We need Tom Tupa
From PFT: As the coaching search in Oakland continues to sputter along, Jay Glazer of FOX reported on Sunday that Falcons receivers coach Terry Robiskie could be nudging closer to consideration. And though Robiskie is not yet on the official interview list, he reportedly has lined up a staff of assistant coaches who are all willing to join him in Oakland, if he gets the job Seriously??? In Indy, speculation mounts that Dungy will be announcing his retirement soon. Where do they turn for a new HC? It is a much different situation than other teams face in that they have the roster to win right now. I doubt Manning has the patience to wait for a 32 year old first time HC get up to speed. Do they promote a coordinator for a year? Do they bring in Shanahan?
Guest Aloysius
Colts QB coach Jim Caldwell is said to be the head coach in waiting; they even gave him the title of "Associate Head Coach" last offseason. If Dungy retires, Caldwell should be the guy taking over.
Zombo
Robiskie seems like the perfect guy to land in Oakland, because Davis trusts him and he will do whatever Davis says. Nobody with a real resume wants the job. I don't know why they don't give Cable a shot, he had them playing well at the end of the year. Tobalaz
I wonder what would happen if everyone just flat out refused to coach or play for the guy. Would the Raiders lose by forfeit every game or would the NFL strip ownership of the franchise from him?
Guest AdaM
Saap basically said Cable is an idiot who knows almost nothing about football beyond his confined area of expertise. Nice guy, though. The Raiders are so screwed. Terry Robiskie? God, that's sad. And people around here complained about Eric Mangini, the most qualified coaching candidate out there... at 38. We're gonna look back on this and realize what a huge get he was. Yeah, Caldwell is already the anointed HC in Indy. Two words... Guest Aloysius
Sources: Colts coach Dungy is stepping down by Jay Glazer Tony Dungy is stepping down as head coach of the Colts — at least that's what he's telling those inside the team headquarters, sources told FOXSports.com. While the team has scheduled a 5 p.m. press conference, Dungy is walking around the team's complex saying goodbye to players and team employees and informing them that the transition should be a smooth one for new coach Jim Caldwell. According to one source, Dungy explained that he has talked it over with his family and they believed this was the proper time to step down, while the Colts' nucleus was still intact. Dungy is perhaps the most respected head coach among peers and players of this era. He won a Super Bowl two seasons ago and at that time many thought he would step down. Again last year it was predicted by some he would step down, but he decided instead to pick his predecessor and stay on for one more year. Dungy's Indianapolis tenure will finish after seven seasons with a record of 92-33, and a postseason berth in all seven years with the club. Guest mz.
Nobody with a real resume wants the job. Same kind of thing as with Cleveland, eh? 1996 Baltimore Ravens (Offensive Assistant) 1997-1999 New York Jets (Defensive Quality Control Coach) 2000-2004 New England Patriots (Defensive Backs Coach) 2005 New England Patriots (Defensive Coordinator) 2006-2008 New York Jets (Head Coach) 2009-present Cleveland Browns (Head Coach) -- Seems like a pretty good resume to me, esp. for a guy not yet 40.
