Guest Masters
Note that was 2008 cap room and the article is from March 2008. That is not the number for the coming 2009 season.

Guest Masters
I hope so these numbers were making me sick! That's what they were and the date is at the top of the article. The cap increases to 123M for 2009 (up from 116M). CLE has guys like Davis, McGinest, and several others coming off the number shown in that article. We should start seeing figures for where CLE really is come March.
PB&J
Phil wasn't in charge of the cap, Trip McCracken is.

Mr. T
I read several times that the Browns will have a moderate 15 mill to spend. I hope that DA's contract wont kill us.
Squintz
I read several times that the Browns will have a moderate 15 mill to spend. I read the same thing, shep. You can't go by those rankings and b.s. Plus, what are the implications of the upcoming labor negotiation and how will it affect the cap?
YtownBrownsBacker
I read several times that the Browns will have a moderate 15 mill to spend. That why DA's cap hit could put the team in a bind. They will need $8 to $10 million for just the draft because of their #5 position. Unless they move a big salary they aren't going to have any FA money. Jones is a FA and wants a big contract. Winslow wants a new contract and I don't know the status of Stallworth's contract. Don't know how much his guarantee is. Davis, McGinest and S. Smith aren't going to be much. Davis was playing for about the minimum. I got a feeling some big names we don't expect might be in trouble because of their contracts.
Mr. T
I would sign Winslow to a new contract and kick Stallworth to the curb.
Dave
I don't know, we're pretty thin at receiver and Stallworth missed most of the season with that injury. When he came back, he had noodle-arm Dorsey throwing to him, I just have a feeling we haven't seen the real Stallworth yet. His contract has 6 more years on it and he's pretty cheap, might as well have him for a season or two more to see how he adjusts to the new coordinator. Dorsey's noodle arm aside, I agree that we probably (hopefully) haven't seen the real Stallworth yet. Watching him slice up our defense a couple years ago while w/ NE made me covet his YAC skills. OconRecon
I don't know if it's JJ or not, but we sorely need a possession receiver. I'd still be OK with BE, K2, and JJ (if he's healthy). Quinn had no problem at ND trusting his receivers to jump and go after the ball and BE seems to be at his best when doing just that (as opposed to bread-basket catches). Quinn throws a more receiver friendly ball than DA did. More arc.

I never understood why Chud didn't use the guy billed as a YAC-receiver for more quick slants and bubble screens. I know DA throws a nice deep out ball but Jesus. I think Stallworth has a big hunk of money still guaranteed. We signed him to a big contract and I don't know if anybody would be willing to take it off our hands. How about Jamal Lewis lack of production sometimes he looked like he was trying to find a soft piece of turf to land on. Another guy with big Bucks looming over our cap.
