  1. FAUCI SAYS REOPENING TOO QUICKLY WILL BACKFIRE

OK and the good doctor is probably right about this although he was surely wrong when he repeatedly said the risk of the virus spreading in the United States was minimal.

Now we need some economists being interviewed about just how long we can go with lockdowns before the economic costs are catastrophic. It is a balancing act.

Fauci doesn't set a time period of when we should re-open. That would be good to know. He is setting himself for an easy "I told you so" when the virus inevitably starts to spread again after we re-open. Once we re-open  every new case of Covid19 and every death will be laid on those of us who wanted to re-open the economy. You can count on it from the MSM but the other side of the story are the economic consequences of an extended lock down.

I don't know  CDawg personally,, I was just curious to know if anyone has had the experience I have had thus far. I was shocked at Boris contracting it as well other famous names.

I don't know Cdawg either personally. He did say he was diabetic and asthmatic which would make him a prime candidate to get hit hard with the virus. My friend who was put on a ventilator for 5 days I thought didn't have any other health issues but I found out from his sister he did have diabetes and high blood pressure which put him at greater risk.

There are other cases though of younger healthy people with no underlying medical issues getting hit hard with the virus. I wonder is there more than one strain of the virus with one strain being more deadly and another milder? Or is it a case where some get a real good dose of the virus all at once and their system gets overwhelmed quickly while others get less of a dose giving their bodies more time to fight it off?

What has been odd about this is that I don't know anyone who has contracted the virus. No one in my relatively large family , no friends or acquaintances, neighbors or co-workers,...yet come flu season it seems someone I know got the flue bug.

I don't minimize this virus. It put Britain's PM Boris Johnson in the ICU in critical condition . Canton Dawg got hit  hard with it and is hospitalized. A friend of mine who is home now on oxygen also was hospitalized and was on a ventilator for 5 days. This is a very nasty Chinese virus. My argument Gorka is to take this virus seriously but not let the cure be worse than the disease. It seems like most people who get the virus will have no or mild symptoms but those who get hit hard with it really get hit hard. Those who are at risk such as the elderly and those with underlying health conditions should take extra precautions. We are between a rock and a hard place. In a perfect world we should take months of a lock down to starve the virus but in the real world if we did that we could end up with a financial collapse the likes we haven't seen since the Great Depression.

Also this Chinese virus is more contagious than anything I can remember. We know the spread is going to happen again when we open things up but do we have any other choice?

So here is my question. What are trump supporters doing about his dithering around with no massive federal push for testing?

Remember that old saying used way back when, "It's the economy stupid!"

Well..........................again he needs to hear from his supporters, "It's the testing stupid!"

Ironically if he acted like a real wartime president as he clams he is, then that is what he would be doing rather than wasting even more time on deflecting, blaming and not taking any responsibility for anything. The ironic part is that if he actually reversed field and did that, he'd win the election hands down. All his experts are telling him that is what is needed to do an open it up policy.

Yet he just remains a moron. "Who could have seen that coming?"

Part of the mess we are in today is because of the other genius's before Trump who shipped our jobs and supply chains to China. How much of this testing falls to governors of individual states and how much can the federal government do? The federal government cannot do it all. Cuomo of New York cannot have it both ways. He cannot make a decision 5 years ago to not buy thousands of ventilators and then when a pandemic hits blame the federal government because NY doesn't have enough ventilators. Who could have seen the flu pandemic coming?Apparently all those on the left who were visionaries at the time warning us about it...too bad the internet doesn't forget what they actually said.

  5. There is no easy answer. I believe we cannot stay in lockdown for 6 months to a year without serious economic damage that makes the cure worse than the disease. That is not a "cavalier" attitude. You could use the "cavalier" argument against those who want to have a lockdown for many more months or a year with no regard to the economic effects. The government cannot keep doling out trillions of dollars of borrowed money to finance a shut down without serious economic consequences. We are already in record debt. How many deaths will happen if the country goes into another Great Depression?

So you weigh things out. There are some bad consequences either way you go.

Yep, I didn't have much use for Trump either, but later on, when you listened to him NOT reading from a teleprompter - he had zero need to make more money - actually the reverse happened - I decided he really genuinely meant what he said.

    Obamao promised the "most transparent"...

    America got the opposite.

    ObaMao promised Real Marriage

ObaMao promised he'd fully support our Constitution..

    America got the opposite.

ObaMao promised he'd fully support our 2nd Amendment

America took the chance that Trump was sincerely being honest about what he said and would do. Looking back, by golly, he's been outstanding in fighting to do exactly as he promised.

He will be re-elected for that. The dems have fought and illegally fostered fake investigations etc... and have discredited themselves with a large percentage of Americans who are democrats but just don't want to condone the leftwing crap anymore.

    We'll see in Nov.

