Here is some trivia....some on recent subjects that appeared on this board. Lets see how well you have paid attention:

 

1. What is the last city to have two teams win titles in the same calendar year? (note: calendar year means the year of the NBA and NHL playoff, but the regular season for the NFL).

 

 

2. What is the last city to have two teams win consecutive titles, whether or not in the same calendar year?

 

 

3. Name the only 2 cities to have teams win 3 or more consecutive titles. Give the cities and the approximate years.

 

 

4. Name any one of the 2 "Mr. Irrelevents" who were active on an NFL roster in 2012.

 

 

5. Which school has produced the most #1 overall NFL draft picks with 5?

 

 

6. In addition to the school above, which 4 other schools have produced 4 #1 overall NFL draft picks?

15. The #1 overall pick has gone primarily to QBs and RBs. Besides these 2 positions, which position has had the next most players selected. (the previous question should be of help in eliminating some positions).

1. What is the last city to have two teams win titles in the same calendar year? (note: calendar year means the year of the NBA and NHL playoff, but the regular season for the NFL).

 

Boston/New England. The Red Sox won the 2004 World Series and the Patriots won the 2004 NFL title.

 

 

2. What is the last city to have two teams win consecutive titles, whether or not in the same calendar year?

Pittsburgh Steelers won the 2008 NFL title and the Pittsburgh Penguins won the 2009 NHL title.

 

 

3. Name the only 2 cities to have teams win 3 or more consecutive titles. Give the cities and the approximate years.

New York teams won 4 consectutive titles in 1927 and 1928: Yankees/Giants/Rangers/then Yankees again.

Also, Detroit in 1935/36 won 3 in a row.

 

4. Name any one of the 2 "Mr. Irrelevents" who were active on an NFL roster in 2012.

The Cleveland Browns via the Buffalo Bills for the rights to Bernie Kosar

The Dallas Cowboys for the rights to Steve Walsh

These are the "Mr. Irrelevents" chosen by the Cleveland Browns over the years. Though, they were all in the 50s, before that list pick became known as Mr. Irrelevent. The last time the Browns had that choice was 1956

Center Ki Aldrich by the Cardinals in 1939

 

B. Only 1 Defensive Back has ever been taken with the #1 overall pick. Name him and the team that took him.

Gary Glick by the Steelers 1956

Here is the rundown of the #1 overall pick by unit/position:

QBs: 30

RBs: 22

DEs: 9

WRs: 5

LBs: 4

OTs: 3

DTs: 3

DBs: 1

C/G: 1

(note: you could say technically that there were two centers taken #1 overall as Chuck Bednarik played both C and MLB. I have counted him primarily as a LB which he is most known for. It seems pretty safe to say that this year's #1 overall will NOT be a QB or RB, so what will it be?)
