Opal312
That's more than Calvin Johnson, Randall Cobb, Demaryious Thomas, Alshon Jeffrey, AJ Green, and only two less than Dez Bryant and Antonio Brown. He missed a game with an injury and he's had two really mediocre quarterbacks throwing the ball. So why did Ray Farmer pass on him and draft Manziel? WalterWhite
I'm more impressed with Odell Beckham Jr, The dude leads all rookies and receptions (71), receiving yards (974), he has 9 TD's (tied for 2nd) AND HE'S MISSED 4 FUCKING GAMES!!!!! Here's my problem with drafting Gilbert, CB, to me, was never a huge priority with Haden and Skrine already here. We need a nickel guy and found one in K'Waun Williams and decent depth. Fuck, we even got Desir in the 4th. It's easy to play Monday Morning draft GM because EVERYONE thought Clowney was the 2nd coming of JJ Watt. Everyone thought Greg Robinson would be a fucking star and he's struggled big time. The owners/coaches/Farmer KNEW Gordon would be suspended and still said "fuck drafting a WR". That to me was a little arrogant without having a true #1 WR and we did manage to get to 7-4 without a true #1 but with Gordon's contract coming up and his uncertain future, we just didn't know. I won't lie and I'll admit I wanted Manziel but the second I found out Gordon was going to be suspended I just wished we would have taken Watkins. I just didn't see the need for a CB when you have the 4th pick in the draft.

Skrine had a very up and down year, many STILL want him exclusively at nickel and prior to the draft some didn't want him on the team. When Haden was banged up, our secondary had very little depth. This front office had zero idea just how effective Williams has been this year. For the most part he was expected to be camp fodder/special team contributor. The front office addressed what they considered two positions of greater need, and probably would have taken a receiver after we picked Bito if they felt any worth worth the shot. Instead they upgraded the trenches. I love that call. They knew this team would not be some passing juggernaut even with Watkins or Evans. So they picked a badass line man because they also knew to be successful we'd have to run the rock - a shit ton. Imagine how piss poor this Oline would be without Joel. A WR would have made a shit bit of difference without the line being solidified. I won't lie, I didn't want Manziel. IF we were going to do anything with having a pick in the 20's I wanted to trade further down, maybe pick up an additional second rounder and then take some offensive weapons. Instead... we went with party boy.

We didn't see the Mack injury coming otherwise a center would have been drafted at some point. I was just mad we didn't even go receiver at SOME POINT with Gordon being out for a year (and they knew this before it was released to the public) My mock was 4. Manziel 26. Xavier Sau-Filo 37. Jordan Mathews (shows you how much I fucking know) I swear to god the draft is so hard to do. It's hit or miss. I thought Brady Quinn/Beanie Wells/Ray Maualuga would all be badasses. Nothing since then unless you count the garbage time TD against the jets..He's made more than a few big grabs since he was figured out. Beyond that he was a 4th round pick not a first round pick. He's also not on the field for every snap. Soooo yea I'm pretty happy with our 4th rounder. Edit: 4 - 109 and a TD against the Bengals. He torched Leon hall on a double move. Niiiiice try. miktoxic
But all the draft experts and pundits, writers and sports analysts thought Mike Evans was going to the Browns? So did I. bullshit. he went earlier at 7 than most pundits thought. hell if would have been there at eight and the browns would've picked him, i wouldn't have had a prob with it. anyone that was on this board at the time knew i loved evans over watkins and gilbert over all the other corners. problem is we needed both positions. last year skrine was a bum, sorry. i can't forget how many times people were screaming about his game. well i guess farmer saw the same thing and went out and revamped the secondary like no one else has done in recent history. bringing in a FA safety, some UDFAs and our draft picks. woulda coulda shoulda bullshit. i love how walter makes these blanket statements like everyone wanted clowney....i didn't. he sweated every top pick. well you can't have them all walter. meanwhile the wr position has been the least of our worries and all you and walter and clevefan4life do is bitch about who we shoulda coulda woulda...... in hindsight i guess we shoulda picked a center or a DL. make that argument and you're making sense not just making the same stupid one. TexasAg1969
Well we still won't know how good that pick of Gilbert at #8 for Watkins (or Evans) was until we see who we get at Buffalo's spot next year. I've always kind of liked getting two for one, especially if you believe the one you need most can be gotten later as apparently the FO knew when going after a DB instead of a WR. I see no fault in that logic at all then or now. DB had the highest priority for a defensive minded HC. Nothing wrong with that when you believe great teams are built with great defenses first. So the speculation for next year is, do they go for a much needed DL or a much needed OL first? Got me-but should be interesting to say the least. Tour2ma
Martavis Bryant - 4th round 8 games 7 touchdowns. Fair to say he burst out of the gate and could be one of 2014's steals, but at just over 50% of his targets being completed he's obviously still very raw. I swear if the NFL consistently called offensive PI Mike Evans would have only have the TDs he has now.. The guy is constantly pushing off to get open. Exactly my thing pre-draft/ pre-this-season... but it's now only fair to say that I got it wrong with Mike. Sure he pushes off.. a lot, but he also makes adjustments to the ball that are very athletic. He has a lot more game than I gave him credit for having.
