  1. My biggest problem is having the stances shoved down my throat. The unity pledge at the beginning, the black national anthem, the countless commercials, and whatever else. It's overkill and it doesn't do anything to stop racism. Heck, I can argue it actually does the freaking opposite. I absolutely detest BLM. They cause nothing but trouble in my town, they harass people on the sidewalk, they shut down traffic, and then they get upset when they get run over by car because they "have the right to protest in the streets and stop the flow of traffic". I hate racism, in all forms. But I'm also beyond furious that my hometown had to put up with "protesters" after 3 cops were cleared of shooting a black man who just murdered someone, said he was going to kill some cops, and pulled a gun on the police as they tried to apprehend him. This piece of shit got shot and we have to put up with broken windows, curfews, and whatever else. Wtf does this have to do with racism? Nothing. I feel like the world has gone crazy. We celebrate the life of a man wanted for sexual assault, who had other violent arrests, who had a knife and fought with police, and people donated $2.2 million to him. Do I feel like he deserves to be shot 7 times? No, absolutely not, but what choice did he give the cops? I know I'm rambling, but I'm just tired of it all.

  3. I am also an obsessed Browns fan! I will watch them and the Indians ONLY! I to will not watch the pre game (opinions.) I also do not support BLM just as I do not support the KKK. Peaceful protest all you want. Violence and destruction are no means to an end! GO BROWNS!!!

  4. Nope, I'm all in too. I'm a 73 year old VietNam Vet & don't approve of public demonstrations (kneeling during the Anthem, etc), so I will refrain from watching until kickoff. That being said, I understand that others have as much right TO demonstrate as I have NOT to. Let's just keep all demonstrations non violent & not judge, make fun of, or belittle others for their viewpoints & beliefs. GO BROWNS!!! Mike

  5. Ah .. "The Left". I own my own business, I pay my share of taxes, I obey the law (mostly), I'm educated, I went to Catholic school, I go to church, I've only owned American cars, My Dad was a WWII Vet, my uncle died on D-Day, I like baseball, hot dogs and apple pie ... and I'm voting for Joe Biden. And protests don't ruffle my feathers, they are part of the American Process ... am I a "leftist"? Zombo

  7. You all probably know that I hate politics on a Football Board, but I think this year, this thread is a "Necessary Evil" for people to discuss, and vent, about player protests and the NFL's response to social issues. Also, it is a convenient way to keep all of that talk in one thread. If any mods see politics/protest threads outside of this thread, merge it or delete it. And as always, if this is a big issue for you, you are encouraged to visit our Political Forum where you can discuss freely and openly any issues you want to. This forum is about football. But if these issues change how you feel about football, let's hear it. My particular question to BB members is ... Will any player protests, or NFL support thereof, compel you to no longer watch and follow the Browns and /or NFL? I'll go first ... No. I'm all in. Super Bowl. Zombo

  8. I'm not sure where to start. But what I see influences what I know. What I see is a society being split down the middle. We are forced to be either left or right. There is no middle ground. Our two political party system is wreaking havoc on our society. Want evidence... this board, FB, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media outlets. If you believe that our country's success or demise sits at the feet of either the Democrats or the Republicans, I think you're part of the problem. The idea that you can be fiscally conservative and socially liberal is foreign, and for some even taboo. That's where I am. I want small government, fair & simplified taxes, I believe in the constitution as it was designed and written, personal freedom of choice, and the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness. But I also believe in individual freedoms that allows all human and civil rights to be extended to all people regardless of sex, race, orientation. If two men or women want to marry each other. Okay... who cares, let them. It doesn't hurt me in any way. I could go on and on, but I fit in the middle. Yet, we have no middle choice. I'm probably more libertarian than either the Dems or the GOP, but do we hear that voice? I would also wager that most probably sit in the middle on a lot of issues. But, 4 years later, here we are. And 4 years after this we will argue over some other bullshit. The solution is that our political party system needs overhauled. That's only gonna happen if as a people, we make it happen. Unfortunately most would rather argue over masks, BLM, and other shit that appears to only divide us even further.

