The Gipper
Maybe he is waiting to see if we sign Bowe before going for WR Parker ? While that may have an affect on what the Browns actually do....I don't think it should affect what a Mock drafter should do. Even if Bowe signs, the Browns may need a top notch WR. Bowe's signing would just replace the likes of Miles Austin.
miktoxic
malcolm brown (in the real world a trade back might be appropriate).
thenew23
Does Randy Stark signing affect your choice? Plays DT, same as Malcom Brown We got Tramon Williams, so that probably take DB out of the picture. No, because Stark is a 3-4 DE, not a NT
thenew23
I see the Browns' biggest needs as: 1 - QB 2 - NT 3 - WR (whether we sign Bowe or not) 4 - Pass rusher Since the top 2 QBs, the top 4 pass-rushers, the top 2 WRs, and the top NT are gone... I guess I have to go with...

The Gipper
No, because Stark is a 3-4 DE, not a NT He is listed as a DT everywhere I have searched. Starks signing definitely means they probably will not bring back Rubin. Saints/Zombo are on the clock.

Like I said, unless they are over 320lbs they will convert to DEs in a 3-4 scheme... http://www.nfl.com/player/desmondbryant/2507568/profile

Honestly, I don't believe that a 3-4 DE should even be described as a Defensive End. A Defensive End should only be a guy on the end in a 4-3 formation. You should have say a "Defensive Guard"....as they are really a hybrid sort of position.

The Gipper
Anyway... With the 12th pick, the Cleveland Browns select Malcom Brown, DT, Texas Are you sure he won't be a DE in the 3-4? What is the scouting report on his pass rushing skills? (While important....shoring up the middle against the run is very important to this team....which could make this a good pick). (While important....shoring up the middle against the run is very important to this team....which could make this a good pick). He can take on double-teams and jam up the middle to assist in the run game, but he is best as a pass-rushing 3-tech. If we draft this guy, he would immediately be our starting NT, but would also rotate around our 3-man front in various formations so we can utilize his pass-rush abilities. Having him, Starks, A.Bryant and/or D.Bryant on passing downs would force QBs to make quick decisions next year, as they all are above-average pass-rushers... TexasAg1969
Well that makes sense-needed the run stopper first. The interesting picks now will be 19 and the second rounder. Some decent ILB's will be there in round 2. Browns should be the Browns and go with the problem child WR @ 19 who is just as gifted as any at the top. DG-B! Tour2ma
....one of those "wish I could trade back" moments.....I keep finding them in this years mocks Yup... problem is they used to pop up more at #19 than #12. Having to pick at 12, I agree with taking Brown, but there are only two players taken above him that I would have passed over in favor of Malcom. I disagree-6'2" 320lbs low center of gravity and perfect as a NT with run stuffing ability. Not quite "perfect", but certainly very well-suited... very much a run stuffer. The Gipper
I see the 49ers are on the clock. In the real draft I fully expect to see the 49ers take a player.....only to have that player immediately announce his retirement.
