THE BROWNS BOARD

0-16 in our sights

I was hoping the Browns were going to get their first win of the season. As the game went on, the Browns had a nice lead, and as always, we give it away and lose once again. 0-16 is looking like the end result for this season. The Jets were the weakest team we have to meet, and we blow it. Draft pick #1 and possibly 2 first rd picks , the other is from the Eagles for the Wentz trade.

Well, I thought before this game that'd we probably have our best chance of the season to win against the Jets, and I was right. It WAS our best chance, but we simply aren't good enough. We aren't good enough to put together 4 quality quarters of football. We've seen that we can do a good first half, or even second half, but that's it. I don't think it comes down to "adjustments" like several articles have stated, rather I think it simply comes down to just "making plays." How many interceptions did we drop? Two or three, right? Maybe they were very tough plays, but that's what it COMES DOWN TO in the NFL! When the plays are there, the good teams make them, and the bad teams don't.

For example, in the first half we were dominating, and we had the Jets in a 3rd and 13 or something. Haden had solid coverage (I think on Marshall), and Fitzy threw an awful ball way out of bounds. It looked like a forced punt...but no! Haden was flagged for a stupid penalty. And you know what? It WAS a penalty. Haden often gets away with grabbing, but when the official sees the jersey stretch, they will call it almost EVERY time. What drives me INSANE is that the coverage was decent! He didn't have to panic and start grabbing, but it's what Haden does now. He doesn't trust his ability anymore. And you know what? The Jets used this penalty to go down and score a TD. It was probably the biggest play of the first half and it gave the Jets life. I don't remember what the score was at the time, but it might've been 10-0 or close to it. That penalty right there is enough for me to want to trade Haden for a 6th round pick. Get him out of here, and DON'T get me started on his awful tackling. I love him as a person, and what he meant to our city, but his play pisses me off. That penalty...

All that being said, 0-16 is VERY difficult to do in the NFL. I don't remember specifically, but I want to say the only team to do it was the Lions a few years back (only team to lose all game since the season went to 16). I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it hasn't happened all that much. I still maintain that we're going to win a game somehow. I don't know WHO it will be, but I don't see us losing EVERY game. For instance, that awful Lions team was BAD. And I mean REALLY bad. I'm not saying we're "good", we're obviously not, but we don't get blown out most of the time, and I want to say that Lions team got the business just about every damn week.

For the hope of our franchise, I really hope we get the first overall pick. It would mean so much to us, and it could prove to be the catalyst needed to catapult us out of misery. We're bad, and one player won't take us to the playoffs, but we need talent...BLUE CHIP talent. The first overall pick is absolutely NO guarantee to be a Hall of Fame type talent, but it certainly helps the odds. I've posted a zillion times that I want Myles Garrett, and I don't expect that to ever change. He's everything we need. How many times did Fitzy have forever to throw? I actually thought our pass rush was BETTER, but it's a far cry from being "good". Garrett is also stout against the run, and he's only going to get better. I don't worry about his numbers dropping off, as he's been fighting some nagging injuries and still playing hard. His size/speed combo is near mythical, and he can play any position you can think of on the line in a 3-4 or 4-3. The ONLY other player I really like is Trubiskey, AKA "Mr. Biscuit". However, I think we can have McCown as the backup next year, and we'll have Kessler as the starter. Cody needs to get healthy, and STAY HEALTHY, but I think he's the guy. I really do.

The ofer is still in play. Now we need to start rooting for wentz to get taken out so we have two top 5 picks

I'd never root for a player to get hurt, especially an apparent good guy like Wentz. Our bad for not drafting him. Hey, the Eagles lost yesterday anyway.

0-16 is seriously in play. MHO is Steeler fans will take over the stadium, and they'll be lucky to have 30,000 fans show up Christmas Eve for the Chargers game.

Chargers and Ravens are the only two games left on the slate that look even close to winnable, to me. Even that's a stretch though.

I wouldn't root for Wentz to get injured, but maybe for his receivers to all get suspended...

I hear about how young this team is and how a lot on the D are only in their early 20's OK FINE so then we draft and then what? We will have all young guys again next year! "we are a young team" SO FUCKING WHAT. Other teams seem to turn their shit around with in a year or 2 and see some improvements But here in the Land getting 4 fucking wins is a milestone. I am sick of this losing bullshit and even more sick of hearing we are a young team. START WINNING NOW. The missed tackles yesterday smh I mean WOW, Are you fucking kidding me, The Hail O Mary last week? WHAT THE FUCK? Get Ray Horton the fuck out of here like 6 weeks ago. "This team is hungry for a win?" excuse me while I puke. There is no way to justify the missed tackles I don't care who says what. The front office should offer full refunds to anybody who goes to watch this train wreck. We have 1 decent wr (Pryor) an ok slot guy (Baby Hawk) but he is way to short. and the rest are rookies (Coleman) is the only 1 who will be on the team next year out of the rooks. We should of kept Taylor G who is doing good enough for Atlanta, way better than Retardo Lewis or whatever his name is. I wanted Hue to do good but game in and game out he makes calls that leave the most uneducated football fan scratching his head.

If we go 0-16, we get all of the draft picks, right? That's how it works?

lol... were it only so.

Iggles pick will be about mid-round. Wentz's numbers have come down as the competition level has risen.

if 0 and 16 was in our sights then why are they feeding us the Kool aid of how good this team is? And how hungry they are? And they want to play for Hue?

"We're here to win now." Preseason BS HAHAHAHAHA.

Haden has looked very bad last three years. I don't care about pro bowls because the fans vote regardless of play. It's too late to get anything for Haden. He's been beaten by Mariota last year, he's riddled with injuries and it seems he's seen his best days. But they could try and package a deal with Thomas. I don't see that either. The train has left the station for Haden. I think he stays until retirement.

Oh, we're SO close. To a win. Call me unenthused.

Depends. Who's "they"?

the sunshine pumpers in the FO. Ha Jerrah is laughing at us - effectively said we don't even need Romo to beat you.

More like "if Romo lost to Cleveland, I'd really look stupid."

NFW Romo is an improvement over Dak at this point...

Dak is a testament to hard work and what happens when a talented player is put in a good situation. His offensive line is STOUT, and his running back is supremely talented. He also has the highest rated slot receiver, and a beast of a WR. That's a winning combination. Ironically, if Mack wanted to stay in Cleveland and we signed Mitchell Schwartz...we'd have a similar situation for Cody.

i live in atlanta and right now alex mack is the mvp of the falcons according to the the interviews with team members that i hear on 680 the fan...especially matty ice..i have been watching him and he is fucking clobbering dlinemen...and they cannot say enough about shanahan...i have to admit, he has better talent, but he is making all the right playcalls also...just too bad for us cleveland fans...just can't get it right...

Gabriel's a decent player.

Mack wanted out of Cleveland. So did Shanahan. Nothing we could do.

hoyer underthrew gabriel on so many of those post patterns where he had to practically wait for the ball...i do remember that...ryan has a better arm...makes a big difference...its a shame with mack...look who we have in there now at center...man is he horrible...

Taylor Gabriel had an excellent game for Atlanta last night

Nice to watch Gabe not get crushed in our dink/dunk package. A QB helps, But surprise to me? Gabe-16 grabs-227 yrds. 1 TD,14.2 ypc. ...Hawk-22 grabs-224 yrds. 3 TD's, 10.2 yrds per catch. Both have 2 rush carries Gabe-24 yrds. Hawk-nothing..Hope that Holly "wood" Higgins gets off the wood, cuz watching Lue/miss is like 4 hours of Viagra with no boners :o
