1. Can you remember the Browns playing a worse game than Sunday. If so, what game?

I m sure we have. I think I've blotted them from my memory though. For me, the big difference "this week" was the amount of optimism and build up to the game, only to be met with massive disappointment....

Im sure we've lost others in the same way, but we were more prepared(or almost expecting) to lose back then.....

2. Which NFL coaches deserve to be fired at the end of the year.....or will be even if they don't deserve it.?

I dont follow them that closely, but Harbaugh comes to mind first.....his team has dropped off the map and he seems to be losing the players and fans....so, I think he's one to go for sure....

3. The question always asked this time of Year: What is your favorite Christmas movie?

Rudolph, of course......that abominable snowman scares me every time......and I always wanted one of those Norelco snowmobile sled things the little Burle ives used to ride around on.....

4. Which TV shows do you think have jumped the shark at this point?

No opinions here....not much of a TV guy....but Id say just about any "news" show anymore.....no more reporting. Just fluff & bull shit.

5. What is your opinion of this year's list of Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Inductees, those being Green Day, Bill Withers, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Lou Reed, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band

Im down with Stevie Ray Vaugh....and understand Bill Withers....but the rest really dont work for me.....Joan Jett?...Really?

1. Can you remember the Browns playing a worse game than Sunday. If so, what game?

This game may have been worse, given the talent on the field that day: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/199012090oti.htm

Oilers 58 Browns 14

That same year they lost to the Steelers by 35-0.....again, both of these come the year after they appeared in the AFC title game.

2. Which NFL coaches deserve to be fired at the end of the year.....or will be even if they don't deserve it.?

The coach for the Raiders...Sparano, will be fired....though I think he may be considered only an interim coach. The Raiders want to trade for Jim Harbaugh.

Rex Ryan will be out.

Trestman has at best a 50/50 chance of staying.

Jay Gruden may want out.

3. The question always asked this time of Year: What is your favorite Christmas movie?

A Christmas Story..........and, of course, Die Hard.

4. Which TV shows do you think have jumped the shark at this point?

I binge watched the last season of The Walking Dead. It really seemed directionless.....like a walking zombie.

And Homeland seemed to be a 3 season show.

5. What is your opinion of this year's list of Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Inductees, those being Green Day, Bill Withers, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Lou Reed, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band.

Probably about as weak of a field as any in history. I guess we have the old rub of popularity vs. cultishness. Of these 6 acts, they all combined had an equal number of Billboard Top 100 songs: a total of 6. And only 4 in the Billboard Top Ten.

And all of those were by Bill Withers.....who I actually think is perhaps the weakest of this whole group. He was not a groundbreaking soul/r&b act by any means in my opinion. But he had a few hits. Joan Jett gets in because she has a double X chromosome and purported to rock....not because she had much in the way of hits. She was never that popular or groundbreaking. She went where Suzi Quatro went before her....she just had a bit more visibility.

Has blues been short shifted in the past? Two pretty strictly blues artists in one class? I don't know, you tell me. Lou Reed had his underground popularity thing, sure. Green Day is probably the biggest name. I was never into them...but I know that they have a sizeable following.

But.....considering who, in my opinion, they have not put in there who they could have, this was a fairly lame class.

5. Just start it at the 1:30 mark in a "warm up" session.

Ahhh..... a little more Texas pride showing through ;).....though THIS is one I can fully appreciate.....

Saw Stevie & Joe Cocker at Blossom, just a month or so before his death....a great player he was....and very deserving of his HOF nomination!

1. The Chicago game during the Mangini era had to be close - It looked like the team quit on Mangini at that point. At halftime, the TV show showed a very pissed off Randy Lerner heading into the locker room. Only time I ever say anything on the dudes face.

2. Atlanta, Chicago, maybe SanFran

3. A Christmas Story

4. The Obama Voter Show, although they keep redeeming themselves

5. Green Day, Joan Jett, Stevie Ray Vaughn are deserving. Don't care about the rest. IMO, Lou Reed was one song.

1. Can you remember the Browns playing a worse game than Sunday. If so, what game?

To me 30-0 is the worst score that you can lose by. Because I associate it with a humiliating loss in my childhood.

1972, I was 8 years old. The Browns and Steelers were both 8-3 and tied for First Place. The Steelers were the young up and coming team, the Browns were trying to hold on to faded glory. I lived in Steeler country. All of my family, my friends, my schoolmates ... all Steeler fans. It was me against the world. And the Steelers spanked the Browns 30-0. I remember sitting there red-faced, watching the TV screen, not believing my eyes. 30-0. The abuse I took that week just made me more of a Browns fan. But whenever I fantasize about beating a team so soundly that nothing can be questioned ... the score in my fantasy is 30-0.

