Mr. T
Some of the top DT's (not necessarily in the top order) http://football.about.com/cs/positionalran...draftdtrank.htm 1. Terrance Cody, Alabama 2. Sen'Derrick Marks*, Auburn 3. Peria Jerry, Ole Miss 4. Geno Atkins*, Georgia 5. B.J. Raji, Boston College 6. DeMarcus Granger, Oklahoma 7. Evander Hood, Missouri 8. Fili Moala, USC 9. Terrance Taylor, Michigan
Guest Aloysius
Cody, Atkins, and Granger are staying in school. Jerry & Marks are good prospects (especially Jerry), but neither's a good fit for the 3-4. Working on the fly, here's what an updated list would look like: 3-4 DE Tyson Jackson, LSU Fili Moala, USC Alex Magee, Purdue Dorrell Scott, Clemson Jarron Gilbert, San Jose State 3-4 NT B.J. Raji, Boston College Ron Brace, Boston College (would have been a DE in Romeo's fat guy 3-4) Terrance Taylor, Michigan (questionable scheme fit)
Guest mz. Guest Aloysius
B.J. Raji may be a top 15 guy, but he's more of an NT (Mayock compares him to NE's Vince Wilfork). If we didn't have Shaun Rogers, he'd probably be one of my top 5 guys.

As a pure DE? Maybe Michael Johnson. But I think you are basically right. Johnson is a first round pick but probably a mid first rounder.

BTW, I count S.Smith gone, but we really missed Robaire Smith this year. The only way I look at Dline early is if they get rid of Cory Williams for draft picks. I think the light bulb has gone on and theyrealize that they need LBs, bucsue LBs make or Break the 3-4. I think drafting a defensive lineman on the second day to develop would be a solid idea. MY belief is that rounds 4 - 7 should be taking the best player available. Those are really crap shoot picks. Good rounds to find developmental guys for O-Line, D-Line and DBs. Oldcrow1945
One of my favorite mock drafts has the Browns taking Donald Brown with the #37 pick. I really don't know much about this kid. Good size and speed and but I never watched him closely.

Oldcrow1945
Cody did not declare for the draft Which is shocking to me. I wonder if his family is finacially well off?
