Woof Woof: Week 12 Fantasy Football Follies

Turkey day is almost upon us and though there's always plenty to complain about, there is a great deal to be thankful for. Thanks to all of you for making this a really fun fantasy football season. Thanks to the commissioners who kept the leagues going and did a spectacular job of reporting on their teams. Thanks to everyone who takes the time read and comment upon this craziness. You all are the greatest. Be sure to take some time over this holiday to thank your loved ones just for being there. On Thanksgiving Day, don't forget to help with either the cooking or the cleanup. I hope none of you find yourselves alone over the holiday but if you do, remember your pals on the Browns Board and raise a glass to the fact that we still look out for one another. Though the Browns season turned out to be a turkey, we can all give thanks for the fact that we have a team and we aren't Bengals fans!

turkey2.gifIn the spirit of the season, the fantasy turkeys of the week are:

Plaxico Burress (0), LenDale White (0), Brandon Jacobs (0), Edgerrin James (0), Chad "No-Show Cinco" Johnson (0), DJ Hackett (0), Carolina DEF (-1), Green Bay DEF (-1), Brady Quinn (-3) and Arizona DEF (-3). If I missed anyone, let me know.

Beanpot's Leaue ONE: DTBH took a licking from WVBrownsfan 139-91 but they better keep on ticking if they hope to hang onto their playoff spot. DTBH faces the Ballantyne CraZees and the resurgent BrownDogs to finish off the season. A spokesperson for DTBH refused to acknowledge a likely playoff appearance, stating, "Anything can still happen."

WVBrownsfan, known for his claims of mediocrity, managed to eke out an extra point after last weeks game to negate what was once registered as a tie with Calfox KosarDawgs. The scoring change combined with this week's win gives the WVBrownsfan four victories in a row rendering their dubious claims of mediocrity absurd. Brownsfan remains in third place behind GREENville Mayhem, who defeated Beanpot 89-61. Mayhem dodged a bullet when Beanpot made what seemed like a smart decision to start QB Jay Cutler (1) over Matt Cassell (30). Gracious in victory, Mayhem acknowledged Beanpot's dilemma. "There was no way that Beans could have anticipated Cassell's outstanding day. I feel fortunate to have been in a position to take advantage of the unusual QB situation."

WPB Browns inspired his players in a pregame rant. "It's now or never!" the coach asserted, and the team proceeded to smack the Notredamers 100-71. The Browns are sniffing at the heels of DTBH and are still hoping for a miracle that will help pull them into the post season.

Beanpot's League TWO:

Lambdo's AirShow went into the weekend favored 94-78 over Huskymania and expected to glide through the matchup with Brady Quinn at the helm. Huskymania wasn't about to roll over and proceeded not only to ground the airshow but crushed, stomped and pulverized the team 131-33. Cleveland Browns Head Coach Romeo Crennel, who has recently been blamed for everything short of global warming, took the brunt of Lambdo's frustration. " ... Crennel could've left Brady Quinn (-3) in!" Browns Offensive Coordinator Chudzinski wasn't spared. "Only 20 carries for Jamal Lewis (3)? What kind of a game plan is that?" Kellen Winslow (1) and Arizona's Defense (-3) carried their share of the burden in the team's meltdown. A jubilant Huskymania delivered game balls to the Matt Cassel (30)/ Randy Moss (34) duo that put on an air show of their own to sail the team to victory. The 131 points by 'Mania was a team record and the high score for the season in League One. The 10th place Huskymania has won two in a row and has more total points than the third place Rookies. Navdawg took a 97-71 bite out of the third place Rookies, who have now lost 2 in a row.

The evenly matched Cleveland Cribbs and the PackRats expected a tough contest and weren't disappointed. The Cribbs and the Rats battled to a 122-104 finish, both teams surpassing predictions by a substantial margin. Atlanta's RB Michael Turner (31) and Green Bay WR Greg Jennings (20) were offensive leaders for the Cribbs. Drew Brees (30) and Baltimore's Defense (26) were standouts for the PackRats. The Cribbs (6-6-0) have won 4 in a row and lie in 5th place behind THE HAMMER (7-5-0). The two teams face each other in week 13 in a battle that is sure to have playoff implications. If the Cribbs can manage a win, they hold the point advantage and could move ahead of THE HAMMER.

The Usual Suspects suffered a drubbing at Beanpot's hands, 74-105. Both teams appear to be guaranteed the top seeds in the League TWO playoffs.

And the rest:

Tom Flugel's League THREE: The Flugel Report:

The Flugelmaniacs looked unbeatable early in the season but Team Sabre delivered a big dose of Randy Moss (34) causing the 'Maniacs head coach to declare "No Mas" after Sabre amassed 112 points to the 'Maniacs 43. At this point Tom is hoping that his team's not a complete turkey and someone will throw him a rope so he can climb back into the top four making the post season with a chance to come back into earlier form. Want a little irony or karma? Last week, somebody had a little holiday theme fun with the Calfox Cratchets and Tiny Tim. Evidently, the Ghost of Christmas Present paid the Flugelmaniacs a little visit and scared the Dickens out of his offense to the tune of 43 points and "Bah humbug!" THIS WEEK the Calfox Cratchets weren't the only team with the lowest point total of 43. The KosarDawgs (aka the Cratchets) bowed to the Noble Savages 83-43.

