  1. I’d hate to see football playoffs become like hockey. But two more playoff spots and a longer schedule are likely to happen, if not now then eventually, as they both mean more money.
  2. From now on, I will refer to him as ABSC.
  3. How true. He left a lot more money on the table than the rest of us will ever see. I have the feeling I’ve seen this movie before, except that the main character seems to have been stopped before he did serious harm, and Ford stopped making the Bronco so they couldn’t do that part of it.
  4. Oh boy! My new Antonio Brown jersey came today!
  5. I didn’t do it but I would have if I’d thought of it. A few years back i DID try to sign up for that contest CBS Sports had, to have Coach Cowher come coach your team. It would not let me enter “Cleveland Browns” as the team. They must have got wise.....
  6. A coordinator job is the traditional path to a head coaching position in the NFL. Unless we’re talking the Browns, in which case the head coaching job is a stepping stone to a coordinator position elsewhere.
  7. I think Lou Saban would be a good fit. He coached everywhere, average gig about 2 years. That is a bit longer than the average Browns head coaching tenure but close enough. He also was a player under Paul Brown, which is always a plus. Lou ruined the deal by dying about ten years ago, though.
  8. Seems impossible at this point that Pgh could have even a theoretical chance at the playoffs, but there you go. Their offense is so bad right now I don’t see them beating even Baltimore’s JV squad.
  9. D’Andre Swift has a name that begins with “De” (phonetically anyway) and has an unnecessary apostrophe. I say take him if you can. He is going to be good.
  10. Gip I think his name was Butler By’note’. Unfortunately he was just a journeyman d back, and By’note’ became a mere fo’otnote’. If he had but one more unnecessary apostrophe he might have become a star. Guys with an Islamic sounding first name and the last name from one of the early Presidents are also potentially good draft picks. Mohammed Jackson, Khalid Van Buren, Jamal Jefferson.
  11. Pick a player whose first name begins with De or La, or has unnecessary apostrophes in their name. They seem to work out. Also an Anglo Saxonish last name. The more apostrophes the better. Like DeForest Kelley or something.
  12. This is a fun online toy that can be used to calculate any team’s chance of making the playoffs. It does not look good for the Browns. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/upshot/cleveland-browns-nfl-playoff-picture.html#ari-cle-15=loss&pit-buf-15=win&cle-bal-16=win&nyj-pit-16=loss&bal-pit-17=win&cin-cle-17=loss
  13. There is only a few percent chance that the Browns get a wild card. Accept this season for what it is, the best one in some time, and a foundation for 2020. The Browns will hopefully fill in some more holes, the QB play should be one year better, and Garrett will not be stupid and take the bait like he did this year, which caused him to be lost to his team for no one knows how long. Go to the health food store and get this stuff called St. John’s Wort. It’s supposed to help with depression.
  14. This game was dreadful. Third string undrafted QB for Steelers, no Ben no Smith - Schitstorm, no Pouncey, people playing who I never heard of. We knew the Steelers defense was good but their offense seemed to get into a rhythm as the game went on. If you can’t take the Steelers now, then when?
  15. Bills 30, Browns 14 In the NFL, you are what your record says you are. How the Browns manage to stink after drafting so much talent in a short time IDK, but they manage to do so. Flying Disease Infested Rats, 27, Bung Holes 12 The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. Balt is running away with the division in the post-Flacco era, Cin is in disarray as usual. Rams 30, Stillers 27 Pgh defense has gelled of late with the acquisition of Minkah Fitzpatrick and drafting of Devin Bush......just in time for their once great offense to reach its expiration date. No Big Ben, no Bell, no Brown, no chance. Enough parts remain to make it close, but no ceegar.
  16. Steelers reverted to form by not wrapping up a Miami receiver and practically helping him into the end zone. They were taken to the woodshed in the first half by the worst team in football. They did win, but it was ugly and they should have won anyway. I will say that with the amount of talent they have lost in the last few years in various ways(Brown, Bell, James, Tuitt, Shazier, Roethlisberger), if they end up over .500 I’ll eat my hat and Tomlin is coach of the year. This would be the year to beat them, with their second and third string QBs playing. Will the Browns step up a notch or two?
  17. Yep, no one will ever touch that record of going to the championship every year he played. Many good QBs had as many or more INT than TD in that era, because the rules were different. Ernie Davis was never drafted by the Browns, though.
  18. Yep I think they did. Did not think Pgh had the cojones to move up like that. It was a very unPittsburgh move, and I knew who they were going after, as Cin was likely going to take Bush to replace that Idjit Burfict, who is now a Raider. The WR they took will probably pan out, as they have uncanny success with WR in middle and later rounds. They took a CB, and most scouts had about ten CBs who were about equally good, and Pgh got one of them. People compare Pgh to the Kardashians but it’s not a good comparison. The Kardashians have a much better record of drafting and developing DBs than Pgh does, so this CB may not amount to much. They took some OLB in a later round and I don’t know much abt him but if he is above average then Dupree is gone. He’s a semi bust at this point. Balt needed WRs badly and got two decent ones, though Brown is awfully awfully scrawny. I mean like Dri Archer thin. Fast and has moves to get open, though. Its not out of the realm of possibility that our division could be among the toughest in 2019.
  19. Meant it, if he did not actually say it. Was probably going to be broken in two if he had to play much longer behind what might be a good junior college Oline, made up of has beens and never weres. The video thanking the fans and welcoming his successor was actually pretty classy.
