Nice to watch Gabe not get crushed in our dink/dunk package. A QB helps, But surprise to me? Gabe-16 grabs-227 yrds. 1 TD,14.2 ypc. ...Hawk-22 grabs-224 yrds. 3 TD's, 10.2 yrds per catch. Both have 2 rush carries Gabe-24 yrds. Hawk-nothing..Hope that Holly "wood" Higgins gets off the wood, cuz watching Lue/miss is like 4 hours of Viagra with no boners :o

Keep in mind the other 10 players on the field with Gabe & Hawk. Quite a difference there. Factor that in.

Taylor Gabriel had an excellent game for Atlanta last night, as did Mack (commentator said he was the best player in their line). Ouch Ouch Ouch!

Yeah, we're really missing those 200 yards he has on the year against single coverage while the rest of the secondary tries to cover Julio. That would have us at least 5-3.

Pretty sure the "dianetics" is what told us NOT to take Jared Goff....

Ag, you used to b**ch and moan ALL THE TIME about having midget receivers and now you wanna cry about Taylor Gabriel throwing up stats? Give me a frickin break. Ridiculous.

Where in the world did you hear that? They wanted Jared Goff and couldn't get him. They did not want Carson Wentz.

I was crying about Mack and merely responding to your prior post on Gabe. Would you have preferred separate paragraphs for your edification? Here you are.

Mack (commentator said he was the best player in their line) had an excellent game as well. Ouch Ouch Ouch!

I had zero doubts about Gabriel's ability to play well in the right offense. Just like Dion Lewis (I really wanted him), but he can't stay healthy, and that's a shame. I'm not sure it was worth keeping a guy like Payton and giving up on Gabriel. I was hearing from somewhere that the rookies are having a difficult time getting open, but I am not sure that's true. I don't have the "bird's eye" view angle available, but it wouldn't surprise me. Ricardo can get open, but he has the "skillet hands" supreme. They're young, and hopefully they all get some playing time and improve. I always thought Gabriel would've been good in the Patriots system (duh, who wouldn't). How many times was Gabriel open deep a year or two ago? A bunch.

Price wouldn't have been that steep. We may have "wanted" him, but not in any appreciable way.

Well, he put up about 900 yds his 2 years here....and was CLEARLY one of our better preseason players.....outplayed all 4 of the rookie WR's too....clearly outplayed em.....yet, they were kept and he was cut.....(and, being a udfa, id guess he was very cheap)

Yep...he was open deep frequently.....and had return skills too....

what about cutting Payton or Higgins or Louis(who were all out played by Gabe)??......Gabe was not a slot WR, like Hawk....he played wide most of the time. Might be short like Hawk, but thats where the comparables stop.....

Don't forget about Seth DeValve!

You don't expect the FO to cut one of THEIR draft picks do you?

That would be like admitting they were wrong.

Actually I would hope they'd admit they made a mistake. Vince Mayle from 2015. Looks like DeValve needs a Valve job,and Lewis can't catch a cold.

As Mud has pointed out- this current incarnation of the FO isn't above criticism, not by a long shot.

Agree, even Ray Farmer cut his own pick (Mayle) which shows he made a mistake.

I believe there's much more arrogance in the current FO and they wouldn't admit to being wrong.

Given a choice between Devalve and Gabe... I'd keep Gabe. I won't mount an similar defense of our FO vs. other WRs, but I think Devalve has a chance to be special.

And this is coming from a Gabe backer... who doesn't remember much support for Gabe at the time.

I feel like we might win this week. Somebody is gonna fall asleep against us. Dallas seems about ready for a nap.

Agree... I've heard us referred to as a "trap game". An 0-fer team as the opponent in the middle of a Philly/Pittsburgh sandwich certainly is the right set up.

I went back and read the roster cut threads and....basically....folks were "surprised" that Gabe was cut and many felt that he'd had a strong camp and preseason.....(myself included.....I had him making the final roster)......

BUT....no one was upset and the consnsus seemed to be:

1) he was cut because he was too short.....

2) he was cut because Higgins and Payton were gonna be stars

3) he was cut because we already had Hawkins

My response to those arguments is:

1) he's big enough(and fast enough) to make plays....

2) Um....not seeing it so far....

3) he's not a slot....why do people keep saying this????

And....he can return......we cut him, Moore and Gilbert.....has anyone looked at out return stats this year???.....last year was 25 yd avg.....this year = 17 yd avg........horrible horrible horrible....

Moore, Gabe and/or Gilbert returning kicks would look pretty damn good right about now...

We didn't have the first pick. And we traded the second. This year we might well have the first. I hope they aren't in love with Watson or Kyzer.

WSS

Point is when you're a whopping one pick away from the guy you feel can be your franchise QB, you pull the trigger on that trade. I don't think they felt Goff was, given that they didn't pull said trigger.

They thought picks were more important than Wentz too. As usual, we have almost noting to show for the trade down. How are are those extra Wrs working out?

We'll get a win.

Somebody will fall asleep against us one of these weeks...

Not this week though. :(

Dallas was napping and still beat the tar out of us. Speaking of- it looked like the Browns defense was asleep most of the game. Can't tackle, can't pass rush (I think Prescott might have been harassed once) and sure can't pass defend. those two Cowboy TDs were downright disgusting with nary a defender in the same area code.

I've decided to try out for the Browns DB slot that uncovers everyone in sight. If they allow me to carry my racquetball racquet I have as good a shot at throwing it and hitting the ball as our DB's do at interception.

I did get to watch that second abomination at my pal's house on replay after the game. Looked like Calhoun? decided to help double cover the WR over the middle. Golly gee, no one has that guy split out wide. Any HS qb would have seen that, and made the throw.

If it's the TD to Beasley, it's Haden and Williams miscommunicating, worryingly.
