The Gipper
On the subject of Quarterbacks. Here is the list of QBs who appeared in 5 or more Title games...be they NFL/AFL/AAFC/Super Bowls: Otto Graham 11... 7-4 (even if you only take NFL title games, he appeared in 7...more than any other QB ever) Bart Starr 6... 5-1 Sid Luckman 5... 4-1 John Unitas 5... 3-2 (I am counting the 1968 SB, which he did not start, but came in and finished) Tom Brady 5... 3-2 Sammy Baugh 5... 2-3 John Elway 5... 2-3 That's all for 5 title game appearances. The following have 4 title game appearances: Terry Bradshaw 4... 4-0 Joe Montana 4... 4-0 Bobby Layne 4... 3-1 Ed Danowski 4... 2-2 (probably the least well know winning QB ever, from 30s/40s Giants) Bob Waterfield 4... 2-2 Arnie Herber 4... 2-2 Roger Staubach 4... 2-2 Jack Kemp 4... 2-2 (only guy to do if for two teams: Chargers and Bills Jim Kelly 4... 0-4 Only Kemp, Danowski and Brady are not in the HOF. Brady obviously will be.
The Gipper
A question to be asked: Can anyone who is not on the above list be considered for All time Greatest QB? Guys like Marino, Favre, P. Manning, Namath etc.?
