MEET THE MEN BEHIND THE TAILGATE PARTIES:

Labeled: Cleveland Browns Tailgating 'Super Fans' by Reporter Peter Chakerian of "The Browns Fan's Tailgating guide"-published 2008

ED

(aka: Roachmstr)

Ed's probably the nicest guy in the group, he'd throw out his back cooking for ya. If you want to know "What's Cooking?" Ed would be the guy to contact. Ed and Don take lead role in the food preparation.

Diehard Browns Fan, Ed, with his famous "I hate the Steelers" t-shirt

STAN

(aka: ATENEARS)

Stan is the guy that can reel you in. If your a first time visitor or trying to find your way back, Stan will provide Map & Directions to the Tailgate. Once there, look for beer in  hand and shit grin on his face and you've found, "Stan".

DON

(aka: Sperk)

This is the guy behind the scenes that makes it all a success. Don carefully selects the menu for the tailgates and has a major hand in it's preparation. Don works for Jello-shots and cigars, if he starts to whine about his duties just toss him another.

Sperk all dressed up for a picture with his favorite Browns player, Kelly Holcomb

ABOUT THE BROWNS BOARD TAILGATE PARTY

We pride ourselves at welcoming in the out-of-town fan for a full tailgate experience. Our niche is in catering to the out of town (Browns) fans and allowing them to get to know the regulars through our on-line message board before they ever board a plane or head toward Cleveland. Our local regulars prepare all the food and layout the entire spread depending on the head count. We will even supply cooler, ice, and ones favorite beverage if ordered ahead of time. A donation can is placed out to help us maintain expenses from one party to the next.

The patrons who visit not only meet new people with like interest (the Cleveland Browns), but many times result into long lasting friendships that have them coming back each season. We have provided the game day experience (many times for their first times ever even in the city of Cleveland) for hundreds of visitors to our city. It is not unusual for our guest to think they've traveled the farthest from their homes in Arizona, only to meet other groups from California who claim the title until folks from Vancouver British Columbia start to count their travel miles against them before all are trumped by a visitor from Ireland or England. In fact, we went nearly three consecutive seasons with representatives from our neighbors up North in Canada at every home game.

It's truly a lot of fun and our group has grown as most come back year after year, if even for one select game. We have also become the landing spot for many season ticket holders who live out of state and only come in for a handful of games ... we can point to out of town guests who have purchased season tickets because they now know people in which to party with prior to games and sometimes even meet for dinner with or attend another event (Cavs, Indians, fundraisers, etc..) the night prior.

See our Q & A page for more details on what we do and what we are all about.

TheBrownsBoard.Com members are invited to join us for our tailgate party.

The Browns Fan's Tailgating Guide

Whether you tailgate in the Muni Lot with hoards of other Browns fans or in the backyard with the neighbors, you'll enjoy the inspiring party mix of useful tips and fun stories in this book. Reporter Peter Chakerian spent a year hanging with the city's most dedicated tailgaters to uncover the food, games, clothes, and gear that make Browns tailgating such a wild pastime. It's filled with their suggestions for where and how to tailgate, as well as their favorite tailgating tales. It's a celebration for the veteran tailgater--and a great introduction for newbies.

SCENES FROM THE TAILGATES

HOME TOWN FANS KEEP THE LIGHT ON FOR THEIR OUT-OF-STATE COUNTERPARTS

The Browns Board new Tailgate location near settlers Landing RTA station in the Flats LEFT: The Browns Board moved their Tailgate Party near the Settlers Landing RTA Station (pictured, left) in 2008, do to major construction underway on top of their old original site. The new site is under the white Detroit Superior Bridge in background.

RIGHT: The Settlers Landing Station (shown bottom left corner of picture on the right) is located at the bend in the Cuyahoga River on the East Bank of the Flats in downtown Cleveland.

Keith from Ireland and Angelo's group from Canada made the initial tailgate party at the new site in 2008 a big success  LEFT: The Browns Board's initial Tailgate Party in the new location for week #1 of the 2008 Season was among one of the best ever. This picture was sent in by Keith who was visiting from Ireland, and others in the pictures include a large group from Canada.

