Brady Quinn - Injured Finger

I'm hearing rumors that somehow Quinn broke a finger? Anyone hear about this or have more details?

It was reported on the radio, possibly on Fox8 News. . . maybe Crennel mentioned something in a press conference?

I'm getting word of mouth updates from my coworker. . . we'll call him John Williams to protect his identity. . . apparently he practiced yesterday and had some soreness, though it was a bruise. Saw a hand specialist, and apparently it's a hairline fracture. He'll continue to practice and play through it.

Cleveland Browns Brady Quinn has right index finger fracture

by Tony Grossi Thursday November 20, 2008, 11:19 AM

Brady Quinn has a small fracture in his right index finger, but is expected to make his third straight start on Sunday.

Coach Romeo Crennel said the fracture was discovered on an X-ray, which was taken after Quinn complained of soreness in the finger after Wednesday's practice.

Quinn was examined by a hand specialist, who cleared him to play, the coach said.

"This is a small fracture," Crennel said.

Quinn will wear a splint on the finger when he's not practicing or playing.

OK, before anyone starts going crazy....it is a small fx on the TIP of the finger...not anything that will effect the grip of the ball.

Here are some more injury updates:

Five set to return to practice

11.20.2008

The Browns are expecting to have five players back on the practice field Thursday but will still be without key contributors Kellen Winslow, Sean Jones, Jerome Harrison and Shaun Smith.

Browns coach Romeo Crennel said returning to practice after missing Wednesday will be Lawrence Vickers (ankle), Shaun Rogers (general soreness), Corey Williams (shoulder), Jason Wright (neck) and Willie McGinest (not injury related).

Of the players who will sit again Thursday, Crennel said, "to this point nobody has been ruled out of the game. They're all hopeful they might have a chance to do something."

All four were injured last Monday night in Buffalo. Winslow has a shoulder sprain, Smith has a calf injury, Jones has an ankle sprain but not a high ankle sprain and Harrison suffered a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter.

There was also one addition to the injury list Thursday. Crennel said Brady Quinn bruised his hand Monday night when he hit it on another player's helmet.

"He finished the game and played with it, but it was still sore yesterday," Crennel said. "On the x-ray it showed he has a small fracture on the tip of his index finger on his throwing hand. He will wear a splint at the times he's not practicing and not playing.

"He made it through practice OK. The hand specialist said because it's a fracture the soreness is the thing he'll have to deal with the most this week. After this week it should die down.

"He gripped it pretty good yesterday. He was throwing the ball good."

The Browns will release their official injury report Thursday afternoon.

Sounds like we may have EVERYONE for the game.

(sorry lummy, doesn't sound like a benching injury!!!)

Quinn banged his hand on the helmet of the rusher in his face - a rusher that I believe went straight in unblocked. Up the middle.

Is Buffalo that good? what the freakin happened to the pass protection?

The Browns need a RT in a huge way, but right up center? You could have driven two Harley's through that gap, right in front of Quinn.

That was some good work by the Buffalo D to disguise a blitz, draw the O-Linemen away from one another, and just send a LB right through the hole. Typically we would see Lewis/Wright/Ali/Vickers pick up that blitz, but that didn't happen this time.

Quinn is tough. No problem. DA was out weeks for a concussion (where the replay showed he didn't hit his head) and was also out with a non-fractured finger after he hit a helmet.

No biggie. Not listed on the injury report, but will be updated this afternoon sometime.

Does it mean that we will be seeing DA in there again?

This only goes to show why you need two....or 3 decent QBs. Only about half the QBs in the NFL go down injured at some point in time for a couple of games if not longer.

True statement to bad DA most likely wont stay he is a killer backup...

A QB who can't throw the deep ball happened.

Don't mind Lum. He'd never even seen BQ play before the Denver game and is merely reporting what DA told him at the Scappoose Rotary Club meeting last month.

You don't have time to throw the deep ball with three defenders in your face a second after the ball is snapped.

Psh.. you do when your name is Derek Anderson... DUH

All I know is that the Browns would rather have a QB with a broken finger on his throwing hand in the game rather than have DA under center.

...By the way, This is my first post....love the board, you guys are great (most of you anyway).

Ya don't say?......

Yes, that would explain all the blitzing.

You ought to get that message to Quinn.

He did, douchebag, its called: Wheel pass to Harrison for 21 yards.

Oh, don't tell me we are going to have to hear about these wussy injuries after every start ... injuries are for preseason.

I truly believe the only reason ATE has such a hard on for Anderception is to keep conversation going in these forums. Because I KNOW he is more intelligent than he is making himself sound. A broken finger on your throwing hand is not insignificant for a QB. Quinn played through it and helped bring us a victory. He didn't even want to talk about it, and tried to skirt over it when approached by reporters. Kosar was on WKNR earlier and said it most definitely effects your throw. He injured the finger early on in the game.

Can you imagine what would have happened in that game if the very immobile Anderson had to stand in there and face that blitz. I'd say 4 INTs and about 4 sacks.

I know have a much greater appreciation for how good Ryan Tucker really is. He supported Shafer and let Fraley handle his position. Hadnot may be able to handle his position but he can't help Fraley or Shafer. Shafer may tie Wimbley for the biggest underachiever on this team...................ops, I forgot Edwards

Foolz,

Are we freakin cursed or what? The GOOD thing is BQ is alot tougher than Tony Romance so he didn't need to come out of the game for a broken finger. Allegedly it happened in the first quarter and he played really good IMO. It sounds like he thinks he'll be fine to play.
