no. dude you know how much shit (drugs, diamonds etc.) are shipped via fedex?

of course there is always a fool in the bunch.

Does anyone else remember when Chris Perez (former Indians' closer) got busted for having a pound of weed shipped to his house and addressed to him?

Fortunately, the MLB doesn't give two shits about weed use.

fedex is privately owned and they don't have dogs at their hub.

you would be a fool to stick a bag, a joint, some wax in a envelope and send it presuming it would get there ok using any type of transpo.

certain precautions must be taken.

they'll ignore it just like the fact that they owe NYC millions of dollars in unpaid traffic tickets.

or they could always get jimmy H's lawyers.

Browns have no plans to cut Josh Gordon

Jul 21 2014, 9:47 PMGordon Brunt

Despite the offseason troubles surrounding Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon, his spot with the team isn't in jeopardy according to head coach Mike Pettine.

Speaking with the Akron Beacon Journal, Pettine confirmed Gordon's position with the team and the Browns' desire to assist the 23-year-old.

"Josh is a Cleveland Brown. We want to do what’s best for him. We have a player that potentially needs help," Pettine said. "Whether it’s him or whether it’s anybody else that wears the uniform, if we can help, we’ll help.

"We want to make our decisions always, what’s best for the player, and you try to marry it with what’s best for the team. So that’s why I don’t think that cutting him, while it may have worked for some other people, I don’t know if that’s the necessarily the best option here. It might be the worst option for both -- for us and for him. We’re going to wait and see what happens and then act accordingly.”

The first incident to plague Gordon during the offseason was a failed drug test when he reportedly tested positive for marijuana, his second such offense, and awaits a hearing to determine his suspension. The second occurred weeks later when he received a speeding ticket while his passenger was charged with marijuana possession. And the latest ensued earlier this month when he was arrested for a DWI offense.

Pettine was reluctant to talk about the assistance the team will provide for the troubled wideout, and expects a resolution to Gordon's appeal hearing, pertaining to his possible suspension, to materialize over the next two weeks.

Pettine continued and explained his thought process when asked about the possibility of a season-long suspension

“I’ve heard everything, all the possibilities, so it’s just gotten to the point where it is what it is. We’ve planned for everything, and we’re ready to go. I don’t want that to be a huge dark cloud hanging over everything and we’ve hung our hopes on it. Typical coach mentality: Expect the worst, hope for the best.”

Attaboy Pettine! That's what I'm talking about. For ANY other team, if they had a game changer, a game breaker, or an elite player they would not cut them. People just want to keep the Browns down and cutting Josh Gordon would be akin to doing just that. Whether he's suspended or cut he won't be on the field. So why not wait until he's able and put the monster back on the gridiron in Orange and Brown? Hell, Mike Vick slaughtered dogs and he's out there on Sundays. Josh smokes a joint and drinks a beer ! CUT HIS ASS !

Thanks Mike, you removed a huge burden I've been carrying for a while since this all went down. Kudos Coach. Your first test has been passed, stand with your team.

No, Pettine is just using common sense. Let's assume worst case scenario- Jordon get the indefinite- (meaning one year) ban. Sure, I can see getting him the rehab and counseling he desperately needs. I would hope in the meantime Gordon reaches out to guys like Chris Carter and Michael Irvin who managed to turn things around.

BUT PG- Gordon is assuredly down to his last strike with the Browns (and possibly the entire NFL) if he fucks up while he's suspended. If he likes ganga better than the big bucks he can earn in the NFL- he can go to the Caribbean and smoke it to his heart's content with the other drug poster boy Ricky Williams. In the meantime, he's pissed away a few ten $$$million. Your choice Josh.

well they said the decision is going to take place within this upcoming 2 week period, and after the decision he expects gordon to show up in berea. my guess then is he is put in a van and taken to the airport under supervised care/guard and flown to high swag rehab.

if his suspension is less than the whole year then he's pulled a rabbit out of his ass.

i mean look at what happened to aldon smith. gun possession in airport, dui, some other charge and he gets 18 days in jail and a slap on the wrist. me or you we'd been looking at years.

man i guess OJ got it right....the first time. celebs can get away with murder.