Have there been worse? Ya, Opening game 99. Also, I once sat in Jacksonville, freezing my ass off the week Spergon Wynn made his start for the Browns. We did nothng. Looked helpless just like Sunday. Lost 41-0 or 48-0, something like that. I also remember a playoff game when I was even younger, against the Vikings when we lost 51-3. I still remember Fred Cox of the Vikings kicking off every five minutes. I think that one traumatized me as well.

2. Which NFL coaches deserve to be fired at the end of the year.....or will be even if they don't deserve it.?

I think Philbin is done in Miami, Smith in Atlanta, Rex is NY, Chicago is probably going to reboot ... I'm sure there are others, but hose come quickly to mind.

3. The question always asked this time of Year: What is your favorite Christmas movie?

It's a Wonderful Life

4. Which TV shows do you think have jumped the shark at this point?

I really don't watch TV shows but If I have to name one ... Castle. Castle has jumped the shark.

5. What is your opinion of this year's list of Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Inductees, those being Green Day, Bill Withers, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Lou Reed, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band.

All very worthy.

1. One that comes to mind is the Jacksonville game a few years ago(2009?), we had a +6 Turnover margin and still lost

2. Atlanta-deserved, Jets-deserved, Raiders-already fired and is an interm coach, San Fran-seems to be contract issues that filtered to the field, DC is a mess and could be out

3. National Lampoons Christmas Vacation and Christmas Story

4. One I watch that felt it did was Supernatural, I also agree with you gipper about Walking dead, specially after this season so far

1. Can you remember the Browns playing a worse game than Sunday. If so, what game?

Honestly for me this was the worst game tied with with the game we lost against Cincy is 2007 when the playoffs were hanging in the balance. Both games we laid eggs when it mattered most.

2. Which NFL coaches deserve to be fired at the end of the year.....or will be even if they don't deserve it.?

If the Falcons miss the playoffs there's no excuse for their HC. Rex Ryan will probably get the boot too.

3. The question always asked this time of Year: What is your favorite Christmas movie?

How the Grinch Stole Christmas, we still watch it every year on VHS.

4. Which TV shows do you think have jumped the shark at this point?

Not a huge TV guy but the only show the mrs. and I were watching on time is American Horror Story. Started off good but now it just sucks, stopped watching a few weeks ago.

5. What is your opinion of this year's list of Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Inductees, those being Green Day, Bill Withers, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Lou Reed, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band.

I absolutely despise Green Day. Their music was so good until 9/11 and then they went to the "America sucks man, were hardcore" route. I'm fine with criticisms of government, that's your right. But they so blatantly sold out to the lowest common denominator once people were jumping off the patriotic bandwagon.

1. Can you remember the Browns playing a worse game than Sunday. If so, what game?

Monday Night vs. San Diego in 1981, Browns lost 44-14 on opening night, after a fantastic 1980 season.

2. Which NFL coaches deserve to be fired at the end of the year.....or will be even if they don't deserve it.?

Philbin most likely. Maybe Tom Coughlin, but he doesn't deserve it.

3. The question always asked this time of Year: What is your favorite Christmas movie?

National Lampoos's Christmas Vacation, hysterical.

4. Which TV shows do you think have jumped the shark at this point?

Ican't believe Deep Purple didn't get the nod over all these acts. Stevie Ray is a good choice though.

Johnny Manziel will be great. Give him time.

Here is this week's Opinion Survey. Give your opinions or answers:

1. Can you remember the Browns playing a worse game than Sunday. If so, what game? It was one of the worst defensive efforts i have ever seen from an NFL team. This coming from a guy that saw the Cowboys defense give up 40 first downs and didnt make the Bears punt one single time in a game last season.

Did you mean to say Offensive effort?

Because, granted the defense didn't play well, gave up a ton of yards on the ground, including that last garbage time drive.

But the OFFENSE managed three fucking first downs (plus two by penalty) and had 54 yards passing.

Surely you have seen worse defense in your life. Still haven't seen a team win a game by scoring zero points.

The defense was putrid. You are understating how bad the defense really was. With the season on the line, they were embarrassing to watch. They gave up 244 yards rushing. Dalton only needed to pass for 117 yards. Pathetic performance and they have been getting a free pass. Total number of plays: Bengals 71, Browns 38. The defense failed the team.

You're being a little bitch because Johnny played so poorly.

That doesn't play around here homey.

Man up ... 54 yards, 3 1st downs and zero points is 54 yards, 3 1st downs and zero points.

You can call out the defense, but you gotta call out the midget too. He was unbelievably awful.

Just a few points:

I believe there are two games that hold the Browns record for worst margin of loss:

11/12/1967 lost to the Packers 55-7

11/9/1969 lost to the Vikings 51-3...the game Zombo remembers.

48 point margin

Funny thing though...the Browns were good teams both those years. They made the playoffs then when it was harder to do so than now.

