Inside the Park... Memories of "The Jake"

I got goosebumps last nite seeing our first walk-off, inside the park HR last nite on SportCenter.

Not for the fact that it was our first since 1916... not quite that old...

Not for the fact that for the first time in baseball history a team had a conventional HR to tie and an inside the park to win...

... but because the stands were full and the place was rocking to a classic Tribe come back victory straight out of the 90's.

That sound a packed Jake makes in those circumstances... it's just different...

It took me back to this... not exactly packed, but I was there... and so was that sound...

According to Statcast, Naquin went from home to home on the final play in 15.69 seconds. It is the fourth fastest inside-the-park home run of the season. The fastest mark is 15.23, set by Eduardo Nunez of San Francisco, who set it when he was with Minnesota on June 2. {too bad he was slow out of the box or he would have done it in less than 15 seconds } ☆☆

The Indians are 20 games above .500 for the first time since the end of the 2013 season, when they were 22 games above .500.

KING AT THE BALLPARK

For Friday's walk-off, LeBron James of the defending NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers was in attendance. It was his first game attended as a fan since the Cavs overcame a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Golden State Warriors in the finals this summer. After the game, James tweeted about the unbelievable finish and noted the ballpark had a great atmosphere.

And just think, it happened on Tom Hamilton's 60th birthday.

.@Indians are 1st team in MLB history to have a game-tying HR and a walk-off inside-the-park HR in same inning (via @eliassports)

Whoa talk about some amazing records from the past this game and other coincidences from this game.

This team doesn't have quite the hitting prowess that the 1990s teams had but the pitching can compete with today's AL Central teams, maybe all the AL teams.

Naquin baby. Solid ROY candidate. Good Ag. Can't wait to see the Tribe in Dallas next weekend

That should be interesting after only three in OAK at 10 pm EDST.....for us bleary eyed Tribe fans and then four serious games in TEX before heading back home.

8-3 on the last homestand, 71-51 with only 40 to go. (Oh and Naquin should have a great shot at ROY down this playoff stretch!)
