THE BROWNS BOARD

Branyan up, Brantley down

As expected, Brantley is headed back to Triple-A Columbus to make room for the veteran Branyan. The move was originally anticipated to take place by Opening Day, but the herniated disc in Branyan's lower back did not cooperate with that plan.

Now that Branyan has gotten a few games in the Minors under his belt, the Indians are planning to activate him from the 15-day disabled list before Tuesday's series opener against the Twins at Target Field. Branyan will be the Tribe's regular at first base, while Matt LaPorta will begin seeing time in left field.

Well, it made the service time dilemma easy to handle.

When Brantley's not getting on base (.229 OBP), he's not doing much to help the team. His walk rate has gone way down and his K rate has gone way up in his limited time in the majors, hopefully he can get back his famous plate discipline in Columbus.

Branyan will strike out, Branyan will miss games. But a veteran RBI threat will be nice to have.

And hopefully give some protection to LaPorta,Hafner,or Peralta....give'm a chance to find their stroke

Yep. Aside from a couple Valbuena dingers, the bottom 3 has been pretty brutal.

Wake me up when peralta gets sent down to little league. It should be soon.

At some point, Tribe management will decide to just leave Peralta in extended spring training. Call him up towards the end of May. These slow starts are getting ridiculous.
