Hi, Browns fans! The Battle Of Ohio in the NFL continues as Cleveland Browns seeking to win the first regular season game in 2017, take the short 220 mile flight across the Buckeye State, as they the play the 4-6 Cincinnati Bengals in their 89th all-time meeting. Bengals are the first divisional opponent the Browns are playing again in their home and home series in the AFC North. Cleveland have not won a regular season game since Cody Parkey kicked his game-decided 27-yard field goal with less than 11 minuies left in the fourth quarter, and the Browns, won their only game in their 2016 regular season, defeating the San Diego Chargers at FirstEnergy Stadium back Robert Griffin III also completed 17 of his 25 passes for 164 yards, on Christmas Eve, 12/24 2016. Browns also have not won a regular season game going into week 12, their last win, a 25-0 preseason road win at Chicago in August, finishing and undefeated and 4-0 preseason. Cincinnati still leads the all-time regular season series over Cincinnati 49 wins and 39 losses, including their current six game winning streak over our Browns after 88 games. Bengals have outscored the Browns 183-47 in those previous six meetings, beginning on December 2014. Cleveland seeks to win their first game in three years over Cincinnati, since the Browns 24-3 win back on November 6, 2014. Sunny and clear skies at 46 degrees, feels like 42 degrees, is the game forecast inside Paul Brown Stadium, for the 1:05PM Eastern Standard Time kickoff, along with 0% precipitation, 56% humidity, and western winds at 7 miles per hour. I hope you guys don't mind, but I thought it'd be nice to get the game post up and running so we could have a venue to talk about the upcoming match up. So are we going to win? No, don't be ridiculous. The sad thing is, the Bengals are NOT a good football team. They rank last in points scored per game, and they are last in other offensive categories. They don't run the ball well, AJ Green has only gone over 100 yards once in the last 5 games, and they really have been struggling to put points on the board and finish games in a strong manner. "So Jiggins, all of these stats and points you make seem good for the Browns, so why won't we win?" I'm glad you asked. The Bengals may struggle to score the ball, but make no mistake, they play physical defense and they punish the QB. Their defensive line is VERY similar to the Jaguars, and Geno Atkins has ALWAYS tortured our team. You remember the gif that showed Atkins blowing Cam Erving's azz apart and sent him flying through the air like an extra in "The Matrix"? Atkins is a beast and he will not only destroy Kizer, but he will also disrupt our feeble running game. Additionally, the Bengals have a DL named Lawson who leads all rookies in sacks with 5.5, and he too will get in on the action. Our offense does NOT match up well against tough, physical defenses, and if you thought our offense struggled last week, just wait until you get a load of THIS game. I don't want anyone to forget how bad this Bengals team destroyed us the first time. If my memory serves me well, we essentially got shutout until Kevin Hogan entered the game and took us on one touchdown drive. It was bad. "But Jiggins, that was earlier in the season, surely we're better NOW, right? Uhhhhh...no...no we're not. Corey Coleman and Myles Garrett didn't play the first time, but we're also going to be without Joe Thomas, Ogbah, Meder, and possibly others. AJ Green is licking his chops in anticipation of the game, and he kicked our butt last time. Mostly this game will come down to defense, and we'll lose badly because we simply don't match up well with physically imposing units, and then you realize OUR defense is the absolute worst in the league in the red zone (I think teams score TOUCHDOWNS 79% of red zone visits...which is ridiculously atrocious) Similar to last week, the only way we win is if our defense and special teams score, and that was basically the difference in the Jags game. Our defense scores in that ugly match up, we might've won. Our special teams are miserable, but I really hoped our defense would score more touchdowns and force more turnovers this year. Maybe that starts Sunday...but I wouldn't hold your breath. Even if our defense scores TWO touchdowns, it likely wouldn't be enough to overcome the drumming we're in store for Sunday. It's sad because the Bengals aren't good at ALL, but our offense is so bad and plays so awful against physical defenses, that I can't even comprehend a way we score over 10 points. What say you guys? You think last week's terrible performance will be enough to provide us with a spark offensively? I certainly don't, but I want to be wrong. If Kizer has another dismal showing, it's going to get really ugly in Cleveland.
