It's not the number of yards that matters most, it's about the meaning of the yards you've gained.

If you run for 100 yards on a prevent Defense of a team up by 17 points or run for 70 on a defense featuring 9 man fronts and you pick up 4-5 first downs that keep drives alive... these are the in between and grey areas that nobody wants to talk about..

Trent's yards in Cleveland "meant" 5-11.

Our RB's yards without Trent "mean" 2-0.

who in the league today had one rusher who gained more than 100 yards?

four. (actually 3 cuz gore did his on thurday) less than 17% of the league.

the days of eric dickerson and barry sanders are over unless you've got one of the best OLines in the league.

Everything is connected.

The best teams are those that are well rounded. A pass heavy team will lose to a good pass defense. A run heavy team will lose to a team with good run defense.

The best thing you can do is be the best at everything.

a solid analogy to this is today's ufc fighters. the days of being great at only one discipline are long over. originally that built the sport but nowadays everybody has all three phases down [standup, clinch, ground] and whichever of the tools in your toolbox gives you the advantage over your opponent...you take the fight there.

ex- if your wrestling is a lot sharper than their wrestling and their boxing is sharper than yours...you wrestle.

same in football. it's all about balance. in order to execute whatever the gameplan calls for you need to have the ability to do it all.

Dude give it up! Donald Brown had 17 less carries than Richardson and STILL ran for more yards. Donald Brown! You can make all kinds of excuses but Richardson was up against the freaking Jaguars today and still has yet to make any big plays.. I love the trade right now.

Tr3nt may not put up many yards, but you CAN NOT keep that dude out of the endzone from 5 yards out.

what he lacks in ypc he more than makes up for in goal line dominance.

conclusion--both teams win in the end.

The Colts gave up a first for a short yardage back?

"I keep looking at the coaches tape and tweeting signs stills that show ample reason to doubt Trent Richardson’s true skill level. Yet people ask for more. How much do you have to see? If Richardson was a random fourth-round pick, his work between the lines would get him benched and maybe released."

seems so. :)

similarly, AD was averaging 3 ypc in London today...until he broke off that 60 yarder.

that one big play pushed his ypc to over 10 ypa on the day.

Tr3nt just needs to break off one or two semi big ones to balance out his day...but never will if he doesn't run where the play was designed for him to go. understanding where the hole is gonna open up seems to be about 90 percent of his issue...which thankfully for Indy, is correctable.

time will tell, but right now i love the trade too.

Trent was getting us nearly 3.5 yards per rush.. what are we getting now? So many people want to bash him when he did a good job running the ball. He didn't fumble and he ran tough. He missed a few holes but then again he had to make a few of his own as well. It's whatever though now, there is no doubt that he would be helping this team greatly if we would have been playing Hoyer from the start and Gordon wasn't suspended. Some people can't see the forest for the trees. With Cameron emerging and Gordon and Co. getting it done along with Hoyer hitting guys with catchable balls in stride, T-Rich would have done well. I still think that we will be missing him once the snow starts flying..

We're getting wins without him.

He was here for 17 games, we got 5 wins from him. He's been gone two games, we have two wins.

We're winning 100% of games without him on our roster so far.

Let it go already.

Also, is the sepia-tone an effect, or is his camera that shitty from being tossed around the room?

It's probably an old super 8 he picked up at a garage sale...

He had 20 carries for 60 yards yesterday, a normal day at the office for his career. So far in 2013, while healthy, he has 64 carries for 200 yards and a long run of 12 yards. His career YPC is 3.5.

I really think Jim Brown overrated him, calling him "ordinary."

But PG is waiting for the big turnaround. :)