  12. Because the 16K that were allowed in the stadium booed the players as they held hands? JJ Watt couldn't understand why they were booing, explaining it was a display of unity. Unity of what may I ask?

  14. Looks like one of the most talented rosters we've had in a long time. That offensive line looks like a stud clearing the way for Chubb and Hunt. Isn't Stefanski's offense play action heavy?

  15. Throw some high % passes on 1st down - Ravens are going to be hyper-focused on stopping Chubb early. Keep moving the chains, critical. Keep the D rested, as if we get into a situation where Balt. can pound the rock, it's bedtime.

  16. We don’t have a Tyreek Hill (Browns Fans will argue OBJ). They don’t have a Nick Chubb. The Chiefs utilize their weapons in a way that enhances their skill set. Short- Catch the ball YAC It up.

  17. terrific post - and good question. I would say that appointing Constitutionalists to the Supreme Court that defend our Constitution/Bill of Rights helps us all directly to keep our rights. Defending our 2nd Amendment affects me directly. I think back to JFK...and Reagan, and even Trump now. Inspiring Americans instead of dividing us, uplifting our America instead of running us as a country down (obaMao/biden reference) around the world. Nixon, Johnson, carter, clinton, bush w., obamao all let us down, even ford wasn't much help. Bush w had one inspiring moment of time - 9/11. He came through in the inspiration of Americans dept. Leadership is having the ability to inspire others to follow, simply by earning their high respect.

  18. So, what should the president have done.... still waiting. And I heard the quote last night. Based on the timing of the quote, and what we knew, I think most presidents would have done the same thing and don't act like this is something that only a GOP POTUS would have done. And not creating a public panic, is something that anyone in their right mind would have to consider. Toilet paper couldn't be found in grocery stores... If any POTUS decided to shut everything down immediately without firm facts this country would have been a shit storm. And if a shit storm ensued, think of the political and public outcry from everyone that Trump created a public panic and didn't do what he should have done. Here's an example of damed if you do damed if you don't. The federal gov't on the onset of all things Covid gave student loan relief till September, which many applauded on the left and right. A few weeks ago that was extended to 12/31. What did I see, an article that criticized Trump's decision to extend the relief. However, if he hadn't, you know he would have been criticized for not doing anything! Here's one thing I know. Four years ago people shat their pants, cried, and exclaimed their hated and reasoning to move to Canada. Now, almost 4 years later, what has so drastically changed for anyone negatively, other than the impact of Covid and BLM protests, looting and rioting which we can't logically blame on Trump? People hated Obama, he was the anti-christ. Where we at 8 years after his tenure. He didn't usher in the tribulation or destroy this country. My point. In my working years (45 now) there hasn't been anything done for me directly by any President. My job, money, home, family, etc., has all been earned by me. I've never required handouts, welfare, or needed someone to step in (and hoping I never do). But no President has ever done anything directly for me. And I would wager, that for most middle class americans, most presidents haven't done anything for you or changed this country in any way that has caused you huge success in any way. Sure, there are laws enacted, legislation created, taxes go up or down, foreign trade agreements. These do impact us all. But I'm talking about huge personal impacts on the individual. So has any president ever done something for you that has put you where you are today?

  22. Yep. I was cringing so hard. Especially the Alicia keys anthem. I was stunned at how far they went with it all. It’s so insulting to every single skin color what they are doing. Did you hear the boos of the crowd during the unity stance? People are done with this shit

  23. Yeah, him....I think...the Packer that Dorsey brought in. They said he didn't want to practice because it was cold or rainy or something. I think that some players eventually came to the conclusion that Freddie wasn't a good coach. As I recall there were a couple of player explosions at him on the sidelines during the season. Obviously there was a player asking the opponent's sidelines to 'Come get me'. Of course that was OBJ....so....it could be that he thought the hookers were better in their city. I had originally liked Freddie for his down to earth style...but he turned out to be a billhilly. Now, I like Stef because he's the opposite of a billhilly. He 'sounds' educated. As an owner I wouldn't be afraid of what my HC is going to say when a microphone is put in front of him. I hope he's a good HC. And I hope Higgins & Njoku will be examples of it.

