Suomi
And before y'all start shrieking "What are you thinking?!? We'd love to have him as the Browns' QB!" just riddle me this: are Brees' struggles today purely a function of the Seahawks' defensive scheme, or is the wet weather the cause? It's tough to grip a wet football and throw it accurately with small hands; Brees has been tossing wounded ducks all day, and missing his receivers as a result. For all you Manziel lovers out there who couldn't figure it out, this post is for you.
LBC mike
MANZIEL is far more superior than Brees!! His nickname is Johnny Football. Broke all kinds of records and won a trophy or something. His hands grow in cold weather, His bones are made of rigid steel like Wolverine, the strength of the incredible Hulk, speed of a bullet train and the accuracy of a special ops sniper. miktoxic
brees has looked decent on a couple of drives in the second half but the power of marshawn lynch and the seattle D is overwhelming. wilson is short like brees but they also have one thing manziel doesn't: the smarts. Alot of the other post in here and in other threads make it seem as though the days of a NFL QB under 6-2 is over. If so then i guess its a good thing the short QBs have fun in college. LBC mike
So are saying that Manziel is better than Brees? Brees is an elite QB now but was an above average when the Chargers got rid of him for Rivers. Manziel is a fucking crap shoot. Like Trent?! Colt McCoy had good numbers in college. dropped to the 3rd round. Quin coming out of ND was stroked and massaged before the draft. Manziel is no where where Luck was coming out. Luck is once every 8 years or so. Manziel does not give me those warm and fuzzy feelings of confidence. I am not saying Manziel won't be good but not worth the risk in the rebuilding portion of our clusterfuck team. How many great QB's below 6 foot were drafted in the 1st round top 10? bbedward
All you need to ask is how many super bowls does drew brees have. Then how many does the browns franchise have? That's why the OP is an idiot. Drew Brees is a top 5 QB in the NFL. Maybe behind Peyton, Tom B, and Aaron Rodgers. But I don't think he's behind but pretty much on the same level. jeffinwv
Lemme get this straight...Drew Brees lost so Johnney Manziel will not be a good NFL QB.... Maybe Manziel is too tall or something because Wilson won....

It's tough to grip a wet football and throw it accurately with small hands; Brees has been tossing wounded ducks all day, and missing his receivers as a result. For all you Manziel lovers out there who couldn't figure it out, this post is for you. The first mistake you made was assuming that, just because they're shorter, Brees and Manziel have small hands. Brees' hand size was measured at 10 1/4 inches at the combine. Manziels's is expected to fall between 10 1/4 and 10 1/2 inches. Both are larger than the average hand size of NFL QB's, which is unofficially at 9 3/4 inches. Cam Newton, standing at 6'6, only recorded 9 7/8 inch hand. Brett Favre, standing at 6'3, had a hand span of 10 3/8 inches. Russell Wilson, standing at 5'10, has a recorded hand span of 10 1/4 inches. Troy Aikman is known for having some of the largest hands in the league for a QB. While his span was never officially measured at the Combine, people believe the span to be around 11 inches. The second thing you failed to acknowledge is that Russell Wilson, with the same diminutive stature and exact same hand size, started off the game tremendously efficient, completing 8 of his first 10 passes. In the same weather as Brees. It would stand to reason that the defense was giving Brees more trouble than the conditions, especially if you watched the game. The Seahawks defense was playing outstandingly in the first half, breaking up at least three first down passes before the end of the half. It's normally best to research before you post. Zombo
Thanks for the hand job. You're an idiot for comparing Manziel to Brees as a reason not to draft him, and an even bigger idiot to not notice that the quarterback that was winning the game was even smaller. And to assume the small hands. You may have set a record for Fail in one post. Zombo

And to assume the small hands. You may have set a record for Fail in one post. Zombo Well yeah, having huge hands definitely helps. However, as we saw with the Hoyer\Weeden comparison there's things that are a lot more important, like being able to get rid of the ball quickly, and accurately decipher a defense. Running around like Fran Tarkenton until one of your receivers breaks open is not a recipe for long term success in the NFL.