The Cleveland Steamers and the Devil Dawgs may be in the middle of the pack but they haven't given up the ghost. After a full week of media overinforming us of McNabb's unhappiness to learn NFL matchups could end in ties, the Steamers played with the Devil's fire and the two sides wrestled themselves into a great big knot. Not that there's anything wrong with that because nobody lost in spite of scoring 91 points this late in the year.

Everyone thought the ChooChoo's were a train that couldn't be stopped until Rice's Rampage rolled into town. The Rampage had a well distributed 89 point attack that was unleashed on the Choo Choos who could only come up with 72. The Choo Choo's are trying to forget about Sunday and are looking ahead to this week. Their head coach was overheard murmuring "I think I can, I think I can..." while developing the game plan for this week.

*Fan Of STEEL 107 Final

Believeland 86

FOS: Tony Romo 22, Chicago Def 20, Marion Barber 13, John Carney 13

Believeland: Anquan Boldin 22, Aaron Rodgers 20

* This was a matchup where Believeland started Steven Jackson (who was declared out for Sunday) in place of Warrick Dunn's 19 points. In addition, Ricky Williams' 10 points was left on the bench in lieu of Jonathan Stewart's 1 point in the starting lineup. That's a difference of 28 points that could have overcome the 21 point margin of defeat. In fairness to FOS, he had the 2nd highest point total of 12 teams AND he took the time out to set his starting lineup so he played guys that were active. FOS now believes and Santa Claus.

*Bermeck's Ky Hicks 45

Waiting For Noodles 3 53

Waiting For Noodles: Tim Hightower 13, Joseph Addai 13, David Garrard 8

Bermey's Hicks: Steve Smith 19, Nick Folk 19, Ryan Grant 8

* This was a defensive battle that was heavily influenced by No-Show Cinco and DJ Hackett both getting benched at the last minute and producing a combined 0 points. If you think those were tough breaks for Bermey's Hicks it actually got worse. Their starting QB Donovan McNabb had minus 5 points while RB Rudi Johnson teased the scoreboard with 1 point. The timing of this is perfect because all Bermey has to do to feel a little more thankful about his luck is to turn on the television this Thursday and watch the Detroit Lions. That's got "gobble-gobble" written all over it.

Heidi's League FOUR:

Commissioner Heidi Reports:

As the battle for the playoff spots really heats up, Team DangeRuss has lived up to his name by clinching his place in the playoffs by topping wrfootball 82, 84-78. Right now as it stands in the Semifinal round it will be Team DangeRuss (1) against Illegal Procedure (4) and Brownsfaininkorea (2) facing Season Ending Injury (3). Brownsfaninkorea secured his position by washing off the dirty hands 78-50. It will be interesting to see how this plays out and if these will be the final four teams in the playoffs. Someone else could sneak in and possibly take Illegal Procedure out. It's still a fight to the finish.

Season Ending Injury came out on top in points for the second week in a row with 139 by putting the blitz on Blitzburg who chalked up only 81. SEI will be sharing the Viagra trophy with League One's WVBrownsfan. This is SEI's first year in fantasy sports and have clearly proven that they are a force to be reckoned with. Look out for them in the future!

vdogrowz managed to kick the stuffing out of My Helmet's 2 Tight's turkey this week and scored the league's second hightest total, defeating MH2T, 127-66. vdog may be in 8th place in the standings but he has not given up and continues to bring it every week. The MH2T describes the team as "the Browns of League 4" stating, "We've decided to put our head in the oven with the Thanksgiving turkey." Don't throw in the towel yet, 2Tight, you might need it to do the dishes!

Also, just for grins, a holiday treat from Heidi:

The football-playing turkey

The pro football team had just finished their daily practice session when a large turkey came strutting onto the field. While the players gazed in amazement, the turkey walked up to the head coach and demanded a tryout.

Everyone stared in silence as the turkey caught pass after pass and ran right through the defensive line. When the turkey returned to the sidelines, the coach shouted, "You're terrific!!! Sign up for the season, and I'll see to it that you get a huge bonus."

"Forget the bonus," the turkey said, "All I want to know is, does the season go past Thanksgiving Day?"

Happy Thanksgiving to all leagues from The Brownsboard!!

Have a wonderful holiday everyone,

Gobble Gobble!

We take every game one at a time..... We never take any opponent lightly.... There's no "I" in team..... We leave it all out on the field...... etc. etc.

Thanks for the updates all season Kathy ! Happy Thanksgiving everyone. To look on the bright side, I guess we can all be thankful that we don't root for the Lions. ;)

Great job Kathy! And better late thann never but Happy Thanksgiving everybody! Hope you all had a good day and found many thing to be thankful for.

I know that My Helmet's 2 Tight is thankful that the season is almost over ugh! Seriously, this season went by fast. Well except for the slow agonizing death if you're a Browns fan.

Only a couple of weeks to go and Team DandeRuss is right. Gotta go game by game. But from the looks of it, everyone has done a great job no matter what place they end up in.
