27K bill for watching a Chicago Bear's game

Did you guys see this story?

Wayne Burdick while in port in Miami prior to leaving on a cruise, used his laptop and wireless card to access slingbox which allowed him to watch the entire Bear game on his Laptop.

AT&T ending up charging him an international roaming rate. When he returned home he had a $27,000 bill waiting on him.

He managed to get it lowered to $6,000 after complaining to AT&T that he was not yet out of the country.

Evidently that was reduced again.

$27,000 to watch a football game.....That's a fan!

Yeah I remember reading a "$6,000 for every Rex Grossman interception" crack the writer made. Great stuff

I'd just like to conclude the story.

Once he went to ATT and a community outreach center with the records that he was in fact in port at the time and not roming ATT dropped the fees altogether.

It's sad he had to go through all that BS to begin with.

At least it had a good conclusion but still a 27k roaming rate bill to watch a game is rediculous even if your on the other side of the world...
