  1. We just attacked Syria

I agree that major media sources are less than reliable but anything posted on social media without significant documentation of first hand account should be treated as absolute nonsense until properly vetted by those who actually know. I will admit that the vetting is becoming increasingly difficult with all major news sources replacing journalism with opinion based reporting.
  2. President Trump pardons scooter Libby

Aren't witch hunts exactly what americans want? Iran Contra, Whitewater, Lewinsky, 9/11 Commission, Halliburton, Plame/Wilson, Bengazi, Blackberry, Russia. If we truly wanted to get the truth behind what actually occurred we should remove immunity, burden of proof and take all suspects to Gitmo and beat it out of them since it is such an effective tactic.
  3. President Trump pardons scooter Libby

One of the smart things W did. When a guy takes the fall for a higher ranking official you wait for the next party President to pardon him.
  4. Nobody wants to repeal the 2nd Amendment, right?

This type of rhetoric is dangerous. People don't take liberties. Our elected leaders make decisions that affect our liberties but we don't live in a totalitarian state that many will use to make arguments. There are several liberties I don't enjoy. Drugs are illegal, I don't keep all the money I earn, I'm not allowed to drive wherever I want or as fast as I want. I'm not allowed to assault people I don't agree with and even some forms of speech are not allowed. This country has recently reduced certain liberties in the name of safety without much opposition. The Patriot Act reduced our liberties. The Federal Real ID standards as well as FAA regulations before we board flights. The problem with this country, and even those of who disagree seem to agree on this, is every faction, except strict libertarians which few truly exist, support their liberties but could care less about those that they don't.
  5. Nobody wants to repeal the 2nd Amendment, right?

I won't deny revenue is a factor but to deny public welfare is also a main component is just an attempt to be argumentative. The point still stands that laws evolve and liberties, or perceived liberties, are infringed upon. The 2nd Amendment was drafted after we won our independence, using muskets and a militia presence. Our nation has significantly evolved in technology to render militias unnecessary. Our military is such that militias are not essential to our independence. The need for firearms has shifted from essential to the defense of our fragile nation to recreation. Are there some people that would love to get rid of all guns, absolutely. Are there some who feel that RPGs should be issued to any red-blooded american who wants them, yep. The question is can an intelligent society come to an understanding that compromise is part of governance and liberties can be infringed upon when public welfare is in jeopardy. I still believe, unfortunately, punishment is the more effective way to police our society but there are other commonsense measures that may also be effective. Holding the opinion of banning all firearms is as dangerous and counterproductive as believing any law curbing unfettered firearm sales and uses is unconstitutional.
  6. Nobody wants to repeal the 2nd Amendment, right?

I’ve always subscribed to the ideas that laws change as society changes. DWI laws have become more stringent while abortion laws have ebbed and flowed. You won’t ever solve the “mass shooting” issue the same way you’ll never eradicate terrorism. I think you try your best to avoid bad situations while allowing personal liberty.
  7. Nobody wants to repeal the 2nd Amendment, right?

Much stricter sentencing requirements for individuals who commit crimes in which firearms are involved or present. An initiative to license all firearms owned as well as all a license requirement for all individuals carrying a pistol. Increasing the scope of crime that would disqualify someone from obtaining a carry pistol license. Limiting magazine capacity to 10 rounds and ammunition on one's person during personal carry. This would not apply to hunting or target range participation.
  8. Nobody wants to repeal the 2nd Amendment, right?

I'm not a gun owner. I don't want the 2nd Amendment repealed. I would like reasonable gun laws.
  9. Browns Schedule Thread

    3 wins
  10. Joe Thomas has retired

Joe Thomas may be the biggest lapse in judgment in NFL history. The Browns wasted a top draft, trade possibilities and money on a left tackle that protected no one for a team that won more than 5 games once in his career. When the team finally looks like they are making moves, he retires. There is no denying that Thomas might go down as one of the best LT in NFL history but his story mirrors why the Browns suck. Joe you got paid, never had to play under pressure and will retire beloved in Cleveland....wish they would've traded you to the Broncos for a 2nd rounder in 2015
  11. Shelton traded to the Patriots

I wish someone could explain this

  13. I think the tariffs are a good idea. You have to see the reaction from the global economy and adjust. At some point we must begin to transition more towards producers and less from consumers.
  14. 30k 8k 8k

Incredible accomplishment by the best all around player in NBA history

  16. Okay kiddies here's your inevitable gun control thread

It's easy to talk about solutions when one, stricter gun laws, is off the table and un-American. I think most rational people believe that violence, absent firearms, is a complex issue with many facets and gun violence is no different. The problem is the chasm between "love it or leave it" and "guns are bad mmmkay"
  17. Not surprised this time of year and with this crop. No one jumps out at me as the next Peyton Manning. What is worse is for the past two seasons QBs were passed on because this QB class was loaded, guess the analysts meant drunk.
  18. Jonathon Martin

Unfortunately I was the bully, never physical, but verbal. I was, and many would say still am, a douchebag. Classic middle class athlete growing up in a blue collar town. But my shortcomings as a human being doesn't mean we should normalize bad behavior. Yeah if someone I picked on in High School came up and punched me, things would have been different but they would have been different if my peers would have called me on my nonsense, if an adult cared or if a person like myself connected with a younger me.
  19. Jonathon Martin

Why should school age kids have to fight bullies? This is so &#$*ed up. School should be a place for learning and not one where a 15 year old needs to assault a 18 year old to do it.
  20. Okay kiddies here's your inevitable gun control thread

What were the popular weapons in 1789? Can't we simply have a logical discussion without rabid nationalism. The brilliance of the US Constitution is it was never meant to be absolute, you have the Bible for that. The authors had the idea that governance must change with the times and although not easy to do, it is necessary. I have no issue with private citizens owning guns but believe intelligent people can agree on moderation.
  21. Okay kiddies here's your inevitable gun control thread

I know you like to argue for the sake of arguing but this is a new low.
  22. Okay kiddies here's your inevitable gun control thread

No I think the justification it’s no worse for society than alcohol, so legalize it and tax it.

  24. Okay kiddies here's your inevitable gun control thread

Gun control advocates are too quick to act as if banning certain guns or background checks will solve the problem and gun rights advocates drape themselves in the flag and act as though any discussion on limiting gun access means communist Russia is our next evolution.
  25. It's not okay, it's fantastic. If a country is able to sway the direction of another to their benefit without war that is great. The problem is when you are the country being lead around by your nose. Frightening all the patriots in here not more outraged with one of our main rivals affecting the outcome of our presidential election. Republican jesus, Reagan, is turning over in his grave. If this happened in 1982 we may have gone to war, at minimum Republicans would have been losing their schit.
