The Gipper
The Big 12 has announced that it is going to expand to as many as 14 teams.....as soon as next year. From prior threads you know that I feel this was necessary for them to do. Then, the question is....who joins? It is a 10 team now: Kansas Kansas State Oklahoma OK State TCU Texas Tech Baylor Texas West Va Iowa State. The 4 candidates are likely to come from either the Conf. USA, the American Conf. or the Mountain West Any of these could be involved: Houston SMU Memphis Tulsa Cincinnati Rice Southern Miss UTEP La. Tech Colorado St. Boise St. New Mexico San Diego St. UNLV or Nevada BYU My personal preference would be for them to stick to a geographic frame of reference....which of course they won't do if they think they can make more money elsewhere. West Va. to me is not a fit for them. Houston seems the most natural. To expand into neigboring states then Colorado St. would be a choice, and maybe New Mexico. Memphis would be on the fringe but could work OK.
