Take a good look at that bowl schedule and tell me why the stuck in the last century (somewhere) D-1A leadership couldn't easily do an 8 team playoff?

Q: And why are there so many B1G tie-in to the bowl games?

A: Because B1G fans traditionally travel in B1G numbers and spend B1G money! ;)

There are plenty of B1G teams going bowling but that is kind of amazing.

And I still have trouble remembering Maryland and Rutgers as true Midwest teams...but Penn State has done alright.

Maryland actually did pretty well with Boardman, Ohio native DJ Durkin as first year coach but Rutgers has been sinking since Greg Schiano left and his reign was only 2001-2011 (.504) and he was the only winning coach since 1983 at Tony Soprano U. Not really a solid pick up for the B1G.

8 team playoff would be lame. OSU already beat OU. The 4 good Big 10 teams have all played each other. There's no point other than that people always complain about the status quo.

And I have zero desire to watch Western Michigan play a football game, much less as an 8 seed in Tuscaloosa.

I like 6. Reward the top 2 with byes. Maybe make the first round on home fields

Personally I hate byes give the best teams (ALABAMA needs a breather?) an extra week to heal meanwhile the lesser teams are further taxed.

Home field is reward enough. Besides the D-1A playoffs are now near the end of 2016 or in with the 2017 games. Move it to 8 and it will a little better...or 16 like the rest of America.

This year #1 (-15) looks a world apart but #2-7 would be all somewhat interesting matchups, plus rematchs can be exciting.

And WM does have their bowl game like what 66 other teams? (I didn't count.)

I'm fine with expanding. I just think this year is a horrible piece of evidence for why it should happen.

And rematches are completely unfair to the team that won the first one IMO.

The bye rewards the top team. Makes the regular season means something

The only time byes mean much is if the playoffs start soon after the regular season not a month out.

Plus the non-bye teams end up playing one extra game. Rewards are the better seeding.

Might be a moot point for the D-1A teams anyway I don't think that they are going to change to the normal playoff format anyway.