RIGHT: Several of the Browns Board members hooked up down in Nashville for a game. from left to right is; Flugels, Ozzie, Dave & Rich4eagle

LEFT: Week #1 during the 2008 Season, the Canucks stumble in hung-over as hell but they didn't let us down, they made the party one of the best ever.

RIGHT: Angelo says, "Don't worry we will be back again Next season!"

LEFT: Howard & Gareth returned from London England on November 21st, 2008. It was their second consecutive year attending a Browns game in Cleveland. Howie & the G-man took in the OSU/Mich game from the local bars downtown, then we all attended a Cavs game that night, tailgated as we know how in the morning, and watched the Browns fall lame to the Texans on Sunday afternoon. From left to right: Howard, Ed, HagII, Don & Gareth.

RIGHT: HagII (Kathy) warms by the fire as others warm just off picture over a bottle of Black Velvet & some of that orange stuff that Hoorta brings. .

LEFT: The new Tailgate Lot is a spacious one. This picture was taken as we were setting up, and before most of the gang arrived.

RIGHT: Don tends to the Kielbasa Kabobs. Ed & Don make a good team; Ed prepared those Kielbasa treats all day on Saturday and Don helps cook 'em for the gang on Game day. It's been 9 years since we we've been hosting these parties and it's still unsure what Stan actually does.

LEFT: Our resident wine-o (Hoorta) was back in town for the Texans game (Nov 23rd, 08'). Hoorta looks out for the rest of the group by sampling everything and anything that makes it's way to the tailgate party in a bottle.

RIGHT: It snowed and was just nasty all week here in the Cleveland area, but on Game day their wasn't a cloud in the sky and just traces of snow downtown as the welcomed mild weather was just another excuse the Browns couldn't use for a horribly lazy performance in a 16-6 loss to the Texan's in Week #12.

LONDON ENGLAND RABID DAWGS

LEFT: Howard & Gareth traveled 3,791 miles from their homes near London England. It was their first Browns game in Cleveland. They became attracted to the Browns because of the teams rabid fan base.

RIGHT: HowieDawg & G-man wiping the fixed smiles off their faces for a brief moment to appear to look tough in this photo with a Browns Helmet and football.

USELESS TAILGATE TRIVIA:

THEY LOVE US IN CANADA, eh!

The Browns Board Tailgate Party has had a visitor (or more like a group of visitors) from Canada at all but one tailgate party over the past three seasons. Our Northern friends come bearing cigars and whisky (as well as some sweet flavory shit from time to time), but that's not why we give them props here ... it's so they bring more cigars, whisky and that sweet shit! Welcome, eh!

Nov. 4th, 2007

Cleveland Browns defeat the Seattle  Seahawks 33-30 in OT for third straight victory and fourth straight in front of the Home Crowd.

INTERNATIONAL TAILGATE PARTY

A pair from London England joined in as well as two parties from Ontario and one from Vancouver British Columbia mixed in with Browns fans from Idaho, New Jersey, Milwaukee, Erie, Zanesville, Dayton, Canton and our regular crew.

LEFT (top): Tink makes his way in from Zanesville annually to hook up with the gang.

LEFT (bottom): Now we know why the Browns Defense is playing so soft, some of our regular tailgate crew have been putting freaking Whip Cream on their Jello-shots!!! Outrage!

Right: The MaGee's (Kathy & Bob, aka: 'Bob806') from Berea are part of the Mullin's Bus gang and have made the tailgate parties a regular stop for the 2007 Season.

LEFT: On Opening Day 2007, Cleveland's FEAST MAGAZINE visited our tailgate party to do a story on Ed & Don's lakefront cooking. Click on the picture for a larger version to read the article and bring pen and paper to the next tailgate for Ed & Don's autograph.

