Another back door dishonest attack on our free speech

Brought to you by the jaw-flappin of yours truly, who brought you the bringing back of the "Fairness Doctrine"

Liberals will control everything they can. They want power, and control over every thing we do.

Face it, folks - the areas they want to control are really adding up...

MEDIA RESEARCH CENTER

MARCH 11, 2009

The Senate just passed the Durbin Amendment – the “Durbin Censorship Doctrine” -- which actually poses a far greater threat to our free speech rights than even the “Fairness” Doctrine because it creates a dangerous new power the FCC can use to silence talk radio.

In light of this new threat to free speech, the Media Research Center is rallying our team for an emergency petition delivery next week!

After the Senate passed the Broadcaster Freedom Act by a vote of 87-11, the liberal media rushed to declare the Fairness Doctrine dead.

What they didn’t report in the passing of the “Durbin Censorship Doctrine” was that it reinforces in law already existing FCC regulatory powers to silence conservative speech – and creates a treacherous new way for the government censors to do so!

Instead, the liberal media would have you believe that the Fairness Doctrine is dead—that the threat against conservative talk has been ended once and for all.

Nothing could be further from the truth!

MRC founder Brent Bozell just addressed members of our Free Speech Alliance and spoke exclusively about this dangerous new threat to our Free Speech Rights. To listen, go here.

++ A Stealth Attack on Your Free Speech Rights!

The ”Durbin Censorship Doctrine” requires the FCC to “take actions to encourage and promote diversity in communication media ownership.”

Upon closer look, this “stealth” attack on Free Speech Rights is far more insidious because it empowers the government to censor and control the airwaves in an insidious new way.

In other words, the ”Durbin Censorship Doctrine” poses a much greater danger to our free speech rights because it expands the FCC censorship threat in ways we never before imagined!

++ Your Efforts More Important Than Ever

Given what just took place on Capitol Hill, there is little doubt in my mind that we are headed for a showdown over our Free Speech Rights.

Thank you so much for signing the petition. But the threat is dire -- so over the next five days I am urging EVERY member of our MRC Action Team to take fast action by alerting friends and family to the real truth about our Free Speech Rights coming under assault.

Urge them to join with you in defending this God-given right by clicking here.

Now that the liberals in Washington have a yet another new way to muzzle conservative and Christian talk radio, we anticipate they will waste little time to make this a reality. That’s why it’s imperative that we move boldly to protect our Free Speech Rights by mobilizing as many grassroots Americans as we can in the days ahead.

We cannot allow this backdoor assault to go unchallenged!

That’s why I am counting on you to help me rally an additional 20,000 citizen signers of our Free Speech Alliance petition over these next few days leading to our delivery!

As always, thank you for standing with the MRC.

David Martin

Actually it was under neocon rule that the FCC doled out record fines.

Neocons seem to support free speech as long as it's not their own twisted version of "obscene"

Do you have any links or even made up figures you can throw out there to make your point (lol). Seriously though I did a quick google search and couldn't find anything by year.

couldn't have said that better myself.....

most of what i hear politicians say is extremely offensive, but i'll look at boobies all day long.

point is, offensive/obscene can be independently defined by each individual......so lets try again.

I'm not judging. Who are you to tell an entire American society what grotesque offenses

their children see on TV?

Society has a right to protect itself from -destructive- and clearly way across the line

offenses. Society decides the line.

I don't think nudity in movies is necessarily to be banned. Cute women should NOT be...@@

It's more behavior and intent with that kind of thing.

"poopie-head" is kinda on the line with small children, but what the heck...@@

You think extremely graphic and grotesque speech is the same as political disagreement?

Those ARE two separate issues. And far two different affects on children.

Who are you or your right wing cronies to decide what is obscene or what isn't?

Again, you are perfectly fine with censorship when it violates your own version of morality.

Well the FCC itself came from FDR, so it wasn't about right wing cronies when it was created. Most here probably consider me "right wing" but I don't see anything in the Constitution that gives the Federal Government the right to even form the FCC, but that's just my opinion. State governments on the other hand probably could have formed something along the FCC lines, but I think the 1st amendment would ultimately trump the 9th and 10th amendments if it were ever pushed.

You think you are, don't you? Look in the mirror, man. You foist your bullshitty Biblical Morality on us every day here. You think you know what's best for society but have no idea what society wants. Stop it already.

No flappy flappy. Just stoppy stoppy.

I just have my opinions, no judge here, no lawmaker here. My whole explanation about gay marriage was completely

without any religious basis whatsoever. None. No Biblical nothin. The only ideas I have what society wants,

is the way things are that society has already decided.

