Police say Thomas Hovis, 52, tried to elude arrest by hiding in a great big vat of liquefied poop. Hovis is a convicted felon and career criminal who was wanted on drug charges. Police say he was holed up inside a barn, but they couldn't find him. Turns out, all they really needed to do was follow the smell... down the trough where fecal matter is sprayed and into the vat where it collects. When they looked inside the stink pit, they saw the top of Hovis' head, according to the Journal Gazette. Hovis, a convicted killer who served 15 years in the stomping death of a cab driver, may not have eluded police -- but he did land a sweet-smelling spot in the Weird Crime Mug Shot Hall of Shame.
