THE BROWNS BOARD

Browns Season ticket holders lets hear from you

Excuse me for not living in greater NEO and not having season tickets but I can still comment on this team and make observations.

What I cant do is say that I invested money and time in season tickets and having a home presence at games. I am guessing that only a fraction of the posters on this board actually fall into that category.

So I am curious to hear what the actual freight payers have to say about this season..

Bitter beyond all hope? Still patient? Ready to cash em in? No way for next year?

Thanks man.

You know what irks me? We go to the stadium game after after game and see familiar faces. Those faces are bummed and frustrated just like me (and others). We've become sort of a fraternity of idiots. Lerner sends his invoices and we send our checks.

There are others among us (actually most) that are first-timers or not-regulars. They are complete and total as$holes. Theydon't know football. They don't know Larry Benz from Larry the Cable Guy. And yet people (presumably nice people) give them tickets. They buy and wear wear Browns stuff. They boo players like DA, but they're really not sure why. It just seems like the thing to do.

They bore me. i miss the old Browns and their fans.

I sensed something today heading INTO the game that I've never sensed before. I've been to almost every game for the past 4 years, and today the fans were NOT in the game. I'm not saying once we were losing. I'm not even saying once the game started. Even on pulling into downtown Cleveland, it felt different. No one was hyped. No one was excited. Tons of people left that game well before it was sure that the Browns would lose.

It felt like even if we WON people wouldn't care. They're sick of the up and down inconsistency, they're sick of a joke of a coach and a joke of a team. Game after game after game after year after year of selling out their lives to a team who couldn't give a shit about them...people are finally losing their will with this team.

You spend a lot of money on gas, tickets, food and beer, and they don't even try to win the game. You get nothing for the money you invest. Let alone the love, dedication, and passion. This whole fan base is becoming jaded.

I live in South Carolina and own season tickets. I keep waiting for the team to get good so I can justify making the trip home to see some games. My trips home now happen for weddings, funerals, family illness and whathaveyou, but they no longer revolve around Browns games. I'm wondering why I hang onto the tickets but I can't quite make myself turn them loose. If I allow superstition to take over, I can make myself believe that once I sell the tickets the Browns will FINALLY turn things around and I will immediately regret having given them up. I just can't make myself hand over my seats to the new generation of "fan" that doesn't really know what the term means.

I won't cash them in.....even if I could.....I make the trip up from Tennessee with high hopes, and usually head home pissed......one of these days, the last half of that statement won't be true.

I was a season ticket holder up until prior to last season...and then they went 10-6...go figure. But that appears to have been a hoax now that we're over halfway thru this season. The reason I didn't renew my tickets ( I didn't sell them, couldn't find a buyer) was exactly what we saw today on the field. The sad part is it almost makes me feel glad that I didn't renew them with what we're seeing this season. I really miss municipal stadium...when we lost that and the team, it changed the fan base and the whole browns organization. I loved the crowds in the old stadium and the atmosphere...thats all gone now, and with the way the browns are playing, won't be back anytime soon. The bright side? The browns got their nice new stadium with the extra luxury boxes to create all that extra cash. Too bad that doesn't win games.

I attend every game and I'm just numb and been numb for a while .... oh wait, that's from the alcohol ... never mind, when I sober up I'll give input.

Go Cavs!

I agree, no one was chanting, no one was excieted! I was in the Dawg Pound and it was silent. The only time I saw the crowd get excieted was to immediately start booing BE when he dropped his first ball. It was terrible. I am not looking forward to next week.

Sober now (I think)

I only attended these remaining games this season because of our tailgate group. The party has been the majority of the fun since our return to the league, the games are a bore and downer most of the time.

Last season was probably the best because we won seven straight at home and competed in the league.

I hate to do it to the group, but I'm pretty close to giving up.

I beliebve the Browns played the last 'hope card' in inserting Brady Quinn ... we've probably gotten worst, or the loser mentality of talent on this team has just been more magnified.

Maybe Ed, Don & I and the other regulars can get together for each game out in the suburbs. Treking downtown has become a chore.

I'm all in favor of ousting he Browns and turning the stadium into a casino though.