  25. No - I love Browns football. They piss me off every year and it will not stop me from watching. It’s a 3 month 3 hour obsession. A time where I don’t give a rats @$$ about my job, my bills or my broken sprinkler. I am thankful my wife enjoys football as much and my daughters will too- it’s family time too. I do not care how a particular player feels or expresses themselves even if I don’t agree but I also feel that When you are in the workplace you have a job to do. Play well between 10am-130pm. Put your feelings and beliefs away and DO YOUR JOB.

  26. I think every athlete thinking they are now Rosa parks is bad for the game. Athletes are irrelevant to political real world issues, but now believe they are just as involved as politicians which is laughable. The NBA is way worse. What they are doing is asinine. I’m surprised they haven’t sacrificed a policeman at mid court before tip off at this point. They have really damaged their brand. Especially Lebum

  28. It would take a monumental cluster chicken of a season to restart yet again. You have to factor in that we're getting new coaches in a covid shortened season who want to install all new systems. Is that an excuse? Yeah, maybe, but it doesn't make it less true. Also, I think it's already obvious we're better coached. Players seem more dialed in, nobody is running their mouth off, and we genuinely seem to be embracing this "all bite, no bark" mentality. We were an absolute shit show last year, and even if we don't win 12 games, I firmly believe we'll look like a well-coached team. We might start off rocky, and it REALLY doesn't help that we start off with the damn Ravens and THEN play on Thursday, but if we can tread water and get hot to end the year...we'll be alright, I feel it. I love our coaches, I totally agree with our offensive philosophy, and we're going to have the best team we've had in YEARS this season. We might not make the playoffs, but we're going to have a quality product that fans can be proud of. Stefanski is the real deal, I'd bet on it.

  30. We need to beat one of the following: At Baltimore At Dallas Indianapolis Pittsburgh Of course handle our business at Home against Cincinnati and Washington. 3-3 with the team hopefully coming together at that point. Tony claims this is an offense suited for Baker and Myles is motivated. How many injuries is he anticipating? Let’s rank the 10 injuries the Browns can’t afford. 1. Myles Garrett. We saw what happened last year. 2. Bitonio. Already thin at guard and he’s a pro bowl talent 3. Ward. When healthy and he’s on his game he locks down #1s we don’t have anyone on our roster that can do that. 4. Conklin. Good talent and Lamm and Hubbard are a steep drop off. 5. OBJ. Big time field stretcher and decoy. Skill set is unique to the offense 6. Richardson/Ogunjobi. Thin and unproven behind this group. 7. Tretter. Rookie backup but all reports are depth is good but can’t lose the line caller. 8. N. Chubb. Elite talent but we have depth but you shuffle some guys out of place now. 9. Baker. but we have an insurance policy. 10. Landry. Leadership and clutch play So there you have it. Of this list I’d say Ward has been out the most the past couple seasons.

  32. And this attitude is exactly why the Washington study is predicting 410,000 total COVID deaths by Jan. 2021. Their number one recommendation is mask wearing and this president mocks the man who is doing the patriotic thing of leading by example instead of trying to destroy the data, data gatherers and data analysts as I told you would happen several months ago. Herman Cain says hello from the grave BTW. Bet he regretted not wearing a mask when the end came. Trump is the one who will lose the election because he won't wear a mask and still denies the extent of the virus. Guess what. The virus doesn't give a fuck what you or he thinks about mask wearing. It just goes on it's merry way infecting others through people who think not wearing a mask is political statement in support of the King of Corona. And how about a commitment from all you non-mask folks. If you end up in the hospital with it, how about an apology before you kick the bucket. Might actually save a few of your non-mask buddies who agree with trumpy's mockery.
