegal Aliens & pro-Muslim Refugees organizations (i.e. Free Press, La Raza, America Federation of Teachers, Planned Parenthood, SEIU, NOW, the AFL-CIO Labor Council, the CA Democratic Party, Muslim Advocates, Catholic Alliance For Common Good, the Rotary Peace Committee, the Peace & Freedom Party, and the Communist Party USA).