I don't blame you man.....you guys put in a lot of work doing that......just do some Saturday Night outs....I would still like to hang with you guys every now and again.

Plus.....you aren't getting rid of your tickets

Every week I get up at 6am on a sunday to drive 2 hours and have a blast in a parking lot only to sit in dispair for the following 3 or so hours. Been a fan all my life, finally wondering if its worth the thousands of dollars i really dont have to come and watch this team. I could just as easily watch from the bar 2 blocks from my house and maybe spend $20. For the first time in my 29 years Im disgusted with this team.

Getting more sober now .... (with more thought)

Season Ticket holders are just half of it. How about guys like Marko who have flown in from California for a festive weekend the past two seasons only to see the Browns lay an egg to the Steelers. Or Zombo, KSHutchins or Rich who had/have season tickets but grew tired of the long trips in from Florida & the Carolina's several times per year, or Ballpeen who makes his way in town each Home game from Tenneessee? These people support the local hotel chains, area restaurants, cab fares, (police departments in Zippys case), etc ..

How about Howie & G-man making the trip from England each of the past two years? Or all the Canadians we've met at our tailgate parties who cross the border to see this puke of a team?

There are thousands of stories such as these. On any given game day tailgate party we probably usually represent about five states and at least two countries just in our gathering alone.

It's really a sad state of affairs considering such a following, although that is looking at things from just the football and standings point of view ....

I attend all the games because I've made one big group of great friends here, and get the privledge of meeting many new faces with just about every Home Game. We've planned golf outings, and attended Cavs & Indians games together. We've made roadtrips together, and have gotten together even when the Browns aren't involved. We've attended high school football games, met for dinner, drinks, or a night out. We've met each others families and have become one big extended family. Those are aspects that can't have a dollar worth put to them ... those are the aspects we now ride on and live by, and not so much the wins and losses. So, for those who scolf at us still spending our hard earned money and attending theses games - we actually feel sorry for you all, that you've missed out on all the fun times and great people we've experienced.

Wins would have been the icing on the cake, but I'll take the friends I've made with no regrets. If it weren't for the Browns we would just have to be more clever on thinking up a reason to start drinking at 9:00am on Sunday mornings out in a bitter cold parking lot.

It's all good, and beats work.

(I think that I'm starting to get my sea legs back ... bring on the Colts!)

I drive 5 hrs each way and I'm one of the Canadians Stan mentioned. I usually bring one of my 2 sons who are 11 and 13. We come in Saturday afternoon, stay 2 nights at the Radisson and my kids usually eat their body-weight in Winking Lizard wings.

Why do I still come all that way?

I've been recently diagnosed as functionally Retarded....so I got that going for me.

Christies has 2 for 1 Bud or Bud Lights before, during and after the game. The 2nd half from Christies with $1.75 Buds is highly recommended to fellow season ticket holders, not a bad seat in the house.

Nice plug for Christies ...

ONB, I have to commend you for this post. It shows to me that you are interested in more than 1 player, and maybe you are becoming a true Browns fan.

As for the fans, I understand why they are bitter, downtrodden, and pessimists. They haven't shown us much in the last 20+ years of their existance. Every year, it's like a bad recording in a loop, except for one fluke year out of 10. If I was a paying customer, I would be twice as pissed, because not only are my hopes crushed, but it costs serious coin to see tragedy every Sunday. My dream before dying, (I'm 42, times ticking) is to see the Browns win a championship. Do I see any glimmer of hope of that happening.........there's always next year. I feel for the season ticket holders, Lerner is getting fat on that sh*tty product he trots out on the field. Hope your soccer team is doing ok Randy.

I've been back twice and yeah in both cases the game sucked (although this year we were close at least) but I'll still come back next year again because of the opportunity to spend time with the guys from this board. As Skippy said...you can't put a price tag on how much fun those weekends are and I wish that I could be there every week and I guarentee if I lived there I would be right there with you. I get close to just saying screw it...I'm not going to watch anymore and save myself $250 for the Sunday Ticket...but there's no way I can give up on this team.

Although, I've never hated a Browns coach as much as I hate Romeo.
