Pick left by Gipper VIA PM

Minnesota Vikings select IAN SEAU - OLB NEVADA

OK, I was here....but that was my pick.

I wonder if he is related to Junior Seau? Given that the elder Seau killed himself over concussions that he suffered while playing...if he is related I am surprised that he would want to continue to play football.

OK I see here he is a nephew:

Also:

STRENGTHS: Sports a compact, powerful frame that belies terrific initial quickness as an edge rusher. Anticipates the snap well, complementing this awareness with an explosive get-off to cross the face of offensive tackles.

Flexible enough to turn the corner without losing momentum and showing a burst to close. Arrives with a thud, often leaving his feet to deliver jarring tackles and showing a knack for ripping the ball free, forcing seven fumbles in 37 games at Nevada.

Varies his rush technique, incorporating swim and rip moves back to the inside to counter his speed. Shows a nice jump-cut inside to take advantage of gaps created between the guard and tackle, demonstrating the body control to get skinny and slip through to disrupt plays.

Competitive against the run, showing toughness to anchor, as well a high-revving motor in pursuit.

WEAKNESSES: A bit of a one-trick pony as a pass-rushing specialist, lacking ideal bulk to remain as a full-time defensive end and lacking the change-of-direction skills necessary for coverage duties as a traditional linebacker. Lacks the length and strength preferred as defensive end, too often getting washed out in the running game. Some core stiffness when attempting to change direction, leaving him lunging at ball-carriers and occasionally missing targets seemingly within his strike zone. Predominately rushed out of the three-point stance at Nevada and may prove as explosive off the edge as a stand-up rusher.

IN OUR VIEW: Seau doesn't possess the same raw athleticism as his famous late uncle, but he is a proven playmaker off the edge entering a league always on the lookout for them. His best fit might be as a third down pass-rush specialist attacking offensive tackles with his trademark anticipation and burst.

OK, I see that now. He was a projected 7th round pick that went in round 2. That may be the reach of the draft.

He's the 99th prospect on CBS' board...maybe they updated his page earlier today? Either way, it's a late 3rd / early 4th prospect taken with a mid 2nd rounder

And green Bay took my Mr. Irrelevant who I thought would be a good pick to go with Prescott.

I would have taken the German WR but he was off the board.

I think Allen can be a solid west coast QB - smart, sufficient arm strength, mobile and experienced in a pro-style offense. Hundley will be worth a first rounder within the next couple of years, there needs to be a succession plan for the backup spot once he's traded.

Pats take Dadi Nicolas, OLB, Virginia Tech

He was a consensus end-of-day-2 prospect.. Team Belichick is happy on the inside regarding this pick.

They also need somebody who can get pressure on the QB.. It may be a combination of people rather than just Jones, and although Dadi may not be a 3-down player but he definitely can get after the QB.