RIGHT: It took one of our neighboring tailgate brethren, a man lift, and the consumption of alcohol to perform an exorcist on the lake front. The Browns never lost at home the rest of the 2007 season (7-0!).

LEFT: Stan, Ed & Don enjoy a beverage in week # 6. A needed break after the trio hosted a stretch of tailgate parties that included 3 Division Opponent Home games within the first 4 weeks of the 2007 season.

RIGHT: TheUMX, danamal & Anvilhead took in the Miami Game on Oct. 14th, 2007. The Browns are 3-0 in TheUmx's first three tailgate parties, it's danamals first visit and Anvilheads second in as many seasons.

LEFT: The Next Generation; these two off-spring have a lot of pressure on their shoulders to continue the tailgate traditions long after we're gone. Ed's daughter Colleen and Don's son Dave.

RIGHT: Constellation Brands, Inc. (Fairport NY), sent in 20 of their finest. The group came in for a team-building weekend and left drunken Browns fans.

LEFT: September 30th 2007 Tailgate Party prior to beating the Ravens, proved to be one of the biggest, as 20 traveled in by Motor Coach from Constellation Brands, Inc. (Fairport NY), A dozen Canucks from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, mixed in with Mullins Group, Ballpeen, Guardian, St. Louis Browns Backers, and groups from Tennessee, the Bronx, Dayton, as well as our regular crew. About 70 in Total. It was a hell of a party as Don and Ed fixed hundreds of pork on a stick and chicken on a stick for the gang.
Scenes from THE BROWNS BOARD NIGHT OUT, Sept 8th, 2007
LEFT: Guardian, his better half, HagII and Dave mix up the right ingredients for week 2 as the Browns downed the Bengals in an epic shoot-out.

RIGHT: Don & Ed worry about preparations for the meal the night before Opening day. Meanwhile, Atenears is off having the time of his life without a care in the world! They'd fire him, if he did anything.

LEFT: Ed (aka: Rochmstr) flew solo for Opening Day 2007, as Don had to stay home and clean the house or something. Ed prepared Chicken Kabobs for the group and then we marched into the stadium and watched the Browns get their ass kicked.

RIGHT: (from left to right) Zombo (Florida), Mimi & Jarrod (Dayton), Keith (Scotland) and Marko (San Diego) were just a few big name out-of-towners/country that were present for the first game in 2007.

LEFT: These are two of my favorite visitors of all-time. Rob (on left) bought his father Pat (on right) tickets for Opening Day 2007. They traveled in from San Diego, made their way to the Football Hall of Fame and attended TheBrownsBoard's first Night Out Party!

RIGHT: The Browns Board Night Out (first official), was held on Saturday Sept. 8th, 2007 at Scoundrels in Berea. There's not enough space here to describe what a good time was had that night, see the link to more on this event (above).

LEFT: The Roacheck family is the Royal 'First Family of Tailgating'. Ed, with his father, son and wife. (I know I know, I'm surprised they aren't all wearing 'I Hate The Steelers' shirts too!)

RIGHT: Brothers Jarrod & Shawn made the mistake of parking next to us a few years back, they've been hooked ever since. Intimidated at first by Ed, they somehow found comfort in the innocent look of Atenears (we never claimed they were smart).

LEFT: 'Janine' (center) was coming into Cleveland, to support her beloved Jets. She needed to find a place to tailgate for her and her dozen friends. She made one stop on the Internet, to TheBrownsBoard.com. The rest was a legendary party!

RIGHT: The Jets fans came to town (Oct. 29th, 06') 13-strong. They left with memories of some fine hospitality from our local tailgate crew, and a 20-13 loss sending them into their Bye week.

LEFT: A group of Canucks, traveled in from Ontario Canada, as neutral fans of various teams. They just wanted to see Cleveland Browns Stadium and party with the die-hard Browns fans. TheBrownsBoard tailgate party fulfilled their trip.

RIGHT: HagII and friends huddle inside Atenears silver soccer-mom van to stay warm  ... and whined endlessly about the early cold weather (Oct. 22nd vs Denver)
