#199

We all know the story of #199....that being the story of Tom Brady, the #199 pick of the 2000 NFL draft.

But, have there ever been any other good #199s in football history?

Here is a link, if it works:

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/play-index/draft-finder.cgi?request=1&year_min=1936&year_max=2013&type=&round_min=1&round_max=30&slot_min=199&slot_max=199&league_id=&team_id=&pos=ALL&college_id=all&conference=any&show=all

The best #199s besides Brady were:

Steve Foley DB Broncos taken in 1975, played 10

Ephraim Salaam OT taken in 1998, played 9 years

Dennis Gaubatz DE taken by Boston 1963

Ron Yankowski DE taken in 1971

Others:

The "other" Adrian Peterson, RB for the Bears

Eddie Brown, DB taken by the Browns in 1974

Mark Kafentis, DB taken by the Browns in 1982

And while I am at it, look at this list who were all picked at #200:

Orpheus Roye, our man 1996

Jim Pyne, first pick of Browns expansion draft 1994

Craig Hentrich, 15 years as an NFL punter

Dan Alexander, 13 years as on OG

and this guy:

Bart Starr.....5 time NFL Champion Quarterback.

With Starr, perhaps ESPN should do a similar program to highlight the guys that went before him , like they did with Brady (Spergon Wynn, Giovanni Carmazzi, Bulger, Pennington etc). Those guys would be:

#2 Earl Morrall 2 time Pro Bowler, started SBIII

#31 John Roach, 19 starts (went on to be HC at Stanford)

#36 Fred Wyant, played in 10 games

#144 Em Lindback, DNP

#175 John Polzer DNP

#179 Tom Spiers DNP

#184 George Herring, played in two games

#186 George Welsh, DNP

#200 Bart Starr, 5 time NFL Champion.

You are right. The majority of his prime was with the Browns.

From what I remember, he started with the steelers for a few years, came to us as a free agent, then finished his career as a back up with the steelers.

Yes, in checking he played his first 4 years with the Steelers, then 8 years with the Browns, and his final year back with the Steelers.

Thirteen years is a fairly good long career for a DL.
