They can be very high London. Try either of the 2 I listed. Good ratings at half the price of others. You can get cheaper rates further away from the city over toward the airport. Gipper also had a good idea.

I checked it out, there is one hotel not too far from the stadium that is going for $35.00 per night on Hotwire. Can't vouch for the quality. A little further away there are some in the 50-60-70 dollar a night range. Downtown they are in at over $100.00 per night.

Well, I did a check on Travelocity for the dates of that weekend, and in the 50-75 dollar range per night you can get the likes of Howard Johnson, Days Inn, Motel 6, Super 8, Microtel, Rodeway, Ramada, Econolodge, America's Best, Quality Inn, Knights Inn, Travelodge, Best Western, Baymong, Sleep Inn, Red Roof. I have certainly done my share of staying in these sorts of places to save money.

Also....for $85.00 per night you can stay at the Fiddler's Inn which is right across the street from the Opryland Hotel. I stayed there a few years back for a Kiwanis Convention that was held in Nashville. It has since been remodeled. In fact, it was featured on the show Hotel Impossible a year or two after I stayed there. Here is a recap:

http://www.travelchannel.com/shows/hotel-impossible/video/recap-fiddler-s-inn

It should be a much nicer place to say after this took place.

The other time I stayed in Nashville I stayed here....supposedly the premiere hotel in town. It was very cool with the gardens:

http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/bnago-gaylord-opryland-resort-and-convention-center/

But, it can be overpriced imo. Rates over $250 a night. I got Convention rates in the mid 90s when I stayed there. Go stay at the Fiddler's Inn across the street and walk over to the Opryland. The new Grand Ole Opry sits right behind the Opryland Hotel...if you are into that.

Flugel, are there any good Western bars in the area that offer mechanical bull riding? You know, I was s champion rodeo'er back in the day. I bet I still got it and could last the longest out of this group! I like the Western places with chicken wire protecting the band, and a john travolta dance-a-thon.

Or a casino or horse track to make some cake at will work too. I could probably make s lot of cake riding the mechanical bull, but I doubt anyone here is up for the challenge

Thatta boy - God bless ya! Break out your black and silver t-shirt, cowboy hat and get your game face on.

There's 2 places right on Broadway with mechanical bulls - Tequila Cowboy and Broadway Brewhouse. They'll be playing your song from your very first duet with Hag2 way back in BC (Before Casinos). https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=I+wanna+be+a+cowboy+youtube&view=detail&mid=6E0F9347A088AD7DEE7F6E0F9347A088AD7DEE7F&FORM=VIRE

I still have some good back jerky in me and a dismount that would make Mary Lou's Retton jealous so I'll put some cake down on this.

Do you really think Zombo is going to back down?

Tom, I started looking and most of the Downtown hotels are in the $200+ a night range. The pig in a poke on Hot wire, you can get it down to $100- 150 a night.

I don't like Hotwire sites where you don't know what hotel you are going to get until you book a non-refundable.

I like to be in control, even if it costs me more money. I mean, good gosh, people are acting like they didn't know that downtown hotels cost more than others outside the city center. I go to Cleveland for games a lot. I am all for saving a buck on rooms, but not if I stay downtown. You can't. It's either a decent place or a shitty place where crack whores are looking for a date.

Nashville isn't a cheap town. It is the State Capitol. That brings in a lot of visitors on business. It is the hub of country music. There are multiple recording studios, publishing houses, talent agencies, etc. That brings in a lot of visitors on business on a daily basis. It's called Music City, USA for a reason, and thus, hotel rooms don't come cheap. You have a lot of people wanting them.

Appreciate the feedback Larry! I just called the 2 places I originally recommended per on-line info provided to inquire what it would be per night for 2 people.

The Comfort Inn was $199.00 for Saturday, Oct 15th and $179.00 for Sunday, Oct 16th. That's about $50 more per night than I expected.

The Best Western was $299.00 for each night when they were advertising $158.00 per night online. Very disappointed but glad I called. Forget them.