Heyl, even California passed a law banning gay marriage, ya? and THAT is freakin goofball CALIFORNIA !

But, I will try to stifle my jaw flappy, but "stoppy stoppy" ? That's dumb. ROF,L

You are allowed to have your opinion, cal.

But what you have generally isn't an opinion. It's a judgment. Who cares what "states" want? Shouldn't it be about the individual??? This is what you gun advocates puke up daily.....

Don't like what you see? Turn it off. Pretty easy solution without violating freedom of speech.

Turn it off everywhere you go? Movies ? TV ? Greyhound Bus ? Walking down the street?

In schools ? On the internet ? Driving on the highway? Billboards? Cruises ?

On an airplane? In a campground? In a store? At a football game?

Everywhere? Shut it off? No, shut the obscenity off is the right solution. Anything else

Is oppressing those who don't want to hear it. Having said that, in certain areas, like

an r or x rated movie, it's easy to protect kids. well, theoretically.

must protect the children.

cal: what offends you does not offend me. so, who then decides what is offensive? or, YOU could do that job....which you are supposed to do.....and be a parent. why not teach your child a skill rather than turn the babysitter on everyday?

way to go steve.....citing an extreme example to prove your non-existant point.....

You're welcome Choke Oh.

So my point to Pumpkin was that if he cares to bitch about someone elses "morals" being made law there was one that most will agree on.

And I said animated so there's no actual abuse going on right?

But......

So since you're taking the total freedom angle just think about it.

There must be some vulgarities that even you think should be kept from the public airways, no?

List a few banned subjects you want included on TV or radio?

Stop trying to keep your kids in a protective bubble and actually talk to them. If they see or hear something that you think is obscene or bad take the oppurtunity to tell them why it is and why you don't like it.

So what possible harm would it do to a twelve year old perfoming a sex act for an adult for money besides offending your personal morals?

And you feel comfortable with it on the cartoon shows since you'll just sit the kids down and explain it.

Tell me you and Choco favor an anything goes policy.

I'll shrug and say I don't believe ya.

pedophilia has absolutely nothing to do with freedom of speech, no matter how you try to spin it. That's the worst argument I've ever seen. Absolutely pathetic.

As far as a cartoon goes, I just wouldn't let them watch it. I'm not going to rely on the government to do my parenting. Parents need to know what their children are watching and if they don't approve then don't let them watch it. Relying on governemt censorship and the TV to raise your kids is as bad or worse than relying on food stamps and welfare.

yeah, what harm would it do. obviously, shielding kids from sex has prevented things like circulating pics of each other on cell phones, and has helped drive down teen pregnancy rates. i mean, its obvious abstinence (and a general approach of negligence) has helped steer children away from their natural curiosity to answer questions that are raised, and thus seek the answer themselves when the parent is too chickenshit to address the issues like they should.....

do you really not see what kids are doing, or are you a parent that doesn't realize it till you actually catch you child in bed with another?

i dont care, really, what you believe about me.....truth be told, you make assumptions about other people humanity that make you look like an ass. you think your moral high ground is higher than mine.....but then again, im always high so you must surely be more educated than me....be more moral because you read and believe a fairy tale.

whats all this mean, steve?

very simple....you have a hard time talking with kids, so you make the excuse that its obscene and seek to shield children from it rather than speak with them about it. this further helps continue the pussification of america.....you probly think dodgeball is too violent as well, eh?

Here's what it means.

Personally I've viewed some vile shit and had a laugh over it.

Takes a lot to offend me.

When I do a show in Key West I use really foul language.

Most places I keep it at a PG level.

But I think kids will watch TV and think whatever behavior there is normal.

So I have no real beef with explicit sex or F bombs or cock*sucker as being taboo.

Do you talk that way around kids?

Would you be offended if someone did around your kids?

The point about kids and sex is that besides your own morality it isn't good or evil.

Sex is not evil but we, as society have made up boundaries.

I have no gripe with those admittedly artificial rules.

I think society is vulgar enopugh without making it worse.

That's all.

I am not saying I am judging. That's just a diversionary cya.

Society has to set certain rules. You want child abuse on TV and in the movies etc for children to see?

And then try to explain why that is not permitted? Except, it IS condoned?

Gay everything seems to be the ulterior motive for anti-censorship wonks.

Nobody can prevent children from being badly affected by way overboard garbage all the time.

That's why there are laws and restrictions. Total freedom is the freedom to deny other's their freedom.

With freedom comes responsibilities. But some folks don't want to be responsible. They just want the freedom part.

Too bad. Reality and society rule. And that is going to be the case no matter where on earth you go to find a society

to live in.
