Steve Johnson Said...

Recommended Posts

This morning on NFL network, Steve Johnson said he has been on the line talking to up coming UFA's. He said he talked with Jennings who said "I wanna play where it is warm". Don't know if we ever had a chance, but if this is true, really makes enticing him a tad bit harder. But who knows, money talks.

Also seen Lombardi was named GM, how does this position impact the amount of input he has on draft day? compared to being director of player personnel?

This isn't true.

Ask Gipper, the weather has absolutely nothing to do with signing a FA.

Unless they are a big fucking pussy...which apparently this guy is if he made that statement.

I mean, let's face it. If this guy wants "warm" weather, then buy a house in Costa Rica and live there in the offseason. The fact is the football season is only really cold maybe for a month or 6 weeks.

it doesn't matter to him what city, only preferences would be things like location and money

No, those things aren't factors. We heard it from the trivia master himself, so it is law.

Of course he will say that, not gonna burn any bridges if he don't get his asking price in a warmer climate ;)

Right, why should a team offer him a premium price? Let's say as a general rule that a player of his caliber would ordinarily be worth $5 million. If he announces that he will not consider at least 50% of the teams in the NFL because they are in a colder climate, then why would any team that may be interested in him not want to totally lowball him. "You insist on playing in a warm climate....then take a 50% discount to do so". Perhaps he should not expect to receive an offer of over say 3 million.

If Miami or Tampa are only going to offer him 3 million but Green Bay or Chicago or one of the NYC teams or Cleveland would offer him 5 million, which offer do you think he will accept?