Better news:

Before moving to Nashville, my wife and I stayed at the Drury Inn & Suites near the Nashville airport. Every day, they provided an impressive free breakfast buffet as well as a late afternoon/early evening happy hour with complimentary beverages and snacks. They also had an indoor/outdoor pool, fitness center, free parking and free wi-fi. It was also very clean and we really enjoyed our stay there. We also liked that it was right next to route 40W making it only a 10 minute ride to downtown Nashville. Therefore, I called them tonight and spoke to Danielle in Reservations. After a little negotiating, she told me for 2 people to stay there it will be $170.00 on Saturday, October 15th and $137.99 on Sunday, October 16th. She also told me that if anyone wants to take a round trip shuttle to and from downtown Nashville - it will only be $10 round trip as long as you sign up to take the shuttle when you check in. I told her I was going to post this on our message board to Cleveland Browns fans looking for a reasonably priced hotel that weekend. If this interests anyone I recommend calling the hotel at the number below and asking for Danielle in reservations.

As I noted above, you can get rates at well know chains in the $60-80 range. I guess it depends on how much hanging around the hotel you want to do. Mainly, for me a place like that is just to sleep and to shit shower and shave.

For hanging around where I stay, that is what I use my timeshare for.

Again, I did a check and I see at least 80 different hotels in the Nashville area where you can get rooms for under $100.00 per night. A number of these are even in the "downtown" region.

No doubt you can get lower rates out of town. That's why I usually stay in Medina or Westlake and don't stay downtown anymore. When I only came up for a few games a year, I didn't mind dropping a few hundred on a room. It was a special event. Now that I make 6 games a year, I can't do that without blowing the budget I have set to attend games.

A few years ago I stayed at the Marriott Courtyard in Middleburgh Heights. I could get a room in there for $80 a night...it was great. They added a "Bistro" in the lobby, and now the rooms cost $150 a night...thus the move to Medina,

I think the Marriots all around had a steep hike in price.

But here is something that the group coming in may want to consider: renting a house for the time you are here:

https://www.airbnb.com/

Now, maybe a house could cost you 200-250 per night.....but if 5 or 6 of you went into paying for it, it could be very cheap.

I found one in Ohio City that accommodated 7 people for like $241 per night.....and actually, once the Republican National Convention is over these places may come even cheaper. For a group like Howie/Garth/Kma/MarkO/Pavo Joe, you all coming in, something like this could work.

Thanks Gipper - that list is helpful! As a resident of a suburb of Nashville for 10 years, I'll try to help people narrow down their search some:

Murfreesboro is 34.1 miles from Downtown Nashville with route 24W traffic always going the speed of park.

Antioch has very high rates of murder and crime so there will be vacancies and Whites Creek also has significant crime.

Lebanon is 31.4 miles from Downtown. A lot of Jeff Foxworthy's punch line models can be found here.

Gallatin is 30.5 miles to Downtown.

Franklin is 21.5 miles away from Downtown while Brentwood is 1 town closer. A lot of celebs live here.

Opryland is only about a 10 mile ride to Downtown. There are hotels over there like the Fiddler's Inn and others that have reasonable prices. You may want to call some of them because I think they also have shuttle buses that cost way less round trip than taxi rides.

Any hotels near the airport are only about 8 miles or so from Downtown. Many of these should have shuttle buses to Downtown with cost friendlier prices than a taxi.

Gipper is correct that you only sleep in your room. That said, if you're traveling with your wife she'll probably hold you to higher standards than you'd have if you came with a buddy or 2. Not that you needed me to tell you that. Also keep in mind that some hotels in the City of Nashville aren't even close to walking distance to the action at the Dawg House Saloon in music row or over at Tootsies and other fun places on the Broadway strip. Therefore when you're calling some of these gorgeous palaces - make sure you ask questions like how far of a walk is it to Tootsie's on Broadway or bars in music row or the stadium. Do you have shuttles? You can also pm me if you have any questions.

If I didn't stay downtown, I'd stay in Franklin. We stay there 3-4 times a year because we like the Franklin Theater to go see some good mucic acts.

Rats...I just check the seat finder. Your seats are in the City Club. My season tickets are in the Lake Club. Looks like we will be across the stadium from each other. I am in 330, which would be one setion to the left as you would view it from your seats. Maybe we can wave to each other, or develop a set of hand signals!;)

I have seen what drunken Zombo can do to a hotel room over the course of a few days. I shudder to think what would happen to a whole house...Thanks, but no thanks..

