5. From another thread: Have you ever placed a legal sports bet in either Delaware/Oregon/Montana

1. What odds do you give to Terrelle Pryor making the transition to WR and earning a roster spot on the Browns?
As a WR? Zero. As a WR/Emergency QB? 3 in 5.

2. The Cardinals have hired a female as an assistant coach. The first in NFL history. Will this be a trend?
There will be more because there could not be less, but participation as players will ensure male dominance.

By contrast the NBA will see many more women in coaching.

3. Two parter...fill in the blank:
A. The Browns will have a successful winning season primarily because of stopping the run and running the ball, AKA the way the team has been built by Pet and Farmer.
B. The Browns will have a losing season primarily because of injury.

McCown is the single most crucial player, but if we have one of those years where one group is hit hard that could get ugly as well.

4. This question came from the Dan Patrick radio show this morning: What would you rather have your child have: A. A decent but not superstar career as a professional athlete....or B. An Ivy League education (Yale/Harvard/Princeton/Penn/Cornell/Dartmouth/Brown/Columbia or the like)?
Whatever made the kid happier... which I think would likely be the sports route.

5. From another thread: Have you ever placed a legal sports bet in either Delaware/Oregon/Montana
Only sports I have ever bet on were dog and horse racing. I got to liking the former way too much at one point...
Or is none of those, tell about a sports bet you made in Nevada (Vegas/Reno/Tahoe etc.)

Here are this week's survey questions. Give your answers and opinions:

My own answers

1. What odds do you give to Terrelle Pryor making the transition to WR and earning a roster spot on the Browns?

I give him about a 50/50 chance of making it. We actually do not have anyone else of his size and speed on this WR corps. The question is...can he catch. If he can catch...he'll make it.

2. The Cardinals have hired a female as an assistant coach. The first in NFL history. Will this be a trend?

Not a huge trend....its not like half the teams are going to hire a female asst. A minor trend for now.

3. Two parter...fill in the blank:

A. The Browns will have a successful winning season primarily because of of the quality and depth we have in the trenches OL and DL....and our DB unit is one of the best in the game_______________.

B. The Browns will have a losing season primarily because of _________________________.

Injuries....as usual. They always forestall any progress the Browns seem to make. Plus inconsistent QB play....again as usual for the Browns.

But...I think both of these will be lessened this year. McCown plays relatively solid, injuries are limited.

Well, I have to say B....because that is just what I have in my family. A son who has no interest in sports. He sat down with me for 5 minutes the other day to watch an OSU rerun...for about 5 minutes then got bored. My daughter is a cheerleader in college...and likes sports. If she makes a living from sports it will be on the marketing/management end

5. From another thread: Have you ever placed a legal sports bet in either Delaware/Oregon/Montana

No....I was in Montana last year....didn't know that sports betting was legal. Saw no venue to place a bet. I may be in both Delaware and Oregon next year. We shall see if I can find a place to lay a flutter.

Or is none of those, tell about a sports bet you made in Nevada (Vegas/Reno/Tahoe etc.)

I am going to Utah in October....and plan to run out to see the Bonneville Salt Flats. Just beyond there is the Nevada border, and while I am there I may run to West Wendover to put 5 bucks on the Browns. They do have a sports book there.

My only other excursion was in 1999 when I stayed in Lake Tahoe. We flew into Reno, and stopped at a casino there where I laid 5 bucks down on the Browns.

They were playing the Bengals.....in the only game Akili Smith started and won. Bengals won it at the last second....but the Browns covered the spread, so I won. I never cashed in the winning ticket. To this day I have it in my travel archive.

Here are this week's survey questions. Give your answers and opinions:

1. What odds do you give to Terrelle Pryor making the transition to WR and earning a roster spot on the Browns?

80% I think he makes the team, and is a QB at times on 2 point conversion attempts.

2. The Cardinals have hired a female as an assistant coach. The first in NFL history. Will this be a trend?

No

3. Two parter...fill in the blank:

A. The Browns will have a successful winning season primarily because of Duke Johnson, and improved offensive line, and ability to stop the run.

