Sir Purr isn't the best name but he's a HUGE hit with the kids at the stadium and is very marketable. I swear you see no less than 150-200 kids with painted faces (for $20 a pop) Long story short about the UNCC 49ers is they chose it for: the university being founded in 1949, it being located on highway 49 (which is a bullshit coincidence) and the fact that the Charlotte area does have a history of gold finds. People park in lots and garages downtown and walk to the stadium, which is still one of the top stadiums in the nfl and was built with private funding. There technically are parking lots but it's all used for tailgating. Fortunately we've found the secret parking lot that's cheap to park, not a bad walk and is super easy to leave from.