True... but he's using common sense in the face of pressure from a chunk of the fan base that feel betrayed by Josh and want him gone.

Not to mention a chunk of his player base according to some reports. Something Pettine will likely have to address in the opening team meeting.

Ray Rice suspension expected to be two games

Posted by Darin Gantt on July 24, 2014, 9:21 AM EDT

The Ravens are bracing themselves for Ray Rice to be suspended, though they’re awaiting word on how long.

As it turns out, it might be shorter than anyone expected.

According to Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports, Rice is expected to get a two-game suspension, though no official announcement has been made.

If that’s the case, Rice will get half the punishment for being caught on tape knocking out his now-wife (who apologized for getting knocked out) that other players get for testing positive for Adderall.

If that’s the case, Rice will miss games against the Bengals and Steelers.

But perhaps more poignantly, he’ll be back on the field by October, when the NFL wraps itself in pink to remind us how valuable their female customers are to them.

how can gordon appeal anything if a judgement wasn't handed down to him?

i mean usually in the court system you appeal a decision, right gipper?

True, but what I am thinking is that there already has been a private ruling made, of which only Gordon and his reps are aware of.

Since this is a private organization procedure that can happen where it wouldn't in a public matter.

Suspensions for violations are standard according to the NFL's policy. If this is #2, #3, etc... there is a standard length of suspension that accompanies that violation. If he received a letter stating he violated, he and his team already know the potential suspension they are looking at. I wasn't sure if Gordon was at Stage 3 of the policy, but the longer this has played out the more I believe this is a one-year ban. Given the DWI recently, he has NO chance to win his appeal, and will be lucky with only a one-year ban... IMHO. It seems the league COULD propose a one-year ban, and then further violate him for the DWI... Just like Blackmon, I don't see Gordon cleaning up his act if he is out of the league for an entire year... just sad...

Have you ever wondered what the locker room tension would be for a guy like Gordon when he walks in? Is he looked at as a pariah or is it all par for the course in the NFL?

For Josh, I'd guess the locker room is still a mix of both attitudes...

For Blackmon, not so much...

I think it'd be more positive than you think, When you break it down all his issues are drug related which I'm confident the majority of NFL players partake in some way or another. I think it'd be a lot different than say when Dante Stallworth came back.

If you knock a woman the fuck out in an elevator and then drag her unconscious body across the ground.

Young promising kid smoking a little weed, showing signs of a substance problem .... Indefinite fucking suspension.

Violence against women .... Sure, we frown upon that, but you still get 14 game checks and paid for preseason and postseason.

Need a little help with substance abuse ... Sit your ass the fuck down for a year and, if you stop smoking pot we may let you back in.

If you are a Raven:

Convicted of obstructing justice in a double homocide: 0 games

Knocking a woman the fuck out in an elevator ... with your fist ... on video ... And then dragging her motionless body across the floor: 2 games

If you are a Brown:

Cough syrup: 2 games

Weed: indefinite suspension

There you go. Don't get me wrong, pissing on a grave is pretty fucked up but at least there was no chance of bodily harm.

The NFL is a clownshow no more no less. I would love to hear someone from the FO explain why Terrell Pryor selling his own fucking property in college before he was in the NFL...warranted 5 games. Yet uppercutting your wife to the jaw in a vegas casino gets you 2 games? I mean look..to be perfectly honest Ray Rice shouldn't get any kind of suspension from the NFL..it ain't their business. Just like Josh Gordon taking a non performance enhancing substance or Terrell Pryor bartering for tattoos shouldn't get a minute suspension either. Ray Rice should be in jail, that's a fact. But that's not the NFL's business. I have zero clue how Ray Rice is not in jail. I get it that often battered women don't press charges and there's nothing law enforcement can do without the wife's consent. But often if they have their own proof they will go ahead and press charges regardless of what the wife does. This would seem to fall into that category with the whole video tape and all. Was the elevator tape ever released? I know the police have it and said it clearly shows him jaw jacking her. So wtf? If anyone of us punched a woman like that and it was on tape...the fuck you think would happen?