    I'm praying for this president...

    A heartbroken President

Trump is hurting. He loves this country. He had it going wonderfully. His first term moved along from success to success…and then came the sucker punch from China.

Opposed to Senator Graham, who has been absolutely whipped by Trump.

Originally one of his biggest critics, attacking Trump and saying he'd be dangerous to the party. Trump insulting him back.

To kissing Trump's boot just to stay relevant and doing whatever he says like a good little boy.

I'm not sure how anyone could respect Graham. He clearly put his career before any amount of pride or morals.

I'm not saying there aren't any other politicians that have done something similar, but just that Graham did it hard and I'm not sure who could respect him now. I would be willing to bet that Trump even doesn't.

Graham, Huckabee, Cruz, Rubio, Paul and a host of other republicans opposed Trump at one time or another and now are supporting Trump.  It is because Trump has governed well. I didn't support Trump either and opposed him in the GOP primary but he has turned out to be far better president than I ever expected especially on pro life issues where he has become the most pro life president since Roe. I know of many people who didn't vote for Trump in 2016 who will be voting for him this time around.

Well it's actually bills job to be an asshole and I think he's funny a lot of the time and correct once in awhile. But I worry less about him wishing for a recession to defeat Trump than I do Chuck and Nancy who actually have more control over that than he does. And you know those cork soakers are wishing for one with all their little black hearts.

    WSS

Even Maher's motivation here at least in part seems to be in defeating Trump. He is worried Trump's optimism will "trump" the democrats defeatism.

It would be great to see Chuck and Nancy put the needs of the country first instead of their own political interests but time after time they show it is always political gain first. The latest being Nancy not signing on to the business relief bill. It has run out of money and we need to help these businesses so people will have jobs to come back to. Pelosi though sees this as an opportunity to extort concessions and is dragging her feet. The democrat playbook of never letting a crisis go to waste never changes.

  9. WSS you do a great job of moderating especially considering the subject matter of politics which is an issue that almost always opens itself up to being confrontational. The three things they say you should never argue about politics, religion and money are the primary topics on this forum with politics as the number one issue. In that sense a moderator of a political board trying to maintain control has the almost impossible position of herding cats.

This has nothing to do with blue versus red this has to do with green. How many people think that the obviously inflated coronavirus numbers are manipulated in such a way to soak more Federal money out of Washington?

US hospitals getting paid to list patients as Covid-19

Hospitals are getting paid more to list patients as Covid-19 and three times as much if the patient goes on a ventilator, according to The Spectator.

    https://accountingweekly.com/us-hospitals-getting-paid-to-list-patients-as-covid-19/

** The part about hospitals getting three times as much if a patient goes on a ventilator concerns me. A ventilator has got to be the last resort option as there are real negative impacts of placing someone on a ventilator and IMO anyone who can get by without being on one is better off. But hospitals have the financial incentive here of putting patients on ventilators.

  11. Strassel: Here’s Why the Democrats Keep Moving the Shutdown Goal Posts

The Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel writes, “The goal of the shutdown was never to eradicate the disease—an impossibility absent a vaccine. The lockdown was designed to buy the health sector time, to make sure all the cases didn’t hit at once in a crush that would overwhelm hospitals, à la Italy.”

“The Democrats have moved the goal posts,” writes Strassel. They are setting up impossible conditions so they can blame President Trump for each COVID-19 death that comes after the shutdown ends. Even with mass testing and contact tracing, deaths will continue to occur. Trump is not a magician. And the Democrats know this. “Yet Mrs. Pelosi sees in this moment a political opportunity to pin the blame for the natural course of a disease on the White House,” notes Strassel.

It is true that the coming election will be a referendum on Trump’s management of this crisis. But voters aren’t stupid. They can see for themselves that the President is focused on the pandemic. They also see that as millions of Americans struggle, the Democrats view this an opportunity to exploit. Pelosi delayed the original relief bill by trying to add her “wish list” items. Just this week, she blocked the replenishment of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) which has helped so many small business owners make it through the shutdown. Rep. Steny Hoyer announced that the House would adjourn until May 4 – unless there was an emergency. And the repellent Adam Schiff has already planned his “9/11 style” commission to investigate the President for all of the “mistakes” he has already made and for those he will surely make. They’ve seen the President persecuted for nearly four years for crimes he did not commit.

This is virgin territory for the President and his advisors as it is for every world leader. No head of state alive today has ever dealt with a pandemic of this magnitude. Unless Trump were to commit a deliberate, egregious error, I think most Americans will see through the Democrats’ spin.

  12. The bias of the MSM couldn't be better illustrated than with the insane coverage they did with Kavanaugh and how they are handling Biden's sexual assault case. It couldn't be more clearer they have two sets of rules they apply, one for republicans and another for democrats...what they really are they are a bunch of hypocrites.