In 1999, they named a Hurricane that never even existed after Zombo in Tampa! An entire crew of Hotel Five-O went into early retirement after 1 outrageous weekend in the preseason at a Hotel that was previously more peaceful than Mayberry.

We learned a lot of interesting things that weekend as did the poor employees of the Hotel we stayed at:

1) The Cleveland fans staying there might have looked as harmless as the cast of Happy Days but once the tailgate started they looked a lot more like they were living out some real life scenes from the movie "The Hangover."

2) Here's some physics: Pool side furniture does not float and balcony furniture does not bounce.

3) There's a lot of Kitty in Ybor City - we just weren't sober enough to get our asses there.

4) Vette had a Vette - he just never told us it was a matchbox car.

5) There was a guy that looked like Booger and slept like Rip Van Winkle.

6) There's a Hispanic Pizza delivery guy with an unresolved crush on Atenears and a disappointing tip.

7) If your security staff is all over 70 years of age, it might be a good idea to have golf carts that go faster than 5 miles per hour equipped with taser guns.

8) Atenears clarified his legendary bump and run skills took place in the sand lot instead of on the high school gridiron and Zombo's reaction was priceless "YOU FUCKER!"

9) What happens when a bunch of Tampa fans pour beer on a Jim Brown jersey worn by Vette? Not only did someone say it looks like the beer is on you tonight; but he also got a complimentary escort out of the stadium without any compliments.

In other road trips I learned the following:

1) Atenears refers to his well stocked cooler as "the first aid kit" when he has specific company.

2) Zombo would have made the All Madden team for treating his unexpected head wound with a cold can of Coors and then wrapping a white Hyatt Towel around his head like a blood soaked turban so we didn't miss any time partying in the Flats. All that was missing was the camel and flip flops. I was pretty good at reading minds of those observing him that night. Is that Wun Sick Phuck or Ali Haji Zombo?

3) We had a Limo Van Driver that looked like the Heat Miser before, during and after his front passenger door flew off the hinges by a bus full of hotties passing us on the right.

4) Don't ever let Atenears tell you everybody just power squirts on the side of Panini's. They had a Barney Fife hiding out there just waiting to write some of us liquored up knuckleheads a ticket. I got the feeling he was giving Stan commissions/kickbacks to compensate for all those big bad college football point spreads gone wrong on Saturday. The Cleveland Cops were looking at Stan's guests like it was pass go time on a Monopoly Board collect $200. They got that sick bastard (Atenears) on speed dial: "Stan, you got any friends coming in this weekend?" "Yes officer and 2 of them are Irish. You can find us in the Flats on Saturday Night after 9pm and any time Sunday morning so cha-ching and God bless."

5) You can get a lap dance at "The Circus."

6) Stan's friend Fat Jeff started the night off looking like he was husband of the year buying his wife a t-shirt just a couple hours before he hired an escort service to join him in bedroom gymnastics. The good news is the t-shirt probably cost less than the service and the penicillin. That poor guy is so ugly they probably jacked the prices up on him too. Rumor has it - Jeff hasn't been allowed to leave the house since that weekend or come within 1 mile of Atenears since the drip; but he and his wife are back on speaking terms...

7) Tailgates are a blast.

Yes, I have heard either bits and pieces or full blown renderings of a lot of these adventures. I was also in Tampa actually stayed at the same hotel as you guys for that game but I didn't know any of you miscreants at the time. I think Stan and the pizza delivery guy still keep in touch though......

LOL! That was the first time the 3 of us met in person along with some other board members we had at aol back then. I'm not sure Nashville is going to be any more ready for these guys than Tampa was but it's sure going to be fun finding out. If you don't live too far from Nashville PJ - you're welcome to join us. Stan already wants to put cake down on his mechanical bull riding skills. He's gonna show up to Nashville dressed like Billy Ray Cyrus in shit kickers with beer muscles. Stay tuned...

I live just north of Atlanta so Nashville was on my radar until I realized I would be riding home from Biketoberfest that day. I will however be taking my talents to south beach with Stan and Zombo and most likely be at most home games as I just bought season tickets. ( It's complicated ) With only a three week recovery time in between Miami and Nashville I'm sure Stan will shine, but Zombo doesn't recover like he used to.
