Now Cleve is stooping to that level. Personal attacks against the wife/family is certainly not an effective strategy for either side to use. Legally, technically, power over everything - government, military, church. But last time a monarch tried to actually do that we executed them, 400 years ago. These days it's all ceremonial, for example when David Cameron resigned, he had to go have tea with the queen and inform her, then later that day new PM Theresa May had to go have tea with the queen, where she was 'invited' to form a government. It's basically just bullshit, but for some reason some people love it. Also, they do act as ambassadors, visiting other countries and stuff, which is probably good I guess.
