THE BROWNS BOARD

Hines Ward

Where does he end up and do the browns have any interest in a short term contract? What's your opinion?

Yes, I was hoping a 36-year-old 4th string possession receiver would surface. Just what we need!

At least it's just the members here and not every single mediot outlet in the country linking every big name free agent to your team. Thanks Vinny

Not what we need receiver corps-wise.

Would definitely contribute attitude and work ethic, but would like to think we have a coaching staff to do that.

hoota,

Has Hines ever been fined for any of those "cheapshots"? He's not even close to "lower-my-head" Harrison in my book...

All else aside, what the Browns need is more speed at the WR spot. Whines Hard was never a fast receiver and now he is an old slow receiver.

If there were truly any value left to his game I don't know why the Steelers would be dumping him. They...who love him...should be the first to utilize what he has left. The fact that they have elected to say sayonara should tell you all that needs to be told.

No, we need to go fast and go young...for the future.

Hines still has it, you guys should get him, really. Remember his 1,000 reception (against the Browns) was for a 3 yard loss, so he still hasn't lost his ability to catch. Hines should realize his playing days are over and retire a Steeler. In lieu of that, I think the only fitting way for him to leave football would be to join the browns and have James Harrison cheap shot him and end his career after a 3 yard catch and loss.

Regarding getting fined, I believe the answer is yes. :)

  You made my day with that one. But it would fit right in with the mentality of some of the posters here that are all about bringing in every washed up vet in the NFL to Cleveland. If you've noticed there were posts about making a play for Manning to see if we can squeeze another good year or two out of him- for $10-12 million. Just what a rebuilding team needs.

What? and you actually refer to yourself as a Steeler fan? A. Hines would never sign with the Browns. B. Why would you even suggest a career ender? C. Yes he should retire and I hope he decides to in lieu of what he said recently.

Look it doesn't make good business sense for the browns to hire him. He's old, he's been slipping down the depth charts etc... But then again he's our arch-rivals number one reciever of all time, Hes s super bowl mvp , he could have some value as a reciever coach or mentor. Who do our recievers learn from?

I'm not advocating the browns signing him, but you have to admit, it'd be a sweet fuck you to the steelers if he could still produce against them.

Honestly, the only sweet fuck you to them I am interested in is in beating them on the scoreboard.

And I apologize to Ward for previously stating that he should say Sayonara. He is Korean, not Japanese. Rather he should say (written phonetically): Annyeong Higaseyo or 안녕히가세요

A. Hines is a me first player, in other words, Hines will do what's best for Hines. The Browns would be a very attractive place for Mr. Ward, because he will have the chance to compete for a starting job, should they offer him a shot. Further the Steelers cut him, so signing with a division rival will help him get his "nobody ever gave me a chance" mojo running at full throttle.

B. I want my millionaires to kick the crap out of everyone else's millionaires. If Hines signs with an enemy franchise, I have no desire to watch do well, espeically against my franchise. The irony of a Steelers player ending his career would catapult the story onto every national sports talk show in America, further torturing other teams fans to endure "Steelers" related talk ad naseum.

C. Hines won't retire. NFL players do whats best for them, and can't admit to themselves that they no longer have the physical tools to play the game any longer. Hines has a few good games left in him, but he doesn't have a few good or even one good season left in him.

I'm still there... Could do a lot worse than Manning as a placeholder until a real, NFL QB comes our way via the draft.

We hate Michigan also.

For the record I've never hated Ward and Michigan had grown so pitiful that pity had replaced my hatred of them.

However, at least in Michigan's case, I'm open to retraining... :D

The "sense" is determined by the price tag. On our current depth chart IMO he'd be a 2/3. Post draft/ FA who knows?

1) The "real" potential franchise qb is right there for the asking of a couple of extra picks THIS YEAR- RGIII.

2) You bring in Manning- you're bringing in in "his" system too. It ain't happening- at least in Cleveland.
