Teams waiting the longest for title

Recommended Posts

This playoff season could bring a situation where a long championship drought could be broken. Here are the teams still mathematically alive in the playoff race and the last year they won a title, or when the organization began:

1908 Cubs

1948 Indians

1961 Rangers YO (year of origin...no titles)

1962 Astros YO

1969 Nationals (Expos) YO

1977 Mariners YO

1983 Orioles

1984 Tigers

1986 Mets

1988 Dodgers

1993 Blue Jays

2009 Yankees

2011 Cardinals

2013 Red Sox

2014 Giants.

Here's hoping the first two on the list make the WS.

1 vs 2 looked like a distinct possibility until 2 lost starting pitchers 2 and 3 and a close call on 1, but still an outside chance pitcher 2 possibly maybe might make a comeback before it's all over.

Hey it's baseball and you never know.

Teams with line through them are deleted from playoffs. Would have like to have seen the two on the bottom deleted as well. Maybe the Mets can win their 1 game playoff series....and of course we want the Tribe to eliminate the whiney assholes from Boston. (at least their fans are whiny assholes)