On the other hand, from what I can gather, these are the Browns largest wins:

11/7/1954 Browns 62 Redskins 3 59 point margin

Opening game 1989 Browns 51 Steelers 0 51 pt margin

Most points scored by the Browns: 66-14 vs. Brooklyn 1945 (AAFC) 52 pt. margin

While in NFL: 62 see game above, also beat Giants 62-14 in 1953.

Bottom line, both offense and defense were both pretty awful. Epically so.

So lets go put a 66 spot on Carolina?

Please dont call me names. We can talk like grown ups. I have said a number of times that he did not play well. Just about every post here is talking about how poorly Johnny played. The defense has hardly been talked about.

The defense could have scored points like they did last week. They could have provided better field position. The Browns offense only had 9 possessions in the game vs the 14 they had last week. Just providing some perspective.

BTW, lets not hi-jack Gippers thread.

See what happens when you don't have an opinion on music. But it is OK. One of the questions was: have you seen a worse performance by the Browns. Keep it in context of that.

I assume Zombo's opinion is "No, particularly by the offense" and your opinion was "the defense was equally bad."

(it could have been 73-0.....the Bengals would have had to put another 43 up to match)

Here's some perspective: You want more plays? Make first downs. They give you more plays.

Keeps your defense rested too.

Defense has played well most of the year. Bungles had a good game plan, I dont know why more teams dont run on us every down, because you certainly can't pass on us. Dalton cant.

So they had a bad outing. Manziel has had one start and it was like the worst start in the history of quarterbacks. So excuse me if I am a little more forgiving of the defense that got us to 7-6.

I know Johnny was terrible but so was the entire offense and yes, the defense equally bad. Thank you!

This was actually a nice fun thread(one of the few on the board).....and it was fresh because we didn't have any Johnny on it.....

Then your Texas manlove couldnt be denied and polluted yet another thread.....

Shoulda just put your defensive rant(which weve now heard over and over) on the excuse thread and your "Johnny will great" up your ass....

Do you have to declare this shit on EVERY thread?

Worst I've ever seen in person, but that may be because I was expecting more our of the defense.

2. Which NFL coaches deserve to be fired at the end of the year.....or will be even if they don't deserve it.?

Marc Tressman, and Rex Ryan jump out although both are somewhat a victim of other's mistakes

3. The question always asked this time of Year: What is your favorite Christmas movie?

A tie between A Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation

4. Which TV shows do you think have jumped the shark at this point?

No idea...really haven't watched any network series this year

5. What is your opinion of this year's list of Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Inductees, those being Green Day, Bill Withers, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Lou Reed, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band.

Yes on Lou Reed and Stevie Ray...........a big no on the rest, and I agree on Deep Purple, and so many others that don't even get mentioned.

My memory blocks them from coming out at this point. I could do research and probably remind myself of them but I don't want to.

2. Which NFL coaches deserve to be fired at the end of the year.....or will be even if they don't deserve it.?

Obvious choice to me is Rex Ryan.

3. The question always asked this time of Year: What is your favorite Christmas movie?

A Christmas Story or Christmas Vacation. Seems the older I get the latter one wins out just a bit more.

4. Which TV shows do you think have jumped the shark at this point?

I don't know. All the shows I watch I like and don't see it. Some of the competition shows I tune into...Face Off and Inkmaster...seem like how far can they go? Who knows, American Idol (which I don't watch) is still on after like 14 seasons.

5. What is your opinion of this year's list of Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Inductees, those being Green Day, Bill Withers, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Lou Reed, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band.

No opinion, except that Green Day seems too young to be in already. But I don't follow RNR HOF much either to know what the criteria is.

A Christmas Story..........and, of course, Die Hard.

I like Die Hard a lot. One of my favorite action flicks. I never saw it much as a "Christmas movie" though. Just an action movie that happens to take place during Christmas time.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas, we still watch it every year on VHS.

1. I thought about that game too, but this one was worse to me. Maybe because it's more recent, but I think it has to do with the hopes of JM as our future QB. Even that year DA was doing well...I never had confidence in him long term.

2. You still own...and operate...a VCR? Ok then. Not a dig, just don't know anyone myself who still uses them.

I think he's referring to the HOF awards part of it. Which I'm pretty much the same. I used to watch the Oscars, but then I realized why do I care about this stuff? I'm not a musician or an actor, nor do I have friends or family in those businesses.

And why Everxxx, why did you bring him up here in this thread?

Yea, well that is a big debate we have had here in previous years.....and which has gone on a lot elsewhere. Let's just say that the "Die Hard is a Christmas movie" contingent is about as vocal as the JFF fanboys are.....so I go along with the concept.

I still have a VHS/DVD unit. I mean, how many thousands of dollars would it take to replace a VHS collection that was built up over like 10-15 years?

I only rarely use my VHS...but when I want to see something I have only on VHS at least I know that I can watch it.

E.g.......we have a family tradition of watching the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes "Blue Carbuncle" mystery that we only have on VHS. (it is set at Christmas time). We will have to use the VHS for that.