B. The Browns will have a losing season primarily because of the ghost of Art Modell.

The education. Although Carlos Santana will probably make more money in the long run, money isn't everything (but it sure helps lol).

5. From another thread: Have you ever placed a legal sports bet in either Delaware/Oregon/Montana

No

Or is none of those, tell about a sports bet you made in Nevada (Vegas/Reno/Tahoe etc.)

I hit on Mickelson's first Masters win for $1000. Otherwise, my sports betting is dismal.

1. 30%

2. Yes

3.

A. The combination of an elite secondary and Danny Shelton. There won't be anywhere for offenses to go.

B. McCown being bad, and then Johnny being bad.

4. Pro athlete. Of course, you can do both. I will always tell my kids that if they're not great athletes and heading to the SEC (of course), then the next best option is absolutely to get one of those bogus "academic scholarships" for athletes that they give out in the Ivy League. You get the best of both worlds AND if you're good enough, you can make it to the "not stellar pro career" anyway.

5. Nothing special. In 2011 I put out a future on Alabama winning the national championship when it seemed like a foregone conclusion that LSU was (midseasonish). They lost to LSU and I was worried, but ended up pulling it out.

Here are this week's survey questions. Give your answers and opinions:

1. What odds do you give to Terrelle Pryor making the transition to WR and earning a roster spot on the Browns?

7/10. - I think he'll be our 3rd string QB while learning WR and contributing on ST. Why not?

2. The Cardinals have hired a female as an assistant coach. The first in NFL history. Will this be a trend?

Small trend

3. Two parter...fill in the blank:

A. The Browns will have a successful winning season primarily because of ___THE DEFENCE____________.

B. The Browns will have a losing season primarily because of ____________THE OFFENCE_____________.

A. Without injury, who wouldn't want a decent career as a pro in baseball/football/hockey/basketball. You're set for life and then you can buy an Ivy League Education - especially Harvard.

5. From another thread: Have you ever placed a legal sports bet in either Delaware/Oregon/Montana

Vegas. Start of NFL season, I bought 2 tickets wagering that the team would win the Super Bowl. Ticket # 1 Raiders $20 at 8-1 odds and Ticket #2 Tampa Bucs at 12-1 odds. Guess what? Bucs played Raiders so I couldn't lose. Bucs won so payout was $240. When I cashed the ticket, I asked if I could have bet that the Bucs would play the Raiders in the Super Bowl. The answer was yes, with odds of almost 100 to 1. So the same $40 bet could have given me $4000

1. 22% (a double Manziel) ;)

2. Nope

3. A. Pettine

B. They won't, 8-8 at worst.

4. Take the money and major in investing in another decent business school. My wife has a Cornell degree but was an underpaid teacher in Texas most of her career. So much for Magna Cum Laude.

5. Most devastating loss in Vegas was a two game baseball parlay. I had won the first and went out to dinner with a 9 run lead in the second. Went to cash it in later and the second team had blown the game in late innings. Still stings!!

Like Arians said a while ago - if you can make the players better, you can get a job.

3. Two parter...fill in the blank:

A. The Browns will have a successful winning season primarily because of the D.

B. The Browns will have a losing season primarily because of poor passing game.

Sports gambling is perfectly legal anywhere and everywhere in the UK. I've placed bets a a soccer stadium, at home, at work, anywhere. Mobile apps make it a lot easier.

My son starts there in about 3 weeks....but that is for PhD......better chances of doing well. If one just wanted to be an underpaid teacher in Texas she could have just gone to A&M, not an Ivy League school.

Apparently there are 3 casinos plus other sites in Delaware where betting on NFL is available:

State licensed sports betting in Delaware is limited to betting on NFL games in a parlay structure. When this venue was first made available to bettors in 2009, it could only be accessed at one of the state's three racetracks which included Dover Downs, Delaware Park and Harrington Raceway. Then in 2012, the state expanded access to various retail locations that includes restaurants, bars and convenience stores, among other locations. The betting options are still limited to NFL, but with the significant expansion of retail locations offering the Delaware sports lottery options, many more bettors can participate simply due to the added convenience that is easier to fit into their lifestyle. A list of all the sportsbooks and retail locations that offer sports lottery cards can be obtained at the DE Lottery website.
