Beanpot
Someone posted this over at BTF and it's all kinds of awesome. Bob Feller interviewed by Mike Wallace in August of 1957. Brought to you by Phillip Morris - the best natural smoke you ever tasted. Owners v. Players deluxe. It's all about the reserve clause. Feller argues length of career (4.5 years at the time) and Wallace responds with average salary ($18,000 a year!) I really encourage anyone at all interested in the sport to check this sucker out: (video link) http://www.hrc.utexas.edu/multimedia/video...feller_bob.html Beyond Feller, there are a ton of Wallace interviews from the 50's at this site: http://www.hrc.utexas.edu/collections/film/holdings/wallace/ Beanpot

Beanpot
Great find. I sent these links over to my dad, I know he'll get a kick out of it. Very cool. I watched the Orval Faubus and Eldon Edwards interviews and was freaking stunned by the mindset. We have the benefit of history to help point out the errors of their thought process, but it's pretty terrific to have a candid look at just what "prominent" leaders of certain cultures believed at the time.
