Chicopee John Posted February 3, 2009 Report Share Posted February 3, 2009 It has been several years but Jimmy Calhoun has the Huskies playing like an engine hitting on all cylinders. Perhaps a couple of weeks early - you never want to peak too soon, including basketball - but this team has played ugly for the past couple of years and can use some smooth play for another month (prior to the Big Beast Championship and the Tournament). Although I neither care about nor watch any woman's basketball, I believe UCONN has a chance to repeat what no other school has ever done: win the Men's and Woman's NCAA Basketball Championships in the same year. With Adrien Price, and Austrie being Seniors and Thabeet likely to leave after this year, UCONN is geared for a big run. Next year, who knows. Another African via Australia (7"+) named Majok coming in, a couple of kids from Wichendon School in MA, and Kemba Walker entering his Sophomore year, UCONN will likely go through a year or two of 'rebuilding' to championship-caliber status.
