LogicIsForSquares
I mean polls are open for 13 hours. I don't think too many people out there are working the 6:30-7:30 shift I worked that shift constantly when I did juvie corrections. My wife still works that as an RN. bbedward
All 50 do allow absentee voting. 20 of them require an excuse (work probably works as an excuse) - after looking into it
calfoxwc
Right. Something works for you, and not as well for someone else. That other side wants it changed to make it easier for everyone. Therefore that person is playing the victim card... That is the main reason I can't get on board with a lot of conservative principles. It's a vote for stagnation (at best). Things work for me and they always have, fuck anyone else. You can easily make this better for everyone, but you're against it, because that's change, and you just automatically believe any change is bad. That's just an emotional knee jerk. They've had early voting in all sorts of states... we have early voting. So? What's the big deal about changing to a weekend? Why not just make it Sat/Sun/Mon/Tues ? I don't care, I just think that -changing- it to have the honor of making it different, is ignorant. We go on weekend trips here and there. If it was only on a weekend, what the hell improvement is that? What's wrong with adding a weekend, and keeping the Tues? What the farging is so mindblowingly edifiying to change things just to get the power to screw with stuff?
Westside Steve
A better question would be, given the dirty and probably illegal tricks of the Democrats recently, would be why do we vote at all? Who gives a rat's ass what day it's on but Tuesday is probably a slow day at work. WSS

What the farging is so mindblowingly edifiying to change things just to get the power to screw with stuff? Go ahead and make it open Sat-Tues. It isn't change just for the sake of change. It is change to make it better, more accessible. Just because it doesn't personally make it better for you, doesn't mean it isn't helping anyone else. Opposed to those that want to keep it the same because "it's always been that way". If voting was on a Saturday, and you went on vacation that weekend, that's really your own problem. Vacations wouldn't be a treat to yourself if vacations occurred more than working on a Tuesday.
LogicIsForSquares
Voting on a Saturday would 100% benefit people who have 'skin in the game' so to speak. If you are some do-less turd then voting on a Tuesday is easy as hell, voting on any day is easy for you.

A lot harder to do that with work than a voluntary vacation

Westside Steve
^ this Cal A vacation is completely optional. I think you could schedule around this. A lot harder to do that with work than a voluntary vacation Lol.I've never really had a vacation. One of the things about my job is if I'm not working I'm not making any money. So it's not like I get to take a weekend off and they send me a check from Put-in-Bay. But we aren't back to that golly it's just too hard to go vote bullshit again are we? Of course if you want to talk about voter suppression the early voting station in this area is done around the university somewhere. Which is a Monumental pain-in-the-ass to get in and out of and navigate. I would assume the reason for that is that the Board of Elections is Democrat here in Summit County and the only people it would be convenient to are kids, not actual grown up working people. I have no problem with an early voting Center being located on the campus. But when that's the only one it sucks everybody who doesn't live there doesn't it? Michigan requires an excuse for early voting, so I guess that's why you think it's fuckin stupid. (it is stupid) Here in Ohio we're not re-tarded like them and we do no-excuse early voting. I shouldn't dog on Michigan too hard though, since they're going red this year <

Well to be honest what I'm thinking moreso is that of course not all places would close and thus the "educated" vote would probably go up (aka office folks) and the other vote would be by random guess.
